Nenagh Éire Óg 2025 Jerseys
Walkway and Field Update
We have made significant strides on our Nenagh Community Walkway over the last number of months. A special thanks to John Tooher, Shane Connolly, James O’Dwyer and John Mackey & his team who have put tremendous work to get it to where it is today.
We expect that the walkway will be finalised and open to the general public in early 2025.
Dillon Quirke Foundation
On December 2nd, 2023, we welcomed the Dillon Quirke Foundation to the complex for one of their first screenings. Now, just one year later, they have screened over 10,000 young athletes! Well done to the Quirke family and Foundation on this incredible achievement.
AGM
After the AGM a fitting token of gratitude was presented to outgoing senior club Secretary Catherine McTiernan & outgoing Vice Chairperson John Tooher.
These two Éire Óg stallworths embody all that is characteristic of people who devote themselves to the betterment of the club that they love. Nenagh Éire Óg is extremely lucky to have such skilled, knowledgeable and dedicated people as Catherine & John who have been running and driving on the club & it’s development for many years, from all at Éire Óg sincere thank you to both of you.
Pictured are Jim Nagle, club treasurer presenting to John Tooher & Club Chairperson Tom Gleeson presenting to Catherine McTiernan.
Healthy Club
A Nenagh Éire Óg group participated in the Limerick Parkrun, University of Limerick campus on Saturday 7th December.
This was Event 5, the final event of the Healthy Club FIVE x FIVE Challenge.
Unfortunately, Storm Darragh interfered with the group’s plan for this event as Storm Bert did on 23rd November! Many of the regulars over the last few weeks were disappointed to miss the last offical event but no doubt they will be on the move again some Saturday soon!
Despite the weather challenges, 108 Parkrun participants took part in Limerick, including 5 from Nenagh Éire Óg! The Limerick course starts and finishes at the UL Boathouse. It takes participants down the riverbank on a woodland trail and over some lovely old humpback bridges. The fast flowing River Shannon is an energising backdrop for most of the way. All are looking forward to doing this course again.
A big thank you to Eileen Reeves (Run Director) and all the volunteers for hosting our Éire Óg group on Saturday. We very much appreciate all the unseen work that takes place to make events like these happen every weekend.
Thanks to all at Delish Café, Castletroy, for a super breakfast, hospitality, and the lovely decorated Christmas table too! We will come back post-Parkrun with our larger group soon.
A special word of thanks to Éilis for leading the ‘Couch to 5k’ programme, and for all of her good humoured motivation at the ‘Meet and Train’ group and parkruns since October. Míle buíochas!
The FIVE x FIVE challenge has ticked all the boxes for the ‘Five Ways to Wellbeing’ promoted by the GAA Healthy Club project and Mental Health Ireland: *Be Active, Learn, Connect, Give, and Take Notice.* The group have made huge gains in fitness and self-belief, socialised with new people, learned about new places, engaged in great conversation, witnessed massive volunteering efforts, and had lots of fun over the last few weeks!
The focus turns to Christmas now.. and then the Nenagh Éire Óg walking/jogging/running ‘ Ireland Lights Up’ initiative in the new year!
Keep an eye on Nenagh Éire Óg social media for details. All are welcome to join in to walk, jog, run or support.
Honouring Heroes
Michael and John Darcy attended a special event at Croke Park to honour the Dublin hurling team who defeated Galway in the 1924 All-Ireland final – played on Jones’s Road 100 years ago this year.
On that team was Mick Darcy, the first Nenagh man to win an All- Ireland medal.

Camogie Notes
Congratulations to Grace Cleary & Carly Walsh joining the Tipperary U16 A Camogie for the 2025 season.
We are very proud of the role models they are for the younger girls and the excellence they display on the pitch playing for club and county.
