Intermediate
Our second round of the 2025 championship saw us take on a strong Moycarkey side at home on Friday evening. Despite losing some of our starting players to injury, Nenagh produced some fine passages of play, particularly in the first half. Unfortunately, we struggled to turn those moves into scores, while Moycarkey proved more clinical and pulled away.
Final score: Moycarkey Borris 1-23 Nenagh Éire Óg 1-8.
Next up, we face Kilruane MacDonaghs on Tuesday 2nd September at 6.30pm in Ardcroney. All support appreciated.

All of us in the club wish Lily O’Brien a speedy recovery from the injury she picked up in the game against Moycarkey Borris. At first, it was feared she had suffered a broken ankle, with her mother Marie rushing to her side to offer support while physiotherapist Clodagh McIntyre quickly assessed the situation. Thankfully her ankle was fine – but Lily had, in fact, fallen victim to something far more serious… poorly finished tan lines on her feet.
As a result, she has been ruled out for the rest of the season and, even more devastatingly, will have to miss Electric Picnic next weekend. An emergency bottle of Dripping Gold was dispatched, though we await confirmation on whether it did the trick.
Speedy recovery Lily – from everyone in the club!

Lily being helped away for emergency treatment on her tan lines.

The Under-16s faced Borris-Ileigh away in the first round of the Under-16A Championship last Wednesday evening. The Intermediate team opened their 2025 Championship with an away fixture against Borris-Ileigh on Friday evening last. Borris-Ileigh had the faster start and opened a 5-point lead in the first 10 minutes. Nenagh then settled and clawed the lead back to 2 points by half-time. However, after a near miss on goal from Nenagh, Borris-Ileigh broke through the defence and scored a goal of their own. Two frees before the half-time whistle saw us go in 7 points down.
We started the second half strongly and got a goal through Grace O’Brien. However, Borris-Ileigh kept the scoreboard ticking over and closed the game out with another late goal.

Camogie News
Under-6 – We hosted Kiladangan this weekend for some games on the astro. This was a great opportunity for the players to express their skills gained throughout the summer and the girls were delighted to play three fun matches. Thank you to all the parents and coaches for organising such a great event. We look forward to travelling to Puckane in the near future.

Under-8 – Our camógs played Portroe last Saturday morning in Nenagh. Despite the damp conditions the girls played brilliantly and enjoyed the morning. Thanks to Portroe for visiting. Training continues Monday at 6:30.
Under-16 – Play their first game of the U16A championship away to Borris-Ileigh on Wednesday 13th at 7pm. Best of luck to all our U16 players and management.
Minor – County Champions! Congratulations to our Minor camogie team who put on a super display of camogie to beat Borris-Ileigh in the county Minor B final.
Playing uphill but with a strong wind on their backs in the first half, Nenagh needed to take full advantage. Borris started the faster and went two points up, but the Nenagh girls settled quickly and got back in the game with a well-taken goal by Clodagh Spain after five minutes. From then until half time, the girls didn’t look back, dominating every position. All six forwards scored and along with the deadly accuracy of Grace Cleary on frees we went in 1-13 to 1-2 at half time.
With such a strong wind blowing into their faces for the second half, the girls knew that they faced a fightback from Borris-Ileigh.
Some heroic defending from our six backs and a fine save by Eleanor Boland on 45 minutes kept Borris-Ileigh at arm’s length. With the gap closed to three points and only minutes remaining, Clodagh Spain won a dirty ball in midfield and moved the ball on to Sailí O’Connor who side-stepped two players onto her left and put the ball over the bar. It was Sailí’s fifth point from play and was the insurance point to secure a memorable win.
Afterwards, captain Ella O’Brien accepted the cup on behalf of the team and the celebrations began in earnest.
Great credit goes to the girls in this group who have battled hard together for Nenagh for many years – losing a U12C final in 2019, they then went on to win a U15C final in 2022 and now three years later they have won the Minor B final. It is a testament to their skill, hard work and commitment and all at Nenagh Éire Óg are very proud of these girls.
Under-18 B Camogie champions 2025
Intermediate – Our championship kicks off with an away fixture to Borris-Ileigh next Friday evening at 7pm. Preparations have been disrupted somewhat by the success of the minor team, but the Intermediate team have been training hard and will hope to get their campaign off to a good start on Friday.
Tipperary – Tipp Under 14 A development squad won their first All-Ireland today in Kilcock, Co Kildare. After three great wins against Limerick, Galway and Dublin in the group stages, Tipp met a very good Derry team who had beaten Cork and Kilkenny en route to the final. After a very close game Tipp emerged victorious by a point, bringing great joy to all involved. Every player contributed to the victory and a very successful year. We’re very proud of our own Lucy Anne Cleary who scored two goals and three points today, and who also had the honour of being joint captain with Kilruane’s Caoimhe Kennedy.
Nenagh were also represented on the B team by Aisling Ryan who played her part in getting to a shield final but were narrowly defeated by Cork.
Congratulations to all, Tiobraid Árann Abú.

Easter Camp
We had the most fantastic few days of Easter Camp 2025.
The children were so happy and excited to be having such fun at the various activities with their friends and in the glorious weather too, what better way to enjoy the Easter holidays.

We can’t wait to go again with our Summer Camp in August and very much look forward to seeing everyone back at the next camp.

A huge thanks must go to Shane, his coaching team and helpers from the club, what an amazing team you all made.
As ever, our camps would not be the same without Pat McCormack, he is a pivotal figure in our promotion of Gaelic Games activities around Nenagh and knows every child by name, thanks Pat for all you do.

Thank you to John Quirke, franchisee of McDonalds Nenagh for the generous support of this year’s Easter Camp.
John came along to the final day of the Easter camp to present each of the children with a complimentary voucher for a McFlurry after all of their effort and participation in the camp over the three days.
John & the team at McDonalds were thrilled & excited to hear that with this sponsorship support the Éire Óg Juvenile Club will be able to augment their schools coaching program and cross community promotion of Gaelic Games thereby facilitating more children from the Nenagh community and surrounds to be able to participate in Gaelic games, increase their physical activity and consequently overall well-being.
We thank John and McDonalds for their kind sponsorship.

Thank you to Nenagh Éire Óg senior club sponsors Specsavers Nenagh for the thoughtful gesture of dropping in goodie bags for all of the children who attended our Easter Camp, it was a lovely surprise.

Camogie Notes
Intermediate
The Intermediate Camogie team travelled to Newport on Saturday morning last to play the 2nd round of the League against Newport/Ballinahinch.
Newport settled quicker and had some good interchanges to pick off some early scores. The Nenagh girls got their game going however and, playing with the wind in the first half, we began to work the ball well into the full forward line, who held it up well. Two well-worked goals, finished to the net by Sarah Quigley and Megan Grace saw the girls lead at half time 2-3 to 0-6.
Facing into a strengthening wind, our backs and midfield excelled in the second half, keeping Newport forwards to only scoring from frees. At the other end, a long range free from Rachel Maher was deflected to the Newport net. Another point was added and our backs held firm to win by 2 points.
Final score Newport/Ballinahinch 0-11 Nenagh Éire Óg 3-4.
The next league game is at home to Kilruane McDonaghs on Saturday April 19th at 6pm.
U16
The girls played Slieve Felim in McDonagh Park on Monday putting in a very strong performance in the final group match of the county A league. Final score Nenagh Éire Óg 3-18 Slieve Felim Raperees 0-9.
