Senior Club Notes
The Nenagh Éire Óg Senior Hurlers play Kildangan this Saturday in the opening group game of the Senior Hurling County Championship. The game is fixed for 6:30 p.m. in Dolla. The club would encourage anyone who can to come out and support the team.
Our Junior A Hurlers play Borris-Ileigh in the League this Friday evening. The game is fixed for 6:00 p.m in MacDonagh Park, Nenagh.
The Junior B League game against Borris-Ileigh on Saturday last was called off due to the pitch being deemed unplayable. This rescheduled fixture will be posted to the club’s website as soon as a new date is set.
Our Minor Footballers play Newport this Wednesday at 6:00 p.m in MacDonagh Park, Nenagh.
County Board Draw: Can all County Board Draw Club promoters please contact Marion Ryan ASAP to bring their accounts up to date.

Juvenile Club Notes
Under-8s: Great turnout for the Under 8s for the last month, keep up the great work! Training continues on Wednesday at 5.15pm.
Under-12s: We were beaten by Ballina in a fantastic game of football in tough conditions. Hard luck to the boys. Training as usual this Friday evening.
Well done to our 4 representatives, Conor Hennessy, Liam Heffernan, Cian Griffin and Gavin Dooley and also to their mentors Shane Connolly and Michael McNamara on their great run with the North Tipp in the Under 15 Roger Ryan County tournament on Saturday. They narrowly lost out to South Tipp on points difference.
Under-14s: The first round of the Under 14 football championship starts this Wednesday against Kilruane in Nenagh at 6.30pm. All support welcome.

Camogie Club Notes
Intermediate: We played Drom and Inch on Saturday last in the final group game of this years league and despite being defeated on a 0-7 to 0-4 scoreline we still qualified for the semi finals where we will face Silvermines this Saturday at 12 noon in The Camogie Grounds, The Ragg. Best of luck to the management and panel and they would really appreciate your support in this important game for our club. Under-16: We played Newport on THURSDAY AT 6;45 in the opening game of the championship and were on the wrong end of a 2-11 to 1-3 scoreline which does not tell the true nature of this game. For a full match report please see our website.
Under-14: We played Éire Óg Annacarthy on Monday evening in the opening round of the championship. We did not have the result at the time of going to press. Please see our website for the result of this fixture.
Under-10 and under-12: Training continues for these teams on Monday and Thursday from 17:30-18:30. New players are always more than welcome.
Under-8: Training for this group is Thursday from 17:30 to 18:30. New players are welcome.
Clothes Collection: We are holding a clothes collection this Saturday April 9th between 10am and 12am in MacDonagh Park. Please bring along all your unwanted clothes, bed linen, curtains, shoes etc to help us raise some badly needed funds. If you cannot make it on the day please contact a committee member who will be delighted to collect your bags prior to the collection.
Registration: This is the final week for registration to be paid. Please pay the manager of your team or any committee member if you have not already done so.
Sponsored Walk: Our annual sponsored walk will be leaving MacDonagh Park on Sunday at 3pm. Best of luck to all involved.
Tipperary: Well done to the Tipperary minor side who had a great win over Offaly at the weekend and have now qualified for the All Ireland semi final against Cork on April 16. We have five girls on the panel, Ruth Hassett, Grace O’ Brien, Hazel McAuliffe, Maeve Coffey and Sarah Quigley and we wish them well against Cork. The Tipperary under-14s reached the final of the Limerick blitz at the weekend and the club were represented by Megan Morris, Abbie Sheedy and Ella Carey. Well done girls.

The talk, which is entitled “Minding the Body, Minding the Mind”, will be given by Dr. Fergus Heffernan PhD, who is a renowned psychologist and psychotherapist and a leading educator in the area of stress management and how it relates to our mental health. Fergus has worked with the Irish Defence Forces, the United Nations and NATO. He is a visiting lecturer and Workshop Director in Trinity College Dublin, Columbia University New York and Boston University USA.

