Nenagh Éire Óg recovered a six-point deficit in the opening half to beat west Tipperary’s Clonoulty-Rossmore for the first time in senior championship hurling on Sunday evening at The Ragg.

Two Donnacha Quinn points (one free, one ’65) got Éire Óg off to an encouraging start and by the third minute the Blues led 0-2 to no-score.
Éire Óg were playing into a stiff breeze and Clonoulty-Rossmore soon took advantage hitting 0-3 without reply to take the lead in the tenth minute.
A Killian Gleeson point tied the game a minute later, but Clonoulty-Rossmore poured forward and landed five consecutive points to take a 0-9 to 0-3 lead.
A Tommy Heffernan point brought 18 scoreless minutes to a close and at the break the Blues trailed 0-4 to 0-9.
In the opening minute of the second half a stunning long-range point from the stick of wing-back Billy Heffernan set the tone.
Barry Heffernan (free) and Donnacha Quinn then added points to leave just two in it (0-7 to 0-9) by the 33rd minute.
In the 34th Tommy Heffernan set up Killian Gleeson for a smashing goal and Éire Óg led 1-7 to 0-9.
A Paddy Murphy point then added to the Blues’ tally – Éire Óg had now scored 1-4 without reply in eight minutes.
To their credit Clonoulty-Rossmore hit back with two points book-ending a Donnacha Quinn free.
A Michael Heffernan point in the 44th minute helped Éire Óg into a 1-10 to 0-11 lead, but Clonoulty-Rossmore hit back to leave the minimum between them.
Éire Óg asserted themselves with points from Pearse Morris and Donnacha Quinn (two frees) to open a four-point gap (1-13 to 0-12) by the 51st minute. Clonoulty-Rossmore responded once more, however, with four points leaving the sides all square (1-13 to 0-16) by the 58th.
Éire Óg finished strong with two Michael Heffernan points sealing the win.
