On what has been a sad week for Nenagh Éire Óg, here are this week’s club notes
The Late Michael Madden
All of us in Nenagh Éire Óg are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Michael Madden, a great clubman who was a familiar face around MacDonagh Park for many decades.
Michael was a great supporter of The Blues and was never found wanting when a job needed to be done. He helped with the club lotto draw every Monday evening in the club house and was a member of our field committee and club committee for many years.
He passed on a love of Gaelic games to his children who played juvenile hurling, Gaelic football and camogie for the club.
Michael was a great friend to many in the club, a brilliant raconteur who regularly enthralled many with his anecdotes and quick wit and helped the development of many players over the years with his insightful knowledge and advice.
To his wife Marion and children Derek, Michael, James, Christine and Katie, brothers Gerry and Colm, sisters Anna, Mary, Sheila Teresa and his extended family and numerous friends we offer our sincerest sympathies.
Camogie AGM
The AGM for Nenagh Éire Óg Camogie Club was held on the 4th of December at the clubhouse in Nenagh and was well attended by members representing the club across all of the age groups involved in camogie.
Kieran Malone, Chairperson and Vice-Chair, James O’Dwyer expressed sincere thanks to all of the players, coaches and management for their involvement over the last twelve months with the camogie club. In particular they wished to express their gratitude to outgoing committee members; secretary Pat Sheridan and registrar, Deirdre Colleran for their time and commitment to the club.
The committee outlined the club finances and thanked the main sponsors this year John Ryan, Inver and Entexol.
As the meeting was well attended there was plenty of feedback to the committee on a number of matters and this was welcomed by the committee who agreed to convene their first meeting on Wednesday the 11th of December at 8p.m. in the Clubhouse.
On closing the meeting the chairperson highlighted the commitment of Conor and Noreen Ryan and their dedication and efforts into the senior and minor teams for the last two years.
The elected members for the coming season are as follows;
