Senior sub-sub-sub-sub-sub-sub-sub-sub-sub-sub goalkeeper Paul Lillis gave a performance for the ages on Sunday morning last in the junior-c clash with Shannon Rovers as he saved shot after shot while simultaneously acting as a sweeper racing out of the goals acting as an out ball for the much relieved defenders before sending pin-point passes into the forwards. Such was his impact on the game that at one stage former Nenagh hurler and Shannon Rovers full forward John Flannery hit Lillis’s hurley a headbutt in an effort to curb his influence on the game but to no avail. Well done Paul.

Up and coming young hurler Niall Cahill was in sensational form on Sunday morning against Shannon Rovers in the junior-c match as he covered every blade of game on Thomas MacDonagh’s pitch showing boundless energy and enthusiasm which will have given senior hurling manager Hugh Maloney plenty to ponder over ahead of the county semi-final. Here is Niall scoring a first-half goal.

Francis the History Maker

Last July the whole county partied as Tipperary blew Cork away with a breathtaking second-half display in the All-Ireland final. The Premier crowd were thrilled, but deep down they also felt terribly for Cork, whose All-Ireland drought has now dragged on for over twenty years.
The anniversary of their last win fell on September 11, but fear not — there’s been a breakthrough for Perkin Warbeck’s county. Step forward our own Francis Bourke, originally from the famous Craggy Island just off the Cork coast, who became the first Cork man in two decades to lift the Liam MacCarthy Cup when it made its way to MacDonagh Park.
A momentous day for Francis and the Rebel County — at long last a Cork man got his hands on the silverware. Fair play Francis, you’ve ended the famine.

All of us in the club wish Lily O’Brien a speedy recovery from the injury she picked up in the game against Moycarkey Borris. At first, it was feared she had suffered a broken ankle, with her mother Marie rushing to her side to offer support while physiotherapist Clodagh McIntyre quickly assessed the situation. Thankfully her ankle was fine – but Lily had, in fact, fallen victim to something far more serious… poorly finished tan lines on her feet.
As a result, she has been ruled out for the rest of the season and, even more devastatingly, will have to miss Electric Picnic next weekend. An emergency bottle of Dripping Gold was dispatched, though we await confirmation on whether it did the trick.
Speedy recovery Lily – from everyone in the club!

The Intermediate team opened their 2025 Championship with an away fixture against Borris-Ileigh on Friday evening last. Borris-Ileigh had the faster start and opened a 5-point lead in the first 10 minutes. Nenagh then settled and clawed the lead back to 2 points by half-time. However, after a near miss on goal from Nenagh, Borris-Ileigh broke through the defence and scored a goal of their own. Two frees before the half-time whistle saw us go in 7 points down.
We started the second half strongly and got a goal through Grace O’Brien. However, Borris-Ileigh kept the scoreboard ticking over and closed the game out with another late goal.
