Healthy Club
A Nenagh Éire Óg group participated in the Clarisford Park Run in Killaloe on Saturday 16th November, for Event 3 of the *Healthy Club November FIVE x FIVE Challenge.*
Clarisford Park, another lovely historical site, was originally part of the 18th Century Bishop’s Palace. The park is also designated as a wildlife conservation area.
The route was four and a half laps on a woodland path. It was relatively flat with a slight incline towards the end of each loop to keep up the heart rates! It felt like a very sociable route with lots of walkers and parents with children & buggies doing the circuit too.
A big thank you to Ollie, Park Run Director, Siobhán, and all the volunteers for welcoming us across the border into Clare! Heartiest congratulations to all at Clarisford on celebrating their 10th Parkrun birthday last week. Great achievement!
Well done to all who travelled from Nenagh to Clarisford, especially first time participants and those that ran their *FIRST FULL 5KM!* This is fantastic progress in just a short number of weeks.
Great post-Parkrun coffee & debrief in The Wooden Spoon, Ballina too!
Event No. 4 is *Limerick Parkrun, University of Limerick. Meet at 9.10am on Saturday 23rd*
See Nenagh Éire Óg website and social media for registration details. All are welcome to join in to walk, jog, run or support.
Lovely way to spend a Saturday morning!
Social Hurling
Great social ground hurling workout on Tuesday night on the Astro pitch, despite the cold weather. Well done to the non-bibs on coming out on top, thanks to a 7 goal salvo by Conor Hayes. Anyone interested in playing social ground hurling can contact Conor O’Donovan 087-6107360.
Warriors for Humanity – Self Help Africa
Best of luck to Conor McCarthy and Barry Heffernan as they head to Kenya this week as part of the Warriors for Humanity campaign in aid of Self-Help Africa. Joining forces with other GAA players from around Ireland, each participant has raised €10,000 with the goal of planting one million trees in Africa. This initiative, in partnership with Self Help Africa, represents a livelihood for an African family for every tree planted.
In support of this great cause, Club Treasurer, Jim Nagle, made a contribution to Conor and Barry from our community lotto funds to help them reach their target. The Nenagh Éire Óg Community Friendly Lotto, which began in June 2020, has donated over €7,500 to local and other worthy charities to date.
