Healthy Club Project
Well done to everyone for joining our Ireland Lights Up walks organised by Nenagh Éire Óg. It’s wonderful to see regular and new faces to our GAA club. Our next walk is Thursday the 8th of February for take-off at 7pm from the complex. There’s no charge but registration is required. Wrap up well, wear a Hi- Vis or reflective gear. Spread the word and bring someone else along next week.
Tipperary
Well done to Jake Morris and Barry Heffernan who were part of the Tipperary Senior hurling team who overcame Dublin in the first round of the Allianz hurling league. Congratulations to Jake who was awarded Man of the Match for his performance. They take on Galway in the second round this Sunday.
Harty Cup
Congratulations to Nenagh CBS on their historic win in the Harty Cup final. They overcame Ardscoil Rís in a thrilling game, with a last minute goal being the decider. Congratulations to the team, management and everyone involved. There was 7 Nenagh Éire Óg hurlers on the panel, Aodhán O’ Connor, Cian Connolly, Eoin Garrigan, Mason Cawley, Zack Keller, Billy O’ Brien and Emmet Jones. Well done to the lads on being apart of this achievement.
Condolences
We extend our sympathies to our Club President Jimmy Morris and to all the Morris and Thompson family on the sad passing of Trish Morris Thompson. Although living abroad for a long number of years, Trish continued to be a loyal supporter to Nenagh Éire Óg. Ar dheis De go raibh a hanam.
Camogie Notes
Under 12
Our new season will start on Wednesday Feb 7th with our first training session on the hurling wall. Training will be on Wednesday nights from 6-7pm. This group is for girls born in 2012 and 2013. If you know any girls that would like to give it a go they are very welcome to come along. Looking forward to getting started and having a great year’s Camogie for the girls. Kieran: 0876233660
GAA Healthy Club Project
Strength Class Series for women, hosted by Nenagh Éire Óg Camogie Club in association with the GAA Healthy Club Project will continue on Monday evenings 18:50-19:50. Due to popular demand, this initiative will be running for 6 weeks until the 12th February for females of all ages for €12 per session. Beginners and new participants are very welcome to join us in the coming weeks and all that is needed is an exercise mat to improve your physical health.
Ireland Lights Up Walking Series 2024
Another great GAA Healthy Club initiative continues this Thursday 08th February at 6:50pm.
These are community walks for all ages and levels of ability. The programme targets anyone interested in getting fitter; learning some new safe walking routes around Nenagh, making new friends, establishing some good healthy habits early in the new year and learning about what goes on at Nenagh Éire Óg! Hi-Vis/Reflective gear is required. We will meet at MacDonagh Park each Thursday with the final community walk taking place on the 15th Feb 24.

Club membership for 2024 is now open for new and existing members. Membership can be given to any committee member or team manager. All memberships can now be paid online through the Foireann System (https://www.foireann.ie/).
Current members
If you are a current member, you should have a Foireann account already set up. When logging in, you may be required to change your password. Remember to use the “forgot password” option if required rather than setting up a new account to avoid duplication.
New members
If you are a new member and don’t have a Foireann account, the following video Accessing Foireann, goes through in detail how to set up an account and select Nenagh Eire Og GAA as your club.
We have membership options that cater to players and supporting members along with family options. Once you have your account set up, you can pay your membership for 2024 by clicking on Membership in the pull-down menu and then selecting the applicable membership option for you or your family under Membership Options. It is now possible to pay for a family in a single transaction (i.e., for Juvenile players and adult non-playing full members together). A summary of the different membership options for 2024 is shown below and there is a corresponding option for each in Foireann.
Silver membership:
- Adult Player* €50
- U19 Player €30
- Adult (Non-playing) €50
- Student / OAP / Unemployed-Non player €30
- Family Membership 1 (One adult + Children) €80
- Family Membership 2 (2 adults + Children) €100
Gold Membership
- Add a weekly lotto ticket (for 52 weeks) to any of the above memberships for an extra €100.
Female playing membership is paid separately to Nenagh Eire Og Camogie club.
*All players must be registered before they train or play. All coaches must also be club members.
The deadline for membership registration in 2024 is 31st March OR prior to training / playing games, whichever is sooner.
Payment by Debit or Credit Card is facilitated within the Foireann system at no additional cost to you on the secure Stripe payment platform. If you cannot pay by Debit or with Credit Card, please select the Pay Later in Club Option when processing your registration and payment can be made to any committee member. Please note that your registration will not be complete until payment has been received by the club. Our Membership fees are an integral part of the finances of the club. Club membership is important to ensure players are registered with our club and the respective G.A.A bodies. The club incurs a number of annual charges per player from our governing bodies, insurance, etc. which membership fees directly cover. It also provides vital funds for the day-to-day running of the club.

