Michael’s team mate and captain from 1991, Declan Carr, was managing Holycross Ballycahill on Friday evening.

Club PRO Ella Carey, an influential, inspirational, invincible, irrepressible, indomitable and intrepid instigator and influencer, took no prisoners as she repeatedly burst out of defence on Friday evening against Holycross Ballycahill, and with the warrior-like qualities of Celtic goddess Scáthach, she knocked opponents out of her way like a bowling ball scattering skittles. She refused to take a backwards step or hit the ground and left chaos, carnage and would-be challengers sprawled in her wake as she powered relentlessly forward with a Cú Chulainn-like performance for the ages.
ASTRO ARENA ERUPTS AS BIBS DUO DEFY THE ODDS!
Under the floodlights with the cold night air crackling like a live wire, last Wednesday’s 40-minute hurling showdown exploded into life — as steel met sliotar in a clash that had everything but a referee’s whistle meltdown.

WARM-UP OR WILD WEST SHOOTOUT?
The opening 10-minute “warm-up” was less gentle jog and more chaotic shootout, sliotars flying like bullets in a spaghetti western as players loosened limbs and sharpened instincts ahead of the main event.
NON-BIBS COME OUT SWINGING!Like a pack of wolves scenting blood, the non-bibs trio of Kennedy, Moylan and Hogan tore into the first period, racking up a ruthless 3-0 lead. The bibs? Left reeling, chasing shadows and wondering where it all went wrong.
THE GREAT BIBS REVIVAL — FROM ZEROES TO HEROES!But champions don’t crumble — they
ignite! And ignite they did! Phelan and O’Donovan roared back into the contest like a storm rolling in off the Atlantic smashing home six goals in a blistering turnaround to seize a 6-4 lead. The tide had turned and it turned violently.
FINAL ACT FIREWORKS — GOAL FOR GOAL, BLOW FOR BLOW!The final stretch was pure box-office mayhem. Score for score, strike for strike, neither side giving an inch. It was a gladiatorial duel on synthetic turf — sweat, grit and sliotars zipping like comets — but when the dust settled, the bibs duo stood tall, edging it 10-8 in a pulsating finish.
SHARPSHOOTERS ON FIRE!Phelan and O’Donovan split the spoils like seasoned gunslingers, bagging five goals apiece with ruthless precision. For the non-bibs, Kennedy led the charge with five of his own, Hogan chipped in with two and Moylan added a solitary strike to the tally.
SHOT-STOPPER SUPREME!Between the posts, Martin Hogan was a one-man fortress — a human shield, a brick wall, a nightmare for attackers. Save after save flew off him and from SIX penalties, he conceded just ONE. Heroic doesn’t quite cover it.
MOMENTS OF MAGIC!The cheekiest moment? Step forward Jamie Kennedy, who produced a silky nutmeg so smooth it should’ve come with a warning label — defenders left spinning like tops.
Goal of the night? Eamon Moylan, who pounced like a hawk after a razor-sharp interception, finishing with deadly calm — a strike that oozed class.
DAVID TOPPLES GOLIATH!Against the odds, outnumbered and underestimated, Phelan and O’Donovan delivered a masterclass in grit and guile. Two men, three opponents — no problem. They didn’t just win… they
conquered.
ROLL ON NEXT WEEK — ROUND TWO LOOMS!The countdown has already begun. Next Wednesday, 8:15pm — the stage is set once more. Will the challengers strike back or will the bibs reign supreme again? One thing’s certain… expect more chaos, more drama and plenty more. New comers welcome.