St Patrick Say parade: In keeping a wonderful tradition alive, we invite our U6 & 8, U10 and U12 players to walk with us in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Thursday. A very special welcoming invitation to our new Éire Ógres whom we hope will wear their new shirts and walk with us also. Please meet in the C.B.S. Primary on Summerhill at 1.45pm at latest. Parents must meet their boys in the Railway Station car-park as they arrive back after the parade. We will be there with the Goodie-Bags!
Under-12: Well done to the U12 A football team on a good win away to Inane Rovers on Saturday. We play Silvermines in the next round matches on Saturday at 2pm in Nenagh.
Under-14: Football training continues on Wednesday at 5pm. Your crested gloves can be collected there on receipt of payment. Keep up the hard work lads.
Under-16: Training continues on Wednesday at 5pm. We play in our first round of the football championship against Lorrha Rovers Gaels at home on Saturday at 2pm. Please come out to support the boys.

Tipperary: Hard luck to both the A and B Tipperary under-16 teams who were defeated in their Munster finals in Puckane on Saturday last. The club was well represented on both panels with Niamh Sheridan, Caroline Browne, Rachel Browne and Lily Purcell all involved. Also Greg Browne was part of the management team. Well done to Grace O Brien and Ruth Hassett who were part of the county minor side who had a great win over Clare at the weekend.
Clothes Recycling: We will be having our annual clothes collection on April 9th in the complex in MacDonagh Park. If you are having a Spring clean and would like to get rid of old clothes, curtains, bed sheets, shoes etc please contact any member of the committee and we will be delighted to take them off your hands. Alternatively you can bring them to the hurling field on that particular date.
Flag Day: We are having our annual flag day on March 26th and we need volunteers to do just one hour at various locations around the town. If you are will to donate one hour of your time to help us raise badly needed funds please contact Caitriona Morris 087 777 6135.
Intermediates: We will be facing Drom and Inch in our very first competitive game at the intermediate grade soon. Please check social media and our website www.nenagheireog.com for details of this historical fixture for our club.
Well Done to Barry Heffernan on his league debut with Tipperary v Waterford at the weekend. Well done also to fellow panel members Daire Quinn and Andrew Coffey.
County SH Challenge cup: The 2016 competitive season kicked off on a positive note with a hard earned victory over Templederry in the SH Challenge cup.

Juvenile News
Under-6 & 8: Training has resumed on Saturday mornings at 10am. New members always welcome.
Under-10: Training resumed on Saturday and well done to all for the great turn-out.
Under-12: Our under-12 footballers got off to a winning start against Newport on Sunday. Training continues on Wednesday evening and full attendance required. Our next games are away to Inane Rovers on Saturday.
Under-14: Féile Peil will be held during March so full attendance required now at training. There will be a meeting on Monday at 6.30pm with the new management team and all players are asked to attend.
Under-16: Our match against Lorrha Rovers was postponed due to weather. We travel to Roscrea to play Inane Rovers this weekend. Please check the club website for up to date fixtures.

Handball News
Our deepest sympathies go to the family and friends of the late Ann Meagher on her recent passing. Ann was a passionate supporter of GAA and especially Nenagh Handball where her wonderful legacy to the club are her three children Eoin, Sinéad and Eimear. Congratulations: Congratulations to Cahir on their fantastic win in the All Ireland intermediate camogie final on Sunday last in Croke Park. They have been fantastic ambassadors for our county and we wish them well in the senior grade in 2016.

Éire Ógres: Thank you to the wonderful young stars of our month long ‘Nenagh Éire Ógres GAA For Beginners Camp’ which finished on Saturday. The kids were presented with camp training T-Shirts to help them start their hurling careers in the coming weeks. Many thanks also to the trainers and family members for their support of the kids and club. Under-6 training will commence soon. Please keep an eye on the notes for details.

Under-10: Hurling training resumes on Saturday at 10am.
Under-12: The football championship kicks off this weekend with both A and D teams hosting Newport on Sunday morning. Gum shields compulsory.

Camogie News…
Intermediate: Training for 2016 commenced on Saturday last for the entire panel and will continue again on Tuesday. All players are asked to attend as the league will be starting in the next few weeks.
Under-16: Training for this panel continues on Tuesdays and Fridays. All our other underage teams will be commencing training in the next few weeks and management will be in touch with the details.

