Éire Óg enjoyed a four-point win (0-20 to 2-10) over Ballingarry in the County Senior Hurling Cup at MacDonagh Park, Nenagh on Sunday afternoon, March 24th.
Despite playing into an absolute gale in the opening half Éire Óg led 0-10 to 0-7 at the break with Kevin Tucker accounting for 0-6 of the Nenagh tally.
Some fine attacking play in the opening ten minutes of the second half helped Éire Óg into a 0-15 to 0-8 lead.
Ballingarry, however, struck back with two goals in the 43rd and 45th minutes to cut the deficit to the very minimum (0-15 to 2-8).
Éire Óg closed out the game impressively however out-scoring the visitors 0-5 to 0-2 in the final quarter of this encounter.
Éire Óg have been drawn against Kilruane MacDonagh’s in the semi-finals of the Dr Fogarty Cup – date/venue TBC. Burgess take on Clonoulty-Rossmore in their respective semi-final.
