Clodagh McIntyre scored a crucial equaliser to help the Tipperary Senior Camogie Team secure a draw against Cork Senior Camogie Team over the weekend. Prior to that, Clodagh took time out from training last Monday to speak with our under-14 and under-16 camogie players.
The Tipperary camogie star and qualified physiotherapist spoke about physiotherapy, hormonal health and nutrition from a sporting perspective, with a focus on fuelling performance. All of our camogie players were very interested and learned some great tips. Many thanks to St Mary’s Secondary School Nenagh for allowing Éire Óg to host the talk in the school library.
under-15 camogie team
Our under-15 team also competed in Féile at the weekend. The girls played two very competitive games against Annacarty Camogie Club and Moyne-Templetuohy Camogie Club. They scored 10 points in a draw with Annacarty and were narrowly beaten by one point by Moyne who progressed to the semi-finals. The girls showed great effort and skill and can be very proud of their performances.

Astro Arena Showdown as Trio Unleash Hurling Fireworks
A thrilling night of 1 v 1 v 1 social ‘ground’ hurling lit up the Astro last Wednesday as Jamie Kennedy, Martin Gleeson and Conor O’Donovan went head-to-head in a fiercely competitive midweek showdown packed with skill, sweat and spectacular moments.
End-to-End Blitz Gets the Blood Pumping
The action kicked off with a demanding 3 x 3-minute end-to-end ball striking drill that had the trio flying from the first whistle. Each player took turns holding the middle ground for three gruelling minutes, doubling on the ball and firing it towards rivals stationed at either end of the pitch in a relentless display of timing and touch.
Diagonal Drill Turns Up the Heat
Next came a punishing 15-minute diagonal ball striking session where lightning-quick reactions were the order of the night. First-time strikes, sharp doubles on rebounds and clever use of the Astro boards kept the sliothar zipping from every angle as the three men battled to stay one step ahead of the ricochet.
Penalty Shootout Brings the Drama
But the real fireworks arrived with a brand new challenge that had everyone on edge — a side-to-side penalty taking contest. With goalposts planted directly opposite each other on either side of the pitch and the penalty taker standing dead centre, each player stepped up to take six alternating strikes at both goals while his rivals scrambled to defend.
O’Donovan Strikes First in Goal Fest
Round one belonged to Conor O’Donovan, who edged the contest by slotting home two clinical goals to claim the early bragging rights. The remaining two rounds were nail-biting affairs, both finishing one goal apiece as the trio refused to give an inch.
Kennedy’s Net-Buster Steals the Spotlight
The goal of the night honour went to Jamie Kennedy, who unleashed an unstoppable strike that rocketed into the roof of the net while O’Donovan could only watch helplessly from the goal line.
Gleeson Pulls Off Save of the Night
Not to be outdone, Martin Gleeson produced the save of the night, flinging himself full stretch to his right to somehow claw away a blistering rasper from O’Donovan in a moment that drew gasps from the Astro sideline.
Wall Drill Finale Caps Off Electric Session
Such was the ferocity of the game, this is all that remained of the ball afterwards
The evening wrapped up with a demanding five-minute ball wall drill, with each player striking the sliotar 33 times in alternating left and right shots to finish the session on a high.
More Astro Action Next Week
Plans are already in motion for the next social hurling session next Wednesday at 8.15pm. Anyone keen to get involved in the fast-growing midweek showdown can contact Conor O’Donovan on 087-6107360.
