Camogie News

Our under-12 camogie team
Under-12
We were delighted to host the first Under-12 North County Camogie Blitz of the year in MacDonagh Park on Saturday, 28th March. Ten clubs took part, and it was fantastic to see all the girls showcasing such skill and teamwork throughout the games.
We fielded two teams and played against Newport Ballinahinch, Portroe, Silvermines, Kiladangan, Kilruane and Roscrea. Our girls played their hearts out, with many skilful displays across all matches. It was a great opportunity to face a variety of teams and a valuable, enjoyable experience for all involved.
Well done to everyone involved, especially the Development Committee for organising. Thank you to all the players, coaches and supporters who made the blitz such a success.
Under-16
The Under-16 girls played Cashel in the Shield quarter-final on Saturday, 28th March in Nenagh. The girls performed well throughout in a tight contest but finished strongly to come out on top.
The semi-final is due to be played in two weeks’ time. Training continues as usual this week on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
Intermediate
We played Newport/Ballinahinch in the second round of the league on Friday evening, 27th March. We conceded a goal in the first half which proved decisive, as we failed to take our chances, particularly in the second half.
Final score: Nenagh Éire Óg 0-5 Newport/Ballinahinch 1-4.
Junior-C

A small piece of history was made on Sunday evening, 29th March as, for the first time in the camogie club, we fielded a second adult team when our Junior C side lined out against Kiladangan.
The team was largely made up of Under-16 and Under-17 players, and great credit is due to all the camogie coaches who have supported these girls in progressing through the age grades to adult level.
Vanessa Tynan had the honour of captaining the team and led by example on the field.
Playing with a strong wind in the first half, we went in trailing 3-1 to 1-5. The girls battled back well, and three second-half goals, including one each from Grace Peters and Sarah Slattery, brought us level on the stroke of 50 minutes. We had several chances to push ahead, but efforts dropped short in the difficult conditions.
Kiladangan finished strongly in injury time and found the net to secure the win.
Final score: Nenagh Éire Óg 4-5 Kiladangan 7-5.
