Notice Regarding Training
Following this week’s government Covid 19 announcement regarding stricter guidelines it was incumbent on the Club Senior, Juvenile and Camogie Officers to discuss our next steps to ensure all our members’ safety.
Our unanimous decision is that all junior or minor squad training in any format is to be put on hold and we will review future operations on a weekly basis.
Juvenile training can continue but on the strict condition that all GAA and government guidelines are rigidly adhered to.
Any breach by any squad will result in a total training lockdown for all squads.
While we recognise this will have an impact on all individuals, the health and safety on the wider front is our main priority. We deem the risk to continue in our present format is far too great.
By following these guidelines it will help us protect ourselves from the very serious impact of the COVID-19 virus.
Thanking you all in anticipation of your full cooperation.
John Tooher
Chairman.
Juvenile News
Under-8
Our Under eight boys close out their 2020 season this week. On Saturday morning last saw the Under eight boys take to the training field for the last time this season.
Sincere thank you to Mike Corrigan, Cathal Farrell and all the brilliant coaches who trained the boys all season. We can all agree that the boys have come on in leaps and bounds during this season and credit must go to the coaching group who facilitated the boys progress. We found ourselves in unusual and challenging circumstances this season but the most was made of it through the great teamwork within the management group who look after these boys.
Thank you to Covid officers Eileen Kennedy, Denise Corrigan, Denise Farrell and Therese Donnellan who together ensured a safe environment for the boys to enjoy their hurling and football.
Best wishes to the boys going up to under ten next season. We very much look forward to having everyone back training next season and to all the new faces coming up from under six.
Keep the hurleys in hand boys over the offseason, make use of the new sliotar you got in your goody bag, a few minutes every day will do.
Under-10
Under ten boys took a break from training this week in light of the changing situation. We plan to continue to train on Saturday mornings and will monitor this weekly in light of any forthcoming changes to GAA guidelines. Please keep encouraging the boys to pick up the hurley at home and practice daily.
Under-16
Under sixteen football training continues each week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. This will be monitored in light of any changes to GAA guidelines.
Fixtures
All competitive games are suspended currently in light of the recent guidelines.
Other Business
Thank you to all the parents who encourage practicing of both codes at home, please continue to encourage the children to pick up the hurley or football and get a few minutes of practice in each day.
Please continue to follow the GAA and HSE Covid safety guidelines. A reminder to all that the Nenagh Éire Óg clubhouse is closed to all for the coming weeks. Stay safe everyone.
Thank you to all those who have already signed up online to the new Nenagh Éire Óg club lotto. Please visit www.nenagheireog.com for anyone else who wishes to join. Great to see a number of juvenile club mentors and parents represented in the supplementary draw.