Tipperary: Well done to the Tipperary under-16 side which defeated Clare on Sunday. Niamh Sheridan, Rachel O Connor and Caroline Browne all played. County SH Challenge cup: We have been drawn to play Templederry in the SH Challenge cup and this game which is our first completive game of 2016 is scheduled to take place on the w/e of the 6th March.
Harty Cup final: A crowd in excess of 3,000 were in attendance at the weekend for the Harty cup final. Thanks to all members who helped out in preparing the grounds and facilities for the event and also to all those that helped with general stewarding and all the other activities on the day.
Congratulations: Well done to Andrew Coffey and who made his SH league debut against Kikenny at the weekend, following on from Daire Quinn’s debut the previous weekend. Best of luck for the rest of the campaign to Andrew, Daire and Barry Heffernan who are all members of the Tipperary SH panel.

Healthy club initiative: Our thanks to former Tipperary hurler John Leahy on giving a superb enlightening talk titled ‘Substance Awareness” last Saturday evening in the Complex. He spoke to the many teenagers in attendance and their parents about the dangers of substance abuse at a young age and also gave a fascinating insight into his own sporting life both on and off the field.

Éire Ógres camp: Our Éire Ógres GAA for Beginners camp finishes on Saturday. All registered members will be presented with a cert and a special t-shirt as a reward on the day.
Juvenile registration: Juvenile registration will take place on Saturday morning, February 27th from 10am-11am. Membership costs €25 for the year and we will have subsidised helmets and hurleys for sale on the day.
Under-12: Training continues at 6.30pm on Monday evenings. Gum shields are compulsory. The first football championship match will be on March 5th.

CAMOGIE:
Tipperary: Sunday was a very proud day for the club as Alanna Morris became the second player from Nenagh Éire Óg (Ciara McGrath being the first) to play a competitive game for the county senior side as she came on at corner back in the league game on Sunday in The Ragg against Galway. We hope this will be the beginning of many appearances in the senior set up from Alanna. We also send our congratulations to the county minor side who won against Kilkenny, the reigning all Ireland champions, by two points. Grace O Brien and Hazel McAuliffe both played and had fine games while we also had three more players on the panel, Ruth Hassett, Maeve Coffey and Sarah Quigley.
Under 16: Training continues for this panel every Tuesday evening in the complex in MacDonagh Park at 7pm in the hall.

Congratulations: Well done to Daire Quinn who made his SH league debut against Dublin at the weekend. Best of luck for the rest of the campaign to Daire, Barry Heffernan and Andrew Coffey who are also members of the Tipperary SH panel.

Éire Ógres camp: The Éire Ógres themed GAA camp for beginners will continue on Saturday from 10-11am. Many thanks to the kids, their families and coaches for making this such a wonderful month. Please ensure that any child participating but has not yet registered does so immediately to receive their T-Shirt.
Juvenile registration: Registration for all juveniles for 2016 will take place on Friday 19th Feb from 6pm to 7pm and Saturday mornings 20th and 27th from 10am to 11am.
Healthy club initiative: A talk by former Tipperary hurler John Leahy titled ‘Substance Awareness” has been organized for Saturday Feb 20th at 7:30pm in the Complex. While primarily targeted at u14, u16, minors players and their parents from the juvenile and camogie club, all club players and members are invited to attend. Now a qualified addiction counsellor, John works with the HSE and voluntary bodies as a drug education officer in the area of helping people overcome problems with substance abuse.

