GAA Healthy Clubs

We are delighted to have achieved the Silver Award in the GAA Healthy Clubs initiative!
On Tuesday 14th October, Deirdre O’Connor, Healthy Club Officer, and Enda Long, Club Vice Chairperson represented Nenagh Éire Óg at the awards night for Munster clubs at Mallow GAA Complex.
Thank you to everyone in our club and community who supported and continue to support us in achieving our Healthy Club targets. We are looking forward to #GoingForGold in the next 18-month phase of the initiative.
This award is for everyone involved in organising and taking part in our health and wellbeing activities at Éire Óg over the last 18 months. Details of all the strands from physical activity to diversity and inclusion to mental fitness involved in the Healthy Club project can be found in our newsletters. We’d like to give a special mention to Conor O’Donovan (social hurling); Nuala Connolly (Meet & Train); Éilis Ní Earcáin (Strength Class for Women); Winnie Ryan who recently represented our Club at the HSE SafeTALK suicide prevention training last Saturday in Templemore; Shane Hennessy who completed the JigSaw – One Good Coach module; and Niall Cahill for his involvement in facilitating the Gaelic football taster for Ukranian youths in collaboration with North Tipperary Sports Partnership in August.
Thanks also to the Club Executive for their work drafting and adopting the various Healthy Club policies, and to Mattie for all his support setting up the hall and facilities every week.
We have one new plaque to put on the wall now, Mattie!
We would like to give a big shout out to the Defibs for Life Committee and all the local organisations, charities and voluntary groups we interact with too. We also appreciate all the work of all PROS over the phase of the project who helped raise the profile of health and wellbeing activities.
The countdown to the November FIVE x FIVE Parkrun Challenge 2025 is now on. We also look forward to promoting our fantastic walkway and getting the whole community moving on Slí Éire Óg during the winter ahead. More details to follow!

Camogie News
Under-16
The Under-16s were well beaten by an excellent Boherlahan team in their county semi-final last Tuesday evening in Fethard. Best of luck to both Boherlahan and Borrisoleigh as they progress to the county final. This result brings the Under-16 season to an end. Well done to this excellent panel of young women who will have learnt a great deal from their first season playing at 16A level. Special thanks to their coaches and backroom team for their time and commitment throughout the year.
Intermediate
Action from the intermediate game against Boherlahan Dualla earlier this year
Our Intermediate team made the long trip to Cahir for their championship quarter-final, looking to go one better after losing to the same opposition in last year’s fixture. While we started brightly with a fine point from play by corner forward Niamh Boland, followed by a Clodagh Spain goal, we struggled to find rhythm in the first half. Some excellent free-taking from Grace O’Brien kept us in touch, and we went into the break level at 1-6 to 0-9.
Again, we began the second half positively with a point to take the lead, but we failed to settle and conceded too many soft frees. Cahir then opened a six-point gap which we were unable to close.
The management wish to thank all players for their commitment throughout the year. Although this result did not go our way, the team showed steady progress, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back in 2026.
Club AGM
Our Club AGM will take place in the complex meeting room on Friday, November 7th, 2025. We are seeking new members to join our committee. With the large number of girls now playing camogie and the great work being done by our coaches, joining the committee is a great way to be involved with the club, especially for parents or anyone who might not have time to mentor a team.
Please contact Caitríona at 089 488 3158 or Tom at 085 202 3385 to register your interest.
Club Events
Our annual Camogie Club Table Quiz will take place in Figgerty’s Bar, Summerhill, on Friday, November 14th. This is always a fun night out, so be sure to join us and bring some friends along.
Our street collection will take place on Saturday, November 22nd, in Nenagh.
Congratulations
Congratulations to the Éire Óg senior hurlers on a fantastic performance to win their county semi-final. Best of luck in the final, lads!
Juvenile S&C Programme is Proving to be a Huge Success
Our under-11 management team are arguably the most driven juvenile coaches in the country. Since the boys first joined the club at five years of age, they’ve been put through an intense strength and conditioning programme that would test even seasoned senior players. Some are now comfortably squatting 100kg and gym sessions are as regular as training itself.
Creatine and protein shakes are consumed with religious devotion and last week the coaches decided to finally answer one of the great sporting questions: who are the stronger group — those born in the first half of the year or those in the second?
The fairest way to find out? A no-nonsense Tug of War.
Watch the video below to see which half-year reigned supreme!
