North Tipperary Junior A Hurling League
Nenagh Éire Óg 0-10 Knockshegowna 0-10
In greasy conditions Nenagh Éire Óg battled gamely against Knockshegowna (the 2013 North Tipperary Junior A champions), but there was nothing to separate the sides at referee TP Sullivan’s final whistle.
Knockshegowna took an 0-2 to no-score lead before Éire Óg responded to level the game by the tenth minute with points from Aidan Healy and John Cahalan.
Knockshegowna and Éire Óg then traded frees before Bob O’Brien picked out David Hackett with a cross-field ball and Davy handed the Blues a 0-4 to 0-3 advantage in the 22nd minute.
During the remaining minutes of the opening half the sides shared five converted frees (Éire Óg two, Knockshegowna three) to leave the score 0-6 apiece at the break.
Two John Cahalan points helped Éire Óg into a 0-8 to 0-7 lead by the 38th minute, but Knockshegowna responded to tie the game.
The sides traded frees before a David Cleary point in the 55th minute helped the home side into a 0-10 to 0-9 lead. To their credit Knockshegowna held their nerve and won a late free which guaranteed Knockshe a share of the points – in all Knockshegowna scored 0-9 from frees.
