The club sends its sincere sympathies to the family of Mary McDonnell at this sad time of her passing. Coming from a famous GAA family in Cork, Mary and her late husband Brian were great supporters of the club over many years. That love of all strands of the GAA was passed onto their family with immense contributions made by all, on and off the hurling and camogie fields, including with our own club with the next generation now carrying the torch on. We extend our condolences to Brian, Rory, Deirdre and Eimear, brothers Noel and Billy, daughter in law Jenny Bracken, son-in-law Noel Maloney, grandchildren Joanne, Ciardha, Oisín and Cuan, and the extended family.

Under-8 Boys

Our Under-8 boys took part in an internal blitz on Saturday morning and performed brilliantly. They showed huge energy, great teamwork and fantastic progress throughout. Well done to this hardworking group.

The boys travelled to Newport on Saturday morning for a blitz and produced a series of very impressive, high-tempo performances. Superb teamwork and spirit were on display throughout. Well done to all the lads.

Our Under-12A team were in action against Ballina last week and recorded an excellent win to secure their place in the quarter-final. Well done to all the boys, who put in a tremendous effort and represented the club so well.

The Under-14A team welcomed Naomh Eoin to Nenagh on Thursday evening. After a fiercely contested encounter, Nenagh emerged victorious. Well done to all the boys on a deserved win.

Our Under-18 boys faced Toomevara last week in an absolute thriller, with Toomevara just edging the contest. It was a committed and wholehearted performance from the Nenagh lads, with plenty of positives to build on for the remainder of the season.

County Action

Well done to Grace O’Brien and the Tipperary senior camogie team on their Glen Dimplex All-Ireland Senior Camogie Championship semi-final against Cork. It was a hard-fought contest, with Cork progressing to the All-Ireland Final.

We are incredibly proud of Grace as she continues to represent both her club and county with distinction. Well done, Grace.

Under-8 Girls

Our Under-8 girls enjoyed a fantastic day out on Saturday. The day began with a fun challenge match against Holycross before the girls headed to Thurles for Supermac’s and then on to FBD Semple Stadium to cheer on Tipperary in the Glen Dimplex All-Ireland Senior Camogie Championship semi-final.

Although the result did not go Tipperary’s way, our girls were hugely impressed by Grace O’Brien’s performance. Grace continues to be a fantastic role model and we are immensely proud of her. Despite the disappointment of the result, she generously took the time to meet so many young supporters after the match, showing the class and sportsmanship that make her such a wonderful ambassador for both Tipperary and Nenagh Éire Óg.

A huge thank you to all the coaches, parents and supporters who helped make it such a memorable day.

Under-12 Girls

Our Under-12 girls welcomed Davitts of Galway to Nenagh on Sunday for a very enjoyable challenge match.

Despite the windy conditions, both teams produced an excellent game, giving our girls a fantastic opportunity to test themselves against strong opposition. It was a valuable experience, with plenty of teamwork, skill and determination on display throughout.

Well done to all the players and thank you to Davitts for making the journey.

Under-13

Minor

Our Minor team travelled to Dolla on Tuesday evening to face our neighbours Silvermines. A strong first-half performance laid the foundation for an excellent victory, securing our first win of the group and a place in the semi-final.

The girls conclude the group stage against Borris-Ileigh on Tuesday evening at 8.00pm in MacDonagh Park. We wish them the very best of luck.

Blues Abroad

Congratulations to Paul Ryan, who recently won the Ronan Cup with Fr. Murphy’s after they defeated Fulham Irish in the final, 5-16 to 1-12.

Following the victory, Paul embarked on a whistle-stop tour of North Tipperary with the trophy and got the opportunity to meet his idol, the man who inspired him to enter politics, Cllr Seamie Morris.

Cllr Ryan is a member of the British Green Party and was recently elected to Brent Council in North West London. Shortly after posing for their photograph, the two men entered into a lively discussion on various policies, with tensions quickly rising when ideological differences emerged over the controversial issue of pineapple on pizza.

Things escalated further as both men claimed to be the best politician in Nenagh Éire Óg, resulting in a brief shouting, pushing and shoving incident. Thankfully, Paul’s mother Elaine and Seamie’s wife Denise intervened and successfully de-escalated the situation.

Both men were made shake hands, promise to behave, to be friends and were instructed not to stand near each other during the senior match against JK Brackens.
