And, don’t forget that the senior and juvenile club AGMs are almost upon us. Please read on for all the latest news, photos, reports and fixtures!
SENIOR
Dr Harty Cup: A huge well done to Nenagh Éire Óg’s Gavin O’Connor, Jake Morris and Adam Healy who all featured in Nenagh CBS’ 4-18 to 0-14 win over Thurles CBS in last Wednesday afternoon’s Dr Harty Cup clash played at Templemore. Nenagh CBS required an eight-point win over their Tipperary rivals in order to progress to the quarter-finals of this prestigious competition. And, the lads achieved that feat with a little spare thanks to a terrific performance. As a result Nenagh CBS topped their group, progressed to the last eight alongside St Colman’s (Fermoy) and now find themselves preparing for a Dr Harty Cup quarter-final which will take place in January. The Blues’ Niall McKeogh, Craig Himli and Conor McCarthy were also members of the Nenagh CBS panel.
Under-21A: Greg Browne’s under-21A hurling team made an encouraging start to their championship campaign recently when beating Roscrea by sixteen points. The team is now awaiting a semi-final fixture. This year the under-21A hurling team is managed by Greg Browne (manager), Con Morris and Michael McNamara.

“We all identify with our own place. My place is Nenagh and I respect every man who is from every parish in Ireland who is identifying with his home. That’s the breeding since the world was made. I see the club as nothing only a way of giving our locality an airing on the public stage. It gives the youth of our town an opportunity to play our games. That’s what I see our club as” – Jimmy Minogue

CAMOGIE
The AGM of Nenagh Éire Óg Camogie club was held recently. The members in attendance were satisfied with the direction of the club and the fact that all teams are now playing in A competitions and our most adult team have qualified for the Intermediate championship next season having won both the junior A league and championship double just two years after winning the junior B double.
The progress of the club is down to the hardworking committee who gave up their spare time to guide and fund what is a wonderful club with a great ethos of fun-first and achievements afterwards.
The new chairperson Caitriona Morris was wished well on her role for the upcoming year and she was full of praise for the previous chairperson Denise Morris who had guided the club along with a steady hand and left the club in great shape.
The new chairperson also thanked the great work of retiring PRO Enda O’Sullivan, along with Brian McDonnell and Catherine McTiernan, for his remarkable work on the Éire Óg ezine which was a great way of showing the hurling and Camogie clubs achievements along with historic pieces from the past. Catriona also thanked Mary Ryan-Mulqueen for her dedication to the club.
The new club committee are: chairperson Caitriona Morris, vice-chairperson Liam McGrath, treasurer Marie O’Brien, secretary Liz Duggan, joint-secretary Denise Morris, PRO Séamie Morris, child welfare officer Mark Hassett and registrar Catherine Kennedy. Committee: Lorraine McLoone, Pat Sheridan, Tom McAuliffe, Kieran O’Brien, Louise Hickey and Marie Sheedy.
The club would like to say that they are on the lookout for new players and managers as we are proposing to field two adult teams next year meaning that previous players and anyone who wishes to get back playing camogie should make an early new year’s wish and contact Catriona Morris at 087 777 6135 for details.
The club would also like to congratulate Enda O’Sullivan for his recent academic achievements.
The proceeds of the Hibernian Inn Christmas Draw this year are going to Nenagh Camogie Club so I would encourage everyone to drop in a buy a few lines at €2 a-piece or €5 for three lines. It will start the year off well for us as we plot another successful year ahead.