Intermediate: Our intermediate panel will be resuming training in the very near future and manager Paul Henry will be in contact soon with the details.
Under-16: Our under-16 team resume training for 2016 on Tuesday evening at 7pm.
Tipperary: Best wishes to Alanna Morris and the Tipperary senior team in their match next Sunday in the Ragg. Also good luck to the county minor side who face Kilkenny on Sunday in a Kilkenny venue and especially our players on the panel.
North SH Championship: The Senior Hurlers have been drawn to play Templederry in the first round of the North senior hurling championship. The remaining divisional League and championship draws will be made in the coming weeks. The first round of the SH county league is scheduled to commence on the weekend of the 5th / 6th March.
National Clubs draw: The Nenagh Éire Óg club is participating in the 2016 national club draw and all tickets sellers are asked to return tickets ASAP. The top prize is an Opel Corsa and the other prizes include a trip for 2 with the All Stars next year, All Ireland Hurling and Football Final Packages for 2 (including premium level tickets, overnight accommodation and an evening meal) and travel vouchers. In total there are 14 prizes. This year, the GAA is introducing a specific draw for all clubs who record, account for and sell a minimum of 200 tickets whereby one club in each county will receive a prize of €1,000. A draw will also be take place for all Counties whereby 3 clubs will receive a prize of €5,000 and the Club with the highest ticket sales in each Province will receive a prize of €1,000. Furthermore there will also be a confined draw for €500 specifically for people who enter the draw through the Nenagh Éire Óg club. Tickets are priced at €10 and available from draw coordinator Derek Lillis any officer of the club or committee member. Please support the Blues in this fundraising initiative!

Juvenile club news
Éire Ógres are back: A big welcome and well done to our many new Nenagh Éire Ógres who started their four week camp last Saturday morning. There was great fun had and a fantastic atmosphere in the hall. We can’t wait to have you all back next Saturday. This program is open to all boys born 2009-2011. Perfect for junior/senior infants and boys of the age who will start school in September to get active after the long winter, improve their hand/eye coordination and agility and make friends in a safe and fun environment. No equipment is needed, just tracksuit and trainers. Tea/coffee/scones will be provided for parents. Under-6 hurlers who enjoyed last year’s camp so much are very welcome to return to catch up with their friends. The cost is €10 for the month and the boys will be presented with a certificate and a special new design Éire Ógres t-shirt on completion of the course. Camogie club news
Winter Training: Our winter training continues for all our teams. On Tuesday in the running complex in Ballygraigue there is a session for our under-10, under-12 and under-14 teams from 19:20 – 20:00, for under-14, under-16, under-18 and intermediate from 19:50 to 20:30. There is also a strength and conditioning session on Friday evenings in the complex in MacDonagh Park. Times for this session will be relayed to the players on Tuesday evening. A cost of €2 will cover both sessions. All our teams will be back training soon and mentors will be in contact with the details.
National Club Draw: The club are currently selling tickets for the National Club Draw at a cost of €10. There are fabulous prizes on offer including an Opel Corsa and everyone who purchases a ticket through the club will be entered into a separate draw for €500. Tickets can be purchased through any committee member or by contacting draw co-ordinator Derek Lillis on 086-8614863. Please return all tickets by this Friday.

Tipperary: The Under-14 Tipperary trials were on last weekend. Ella Carey, Abbie Sheedy, Maeghan Morris, Lily O Brien, Naoise McLoone and Sarah Hallinan represented the club at these trails. Best of luck to all the girls involved. The Tipperary Minors played a challenge at the weekend against Limerick in Ballagran. There are five Nenagh girls involved with this Tipperary Panel – Grace O Brien, Hazel McAuiffe, Sarah Quigley, Ruth Hassett and Maeve Coffey. This team will commence its All Ireland Championship campaign on February 20th. The Tipperary Senior camogie team also played against Limerick at the weekend and our own Alanna Morris started her first senior match. This team will commence its National League on the weekend of February 20th.

St Mary’s Primary School: Four of our Junior players, Hazel Coffey, Sarah Kennedy, Maeve Coffey and Rita Bourke, returned to their old primary school – St. Marys Convent of Mercy, Nenagh with their winning cups after winning both the Junior A League & Championship. They were very warmly received by both the staff and pupils.
North Board Presentation: The annual divisional awards were presented in The Thatch, Ballycommon on Sunday last the 31st January. Congratulations to Andrew Coffey who received the player of the year award in U21 hurling.

