In 1964 Éire Óg bridged a seven-year gap when the Blues were crowned north Tipperary senior hurling champions following a great win over Roscrea at MacDonagh Park. Our thanks go to Enda O’Sullivan for digging up the following report from fifty years ago – this match report was published in the edition of the Nenagh Guardian dated October 1st, 1964.

Éire Óg suffer ten-point defeat to Toome in north minor A hurling semi-final
The Blues’ dominance of the north Tipperary minor A grade was brought to an abrupt end at MacDonagh Park, Cloughjordan on Wednesday evening when Toomevara surged to a 3-17 to 1-13 win over the defending champions.

The junior A hurlers are through to the north final as minor A team prepare to take on Toomevara in a semi-final fixed for Wednesday evening in Cloughjordan. A huge well done goes to Evan Murphy, Jake Morris, Mark O’Farrell, Conor Bonar and Adam Carey who represented Tipperary on their respective inter-county teams last weekend.
