Junior Football

Well done to our Junior B Footballers who recorded a 2-8 to 2-5 win over Silvermines in the North semi final in Dolla on Sunday. They now play Shannon Rovers in the North Final – fixture to be confirmed.

Junior Hurling

Our Junior A hurlers are preparing for their Co semi final against Mid Champions, Holycross. This game will be played on Sunday 31st Oct at 1.30 in Dolla.

U21 Hurling

The North U21 hurling championship is due to commence in the middle of November.

Lotto

There was no winner of tonight’s lotto jackpot. The numbers drawn were 1, 2, 16 & 21. The 3 X €50 winners this week are:

Timber & Turf Draw/Auction

Over the next two weekends the Club is holding a Timber & Turf Draw and Auction. The Draw for Firewood and Turf will be held on Sat 23^rd Oct and all our juvenile boys and girls are selling lines for this at the moment. Lines, at just €2 each, will also be on sale on the streets of the town on Sat next, 23rd Oct. If you cannot avail of the opportunity to buy lines there is also a gofundme page where donations can be made and your donation will be converted to lines. The link to this gofundme page is below:

Condolences

We extend our sympathies to the family of the late Bobby Shoer who passed away last week. We also sympathise with the Fogarty family, Summerhill, on the passing of Michael Fogarty over the weekend. Both Bobby and Michael played with Nenagh Éire Óg in their younger days. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a n-anamacha.

Hurling Wall

With our hurling wall and astro turf up and running over the last number of weeks, we are delighted to announce that GAA President, Larry McCarthy, will officially open this fantastic facility on Sunday 23rd January 2022. The Club will organise an event for this day over the coming months.

JUVENILE NEWS

Nenagh Éire Óg Timber & Turf Monster Draw 2021
As we all know, this has been a busy year for our club, both on and off the field. Our fantastic new AstroTurf and Ballwall is now up and running, thanks to the generosity of our members and the wider public.
However, the pandemic has impacted many of our normal avenues of income for the club. Activities have been severely curtailed for much of 2021, so we are seeking other ways to raise funds to defray the day-to-day costs of running and maintaining the club. On October 23rd 2021, we are holding a Monster Timber & Turf Draw.
We hope to sell as many lines as possible and so have set up a gofundme page to allow people to participate in this important initiative. So please share this link with as many people as possible – every little helps!

The lotto has always been one of our main fundraisers and with our current club developments it is of great importance to us now that everyone continues to row in behind our lotto and we continue to increase the Nenagh Éire Óg online club lotto subscriptions. We are asking our juvenile families and supporters to play our club lotto online. It costs just €2 per week to play safely online and there are different payment plans available.

Under 9

Under 9 hurlers travelled to Dúrlas Óg on Saturday morning and played three very competitive games which wrapped up this season’s games on a very positive note. The last training session of the year will take place next Saturday morning and the group will close the year the following Saturday with a morning of fun at a very special location.

Under 11

The Under 11 boys took part in the Michael Hogan Festival of football. We had two teams taking part. One team played against JK Brackens, Fethard and Newport in Templemore. The other team played against Aherlow and JK Brackens twice. Thanks to both clubs for hosting the tournaments. Great fun was had with huge progress evident throughout the day. Thanks to all the parents for supporting the boys on the day.

Hurling training continues for the U11 group on Tuesday and Friday evenings on the new astro turf and hurling wall.

Football Boots Wanted

Our senior hurling captain, Tommy Heffernan, is asking people to donate any old pairs of boots that may be lying around at home for young boys or girls between the ages of 12-18 or whatever sizes you have available.

Tommy teaches in a Deis school in Limerick and unfortunately not all students here can access or afford football boots to participate in sports. Please contact Tommy at 086-224-3635 if you can donate, all donations would be greatly appreciated.

CAMOGIE NEWS

Seniors

Nenagh seniors bowed out of the championship after losing to Annacarty at the Quarter Final stage at the weekend. After conceding an early goal, the girls fought back well and were unlucky not to convert two golden goal chances. Had these been taken, an upset might have been on the cards. As it was, apart from the goal, it was score for score in the first half. But a poor third quarter led to Annacarty pushing ahead and despite some heroic Nenagh performances, Annacarty proved to be too strong and ran out comfortable winners.

Scores in the match for Nenagh came from Grace O’Brien, 5 points, a goal from Maeve Coffey and points from Michelle Collins, Zoey Gratton and Ciara MCGrath. Final score 3.17 to 1.08.

The Nenagh girls will rue lost opportunities over the coarse of the championship when a limited panel number was very evident. However the break over winter allows this team to regroup and hopefully with much needed new blood, will see a more determined outfit back training for next year’s campaign. The management team of Greg Browne, Pat McCormack and Catriona Morris would like to thank the squad for their commitment and the Camogie committee for their support throughout the year.

Under 15s

Our U15s played Silvermines in McDonagh Park on Sunday morning. Despite a great performance by Nenagh in the first half, Silvermines pulled away in the 3rd quarter and finished the game strongly.

Training continues 7pm Monday and Thursday.

Our next game is next Saturday morning at 11am v Thurles Sarsfields.

Under 12s

U12 training continues Monday and Wednesday 6-7pm.

Under 10s

U10 training continues on Thursday 6-7pm at the new hurling wall.
