Well done to our Junior A hurlers who won their second match of the 2018 North Tipperary Junior A hurling league with a deserved eight-point win over Knockshegowna in Ballingarry this evening. Played in miserable conditions the team followed up their great win over Kilruane MacDonaghs with another fine performance.
The team was as follows: Dáire Gleeson, Connie O’ Reilly, Brian Tuite, Alex Jones, Conor Bonar, Brian Maxwell, Mark Flannery, Niall McKeogh, Christopher Ryan, John Cahalan, Killian Malone, Darragh Walsh, Craig Hilmi, Niall Madden, Adam Healy. Substitutions: David Cleary, Peter Folan, Thomas O’ Brien, Michael Collins.
This year the Junior A team are managed by Liam Heffernan, Derek Lillis, Cian Tucker, John O’ Donoghue and Billy Flannery.
Barry Heffernan has been selected to play wing back on Sunday in the Allianz National Hurling League Final against Kilkenny

The Nenagh Eire Og Juvenile Section is holding a fundraising table quiz in The Dapp Inn on Thursday 16th March 2017. Commencing at 9pm, all are welcome to this social event which guarantees a good time, some brainteasing and a perfect way to start the long weekend. Please come along, bring some friends and get to know other parents/members in a friendly and enjoyable atmosphere.
Our Senior Hurlers began their League Campaign with a 1-21 to 2-12 victory over Thurles Sarsfields. Please note our next match against Portroe has been moved forward, and will now take place this Friday at 11:00 a.m.
Under 6s:
Training continues for U6’s from 10-11am indoors.We hope to see lots of the U6’s and parents out marching in the Patrick’s Day parade in their new Eire Ogre jerseys or club colours.
Under 12s:U12s got off to a good start with a win and a draw. Training as usual this week.
Under 16s:
U16 footballers had a good win over Ballinahinch/Templederry in Nenagh with a scoreline of 5-11 to 0-6. Next game away to Kilruane this Saturday, March 18th, at 3pm.
The draw for the 2017 Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship takes place on Monday next, January 23rd between 7:00 and 8:00 p.m, and will be broadcast live on Tipp FM’s Extra Time show with Ronan Quirke. The Senior Championship, as in previous years, is divided in to Roinn I and Roinn II. Nenagh Éire Óg will this year be entered in to the Roinn I section of the draw, as a third seed.
In Roinn I the 16 participating teams are divided into four seeded groups with each club playing all other group members. Following three rounds of games, each group winner qualifies for the county quarter-finals while each group runner-up battles it out with the divisional champions (if not already qualified) in the preliminary quarter-finals. The last placed teams in each group play-off in two games with the individual game losers demoted to Roinn II for 2018.
Thirteen teams in all will compete in Roinn II in 2017. There is, however, a significant change to the format of Roinn II for the coming season. The teams, similarly to Roinn I, will be divided into four groups with the group winners and runners-up progressing to the quarter-finals of the Ó Riain Cup. The winner of that round of games qualifies for the semi-finals of the Ó Riain Cup, while both finalists are promoted to Roinn I for 2018.
The only way for Roinn II teams to compete for the Dan Breen Cup in 2017 is by winning their respective Divisional Championship, thereby qualifying for a preliminary quarter-final against a second-placed team from a Roinn I group.
Each club in Roinn I has been seeded based on their performances in the County Championship last year, the full seedings are as follows.
The draw for the North Championship will take place at a later date, usually in the Hibernian Inn, Nenagh.
Senior Club Notes
Senior: Senior hurlers won their second game of the 2016 County Championship, beating Templederry Kenyons on a scoreline of 1-27 to 2-13. Our next and final group game will be against Mullinahone-CJ Kickhams, with a date and venue yet to be confirmed.
Junior: Junior B hurlers overcame Moneygall by 1-13 to 0-14 in Moneygall on Friday Night. They next play Newport, in Newport on Monday May 2nd at 7:00 p.m.
Minor: Our Minor Footballers play Newport in Nenagh this Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.

