All in the club are saddened by the news of the passing of John Lawlor.
John served as chairman, secretary and treasurer of Nenagh Éire Óg throughout the 1960s and 1970s. He played hurling and Gaelic football for the club as well as working as a mentor for numerous Gaelic football and hurling teams from juvenile right up to senior. He was the club’s representative to both the North and County Board and was Bord na nÓg secretary between 1964 and 1967.
Later in life he moved to Kilruane MacDonagh’s where he continued his lifelong service to the GAA acting as an administrator and selector with various teams.
His son David played in goals for Nenagh Éire Óg in recent years.
His funeral arrangements are as follows: Reposing at Ryan’s Funeral Home, Nenagh this Wednesday from 4 o’c with removal at 7 o’c to arrive to St. Michael and John’s Church, Cloughjordan at 8 o’c. Requiem Mass on Thursday at 11 o’c followed by burial in Grawn Graveyard.
Nenagh Éire Óg will be providing a guard of honour from Ryan’s Funeral Home at 7pm tomorrow evening and all members are invited to participate.
