Ger Gavin Memorial Tournament

Nenagh Éire Óg will hold the inaugural Ger Gavin Memorial Tournament on Sat 15^th Oct. This will be an U21 tournament and the participating clubs will be Kilmacud Crokes, Ahane, Clooney Quinn and Nenagh Éire Óg. Games will start at 12pm with each team playing 3 games. Lotto

Next week’s lotto Jackpot will be €4,000. As our lotto continues weekly we thank everyone for your continued support. If you have not yet joined our lotto or if your ticket has recently expired, please consider signing up again – it is our main fundraiser and contributes enormously to the day to day running of the club.

And the lotto can now be played in the following businesses in the town – The Hi-B, JKC, Centra, Rockies, Cleary’s Daybreak & Andys. So look out for our new lotto boxes in these places where you can buy your lotto tickets each week and they will be included in the next lotto draw.

Development Update

Work continues on the field with the diggers back on site over the past few weeks. A big few weeks now lie ahead as we reach the final stages of this phase of the project – drainage systems will be prepared and the field then levelled out with topsoil and sand. The costs continue to be a major part of this and so we are continuing to seek funding for this phase of the project. Our membership packages are still open and we thank everyone who has contributed to this to date. If you would like to avail of any of these packages, please contact any club officer or committee member for more information. Donations can also be made electronically – bank details available from Anne Kennedy & John Tooher. Please be sure to include your details if transferring money to this dedicated fundraising account.

Tipperary Draw

The first draw in the 2022/23 Tipperary draw was held last Friday night and the club had two winners – congrats to Joe Donoghue and Marion Ryan who each won €300 each. We would like to thank all those who supported the draw once again this year and also to all our promoters and to Marion and Bartley Ryan for the work they have put in over the last number of weeks. The next draw will take place on Friday 14^th Oct. It’s still not too late to join for the remaining draws, please contact Bartley Ryan or any Club Officer if you wish to join.

JUVENILE NEWS

Club Fundraiser – Annual Monster Draw for a trailer load of firewood

Our annual Monster Draw for a trailer load of firewood will take place this coming Saturday, October 8th. All groups have been given cards to sell lines for entry to the draw, each line/entry is €2. Cards can be returned to the lead coach before training this week or alternatively we will be in the clubhouse next weekend to collect returned cards, times and dates will be circulated on WhatsApp. Also on next Saturday, October 8^th, we will be selling lines to the general public at various stations in town, the prize will be on display in town at the same time. Your support of the Monster Draw is very much appreciated

Club Development – Phase II Funding

In order to achieve the next phase in our development goals for our club a number of fundraising options including bank account details have been circulated to the juvenile groups in the last few weeks. If any of these options suit you and you wish to participate please contact Anne Kennedy (087 1336024) or John Tooher (087 950 0912) with a WhatsApp message so that we can organise your receipt and Enda Long can then record your new membership details.

Nenagh Éire Óg Gaelic Games Youth Academy

The Nenagh Eire Og Gaelic Games Youth Academy proudly sponsored by Albany Home Decor & A Sportsmans Dream welcomes new members to the club, training times for the various age groups as per below, contact the club social media sites with any questions.

Under 7

There are no more midweek trainings this year but training continues on Saturday mornings from 10-11am on the outside field. New players are always welcome to come along, so any boys born in the years 2015/16 please come along. For further information please contact Alan on 087-7518789.

Under 9

Training will be on Saturday mornings only from this week forward, no training on Wednesday evening next. New boys born in 2013 and 2014 are always welcome to join. Contact Cathal on 086 080 6460 or the club social media sites with any queries.

Under 11

Training on Wednesday and Friday at 6p.m for hurling. The boys welcomed Turloughmore of Galway last weekend for some very exciting matches. Thanks to everyone who helped out to make the morning a great success.

New players born in 2011 and 2012 are welcome to come along and give it a try. Contact 0874086439 for more details.

Under 13

Under 13 boys will be entering the upcoming Michael Hogan tournament, any boy from this group who is interested in playing drop a text into the U13 WhatsApp group.

Under 15

The Under 15 hurlers bowed out of the North championship last Tuesday to Toomevara. Wishing Toome all the best in the remainder of the competition.

Under 17

Our Under 17 team lost out to a very talented Holycross team in the county semi-final on Sunday last. Wishing Holycross all the best in the final. Thanks to all supporters who travelled on Sunday. Attention now turns to the football championship.

CAMOGIE NEWS

Under 15 – County Champions

Congratulations to our under 15 girls, who put in a super performance to beat St. Rita’s Fethard in their county final in Boherlahan on Saturday afternoon. It was a hard-fought victory but the girls have put in great work at training all year and it came to fruition as we dominated the second half to win 2-5 to 1-2. Team captain Niamh Boland accepted the cup for Nenagh and great celebrations followed.

A big thanks to all the supporters who travelled to Boherlahan. The support was all positive and vocal and it was fantastic for the girls to share their great day with everyone.

Special mention must go to Breda, Criona and Paula who have looked after the girls so well, sorted and washed the jerseys and taken care of First Aid for the season. Thanks ladies!

The management also want to thank Paul and Sharon O’Farrell for so generously presenting the team with club gearbags before the final. You can’t be the part without looking the part!

Seniors

No date yet for Shield final v Silvermines. Training continues on Monday and Thursday 7p.m.

Under 13s

We have 2 games coming up this week. First we play Lorrha in Lorrha on Tuesday evening at 6pm.On Saturday afternoon we play Ballina in our final group game.

Training Thursday evening 6pm.

Under 12s

The U12s finished their season with a fun-filled training session on Thurs eve last. The girls have been training and playing matches since the end of Jan, they have made really great progress and both U12 teams had a very successful year. Thanks to the coaches and mentors and, of course, to parents for all their support throughout. The best of luck to our girls who are involved in the U13 development league and to all our girls who are progressing to U14 next year.

Under 10s

The U10s travelled to St Ailbe’s in Limerick for the final match of the season and their were lots of positives with the girls showing plenty of heart and skill against strong opponents. No game next weekend. All the coaches wish to thank all the parents for their help and support all season. See you all in Spring 2023, girls born in 2012 will move up to the U12s next year and girls born in 2014 will move up to the U10s.

Under 8s

The U8s finished up their season in Nenagh College where they received medals to celebrate being outstanding players this year.

Thanks to Head coaches Deirdre and Paul who were ably assisted all season by Hugh, Sarah, George, Áine, Lisa, Evelyn, and Michael.

Hope to see all the girls back next year. The numbers are fantastic at U8 level with approx 40 players this season. Thanks to the parents for bringing them every week and make sure they practice a bit over the winter.