Juvenile Club Notes
Under-16 Our Footballers defeated Kilruane in Cloughjordan on Monday night last in Round 5 of the championship on a scoreline of 2-13 to 2-10. Well done to the boys! The win sets up a semi-final meeting with Lorrha/Shannon Rovers in Ballinderry on this Monday night at 6.30pm. Please come out and support the team. Best wishes for a speedy recovery to Sean Shanahan who was injured in the minor game on Wednesday.
Under-14 Our footballers were beaten by Inane Rovers in their second group game of the championship played last Wednesday evening. They travel to Dolla this Wednesday to play Silvermines at 6.30pm in round 3.
Under-12 Our under-12s put in a great performance in the semi-final on Friday last but unfortunately came up short at the final whistle, so that is the end of the football for the moment. Hurling training as usual this week and the hurling championship will start in a few weeks time so full attendance at training is essential.
Under-8 Great turnouts for Under-8 training. Matches will be organised over the next few weeks. Keep up the good work boys!
Under-12: We were beaten by Kilruane MacDonaghs on Thursday last. Mentors will be in touch with the details of our next game.
Under-14: Our game v Eire Og Annacarthy was postponed and we are playing Toomevara in Nenagh Thursday at 6pm.
Under-16: Our game against Cashel this Tuesday is postponed until a later date.
Intermediate: We face Drom and Inch on Saturday next in the county league final in The Camogie Grounds, The Ragg. This is a massive game for our club and the girls would really appreciate your support. Please check our website and social media for details of the game during the week.
Tipperary: The All Ireland minor final ended in a draw on Saturday last with the replay expected to take place this Saturday. Best of luck to all our players on the panel. Also good luck to the Tipperary under-14’s who take part in the Clare blitz on bank holiday Monday. Megan Morris, Ella Carey and Abbie Sheedy are the Nenagh girls involved.

Congratulations: Well done to Daire Quinn who made his SH league debut against Dublin at the weekend. Best of luck for the rest of the campaign to Daire, Barry Heffernan and Andrew Coffey who are also members of the Tipperary SH panel.
County Challenge Cup: Our senior hurlers have been drawn to meet Templederry in the county challenge cup. Incredibly both clubs were also drawn to meet in the county championship and in the North championship.
County SH Championship: We are drawn to meet Kiladangan in the first round of the SH championship.
National Clubs draw: A big thanks to all our supporters who contributed to the club finances through participating in the G.A.A. National Club Draw. The draw will take place on Friday, 11th March 2016.
Membership: A reminder to everyone and especially all players and mentors that membership for 2016 is now overdue and must be paid to any club officer or online before the end of February. The cost of membership is again very reasonably priced at €25 with a family membership option A priced at €60 and an option B priced at €85.
Volunteer Appeal: With the numbers we currently cater for, there is a huge need and opportunity for more people to become more involved in the day to day running of club affairs. Juvenile club news
Éire Ógres camp: The Éire Ógres themed GAA camp for beginners will continue on Saturday from 10-11am. Many thanks to the kids, their families and coaches for making this such a wonderful month. Please ensure that any child participating but has not yet registered does so immediately to receive their T-Shirt.
Juvenile registration: Registration for all juveniles for 2016 will take place on Friday 19th Feb from 6pm to 7pm and Saturday mornings 20th and 27th from 10am to 11am.
Healthy club initiative: A talk by former Tipperary hurler John Leahy titled ‘Substance Awareness” has been organized for Saturday Feb 20th at 7:30pm in the Complex. While primarily targeted at u14, u16, minors players and their parents from the juvenile and camogie club, all club players and members are invited to attend. Now a qualified addiction counsellor, John works with the HSE and voluntary bodies as a drug education officer in the area of helping people overcome problems with substance abuse.

Intermediate: Our intermediate panel will be resuming training in the very near future and manager Paul Henry will be in contact soon with the details.
Under-16: Our under-16 team resume training for 2016 on Tuesday evening at 7pm.
Tipperary: Best wishes to Alanna Morris and the Tipperary senior team in their match next Sunday in the Ragg. Also good luck to the county minor side who face Kilkenny on Sunday in a Kilkenny venue and especially our players on the panel.
A big welcome and well done to our many new Nenagh Éire Ógres who started their four week camp this morning. There was great fun had and a fantastic atmosphere in the hall…..We can’t wait to have you all back next Saturday.