The Éire Óg Healthy Club walking series continues on Thursday 25th January at 7pm. Walk No. 3, newcomers welcome! These are community walks for all ages and levels of ability. There will be an option to walk a 3KM or a 5.5KM route again this week. Meet at MacDonagh Park from 6.55pm

Munster Champions
St Marys Secondary School, Newport, won their Munster Post Primary Schools senior hurling final last Friday, beating Mungret, with our own David Minogue manning the sideline. Well done David.
Fitzgibbon Cup
Well done to Conor Hennessy and Mark Carey who are part of the MIC and UCC Fitzgibbon panels. Conor is representing Nenagh Éire Óg on the MIC squad and Mark is representing on the UCC side. They played against each other in the first round of the Fitzgibbon Cup and Mary I came out on top.
Harty Cup
Congratulations to Nenagh CBS on their win over Charleville CBS in the Dr. Harty Cup Semi- Final. Well done to all Eire Og hurlers involved; Aodhán O’Connor, Cian Connolly, Eoin Garrigan, Mason Cawley, Zack Keller, Billy O’Brien and Emmet Jones. The final will take place on the 3rd of February, throw in is at 1pm in Cusack Park. Best of luck lads !
Camogie Notes
Medal Presentation
The Éire Óg Juvenile, Camogie and Handball clubs will hold their medal presentation night in the complex hall on Saturday January 27th at 7pm.
We had a great year in underage camogie last year and have 4 teams to present:
– u12 Plate winners
– u13 Silver Cup Winners
– u14A Plate winners
– u16B league runners up.
So we hope to see everyone there to celebrate these achievements.

GAA Healthy Club Project
We will be hosting two activities over the next 6 weeks as part of our GAA Healthy Club Project.
Nenagh Eire Og Camogie Club are hosting a strength class series in association with the project.
The beginner’s strength class will take place every Monday evening from 6.50- 7.50pm in MacDonagh Park.
The ‘Ireland Lights Up’ walking series commences this Thursday 11th of January at 7pm in MacDonagh Park.
These are community walks for all ages and levels of ability, hi-vis gear is required.

County Board Convention
Congratulations to Jimmy Minogue who succeeded Joe Kennedy as Chairman of the Tipperary County Board at the Convention on Saturday night last.
We wish Jimmy every success in this role over the next three years.

Also at Co Convention there was good news for Conor O’Donovan’s motion re the handpass in hurling – this motion, submitted by Nenagh Éire Óg on behalf of Conor, was passed by Tipperary delegates and will now go to GAA Congress to be discussed.

Dean Ryan Presentation
On Friday last, the medal presentation for the victorious Dean Ryan winning team took place in Nenagh CBS – well done to all the Nenagh Éire Óg boys involved and also Philip Hickey who was a member of the management team.
Nenagh Éire Óg players Daniel Quinn, Billy O’Brien, Emmet Jones, Daniel Connolly and mentor Philip Hickey who were part of St. Joseph’s CBS Nenagh victorious U17 Dean Ryan Cup winning team.
Football Development Sqauds
Congratulations to all the Nenagh Éire Óg players and mentors who were part of the North Tipperary Football Development squads recently.

However, despite having a strong wind behind us in the second half, we struggled to find any scores until the final few minutes. A 21 yard free was struck low and found the back of the net to level the scores with 7 minutes to go.
As the seconds ticked away, Rhiannon Jones got the ball in space on the 45 and stroked over what would be the winning point. Hard luck to St Cronan’s.

Cardiac Screening – Dillon Quirke Foundation
Huge thanks to Dan and The Dillon Quirke Foundation for holding a pilot free Cardiac Screening programme on Saturday last in the Nenagh ÉireÓg complex.
45 of our juvenile boys and girls aged 12-18yrs were offered the professional services of AMS (Advanced Medical Services) and funded by the Foundation.
Cardiac screening can help identify underlying heart conditions that can lead to Sudden Adult Death Syndrome so it is vitally important to have that info. Feedback from parents and kids was that it was a really positive experience and all were very appreciative of the chance offered to them by the Dillon Quirke Foundation.

Cardiac Screening – Dillon Quirke Foundation
On Saturday next , December 2nd – with the support of the Dillon Quirke Foundation – Nenagh Éire Óg GAA Club is offering 45 young people, aged 12-18, from our community the opportunity to participate in free cardiac screening.
Cardiac screening can help identify underlying heart conditions that can lead to Sudden Adult Death Syndrome (SADS) and it is vitally important to have that knowledge.

Healthy Club Conference
Nenagh Éire Óg were delighted to be invited to share their story of being involved in the GAA Irish Life Healthy Club Project at the 2023 Healthy Clubs conference in Croke Park last Saturday, 18 November.
As a club that participated as a pilot club in the early days of the initiative, Nenagh Éire Óg is one of sixteen clubs in the country celebrating ten years of being recognised as a Healthy Club this year.
Catherine McTiernan, Bartley Ryan, Conor O’Donovan, Enda O’Sullivan, and Deirdre O’Connor highlighted Nenagh Éire Óg activities in two workshops on the conference agenda.

Workshop 2 of the Tipperary GAA Coaching and Games Coach Education Series takes places next Saturday,18th Nov, at 10:30am in Cistercian College Roscrea.
Angelo Walsh, Tipperary S&C will give a talk on building the pillars of Athletic Development.