National Clubs draw: The Nenagh Éire Óg club is participating in the 2016 national club draw which features some sensational prizes. The top prize is an Opel Corsa and the other prizes include a trip for 2 with the All Stars next year, All Ireland Hurling and Football Final Packages for 2 (including premium level tickets, overnight accommodation and an evening meal) and travel vouchers. In total there are 14 prizes. This year, the GAA is introducing a specific draw for all clubs who record, account for and sell a minimum of 200 tickets whereby one club in each county will receive a prize of €1,000. A draw will also be take place for all Counties whereby 3 clubs will receive a prize of €5,000 and the Club with the highest ticket sales in each Province will receive a prize of €1,000. Furthermore there will also be a confined draw for €500 specifically for people who enter the draw through the Nenagh Éire Óg club. Tickets are priced at €10 and available from draw coordinator Derek Lillis any officer of the club or committee member. Please support the Blues in this fundraising initiative!

Juvenile club flag day: Thanks to everyone who assisted and supported our Juvenile Flag Day on Saturday and weekend Masses. Your kindness is much appreciated.
Éire Ógres are back: Nenagh Éire Óg GAA Camp For Beginners returns for 2016 each Saturday, February 6th to 27th, at the MacDonagh Park complex on St. Conlon’s Road from 10-11am. This program is open to all boys born 2009-2011. Perfect for junior/senior infants and boys of the age who will start school in September to get active after the long winter, improve their hand/eye coordination and agility and make friends in a safe and fun environment. No equipment is needed, just tracksuit and trainers. Tea/coffee/scones will be provided for parents. Under-6 hurlers who enjoyed last year’s camp so much are very welcome to return to catch up with their friends. The cost is €10 for the month and the boys will be presented with a certificate and a special new design Éire Ógres t-shirt on completion of the course.

Handball Club: The Secondary Schools County finals took place in North Tipperary on Saturday. In the girls junior singles Mary Ellen Phelan, Presentation, Thurles defeated Nenagh Handball Club’s Katie Morris, St. Mary’s Nenagh in the final, while in the junior doubles Sile Spain and Eimear Meagher (Nenagh Handball Club) got the better of Lauren McGuigan and Maeve McNeill, Presentation, Thurles. Our own Sinéad Meagher, St. Mary’s Nenagh beat Roisín Cahill, Borrisokane CC in her county final. Well done to our three girls on great performances. The Munster Schools finals will be held in North Tipp this weekend. The best of luck to all involved. Please check club Facebook page for fixtures updates. The 2016 Cumann Na mBunscoill Munster Handball Finals, are fixed for Saturday 6th February 2016 in Ballydesmond in Cork. On Tuesday in the running complex in Ballygraigue there is a session for our under-10, under-12 and under-14 teams from 19:20 – 20:00, for under-14, under-16, under-18 and intermediate from 19:50 to 20:30. There is also a strength and conditioning session on Friday evenings in the complex in MacDonagh Park. Times for this session will be relayed to the players on Tuesday evening. A cost of €2 will cover both sessions. All our teams will be back training soon and mentors will be in contact with the details.

Under-21A: Our U21A hurlers bowed out of the county championship last weekend when losing to a better all-round Thurles Sarsfields side. Well done to the players and team management, whom despite the inclement weather that has been associated with this campaign from the start, put in a huge effort and workload over the past few weeks which saw us secure a North title along the way. Congratulations to Thurles Sarsfields and we wish them well in the County final. This ends our 2015 activities as we now look to 2016.

Camogie:
Medal Presentation: In 2015 our camogie section reached another milestone when they captured both the county Junior-A league and championship double. This great panel of players received their hard earned medals at a function in the Hibernian Inn on Friday evening last. We wish to thank Martin Morris and his staff for the warm welcome and hospitality, Caitriona Morris and the camogie committee for organising the event and all who showed up on the night to share with the ladies their great success. We also wish to thank Collin’s Bakery Nenagh for kindly baking a cake to celebrate our promotion to the intermediate ranks. The players will be back training shortly in preparation for 2016 and we wish them and their new manager Paul Henry the very best of luck for the year ahead.
