Our senior hurlers recorded a fantastic victory over Cashel in the County SHC quarter-final on Sunday. The final score was 3-29 to 0-21, with goals from Sam O’Farrell and Tommy Heffernan. The team now advances to the semi-final where they will face Thurles in Semple Stadium in two weeks’ time.
Junior Football
Best of luck to our junior football team who play Cappawhite in the county junior-A quarter final in Newport on Sunday at 1pm.
Golf Classic
A special thank you to everyone who took part in the Nenagh Éire Óg GAA Golf Classic on Friday last. Alzheimer’s Ireland Memory Walk
The Alzheimer’s Ireland Memory Walk will take place in MacDonagh Park on Sunday, 20 September, from 11am to 1pm.

Éire Ógres Nursery
The hugely attended Éire Ógres Nursery concluded last Saturday morning. It proved to be a wonderful introduction to Gaelic games for young boys and girls, providing a fun, safe and enjoyable environment in which to develop new skills.

Under-8 Boys
The Under-8 boys enjoyed a lively internal blitz last Saturday morning, with great fun and brilliant effort from all involved.

Under-10 Boys
The Under-10 boys continue to train well and will be on the road next weekend for their next blitz.

Under-12 Boys
The Under-12A panel played Kiladangan in Puckaun last week and delivered a strong performance. Both the A and B groups are now preparing for an upcoming tournament hosted by Ballina in the coming weeks.

Under-14 Boys
The knockout rounds of the U14A Championship began last week, with Nenagh drawn to face Roscrea in Toomevara. The boys battled brilliantly and stuck to their task throughout, but two early goals proved decisive in the end.
The team now moves into the Plate competition, and the coaches are hugely proud of the boys’ efforts to date.
The U14C team continue their preparations for their next fixture against Kilruane on 20 September. Best of luck to the boys.
Under-16 Boys
After a short break, the Under-16s regroup this week as preparations begin for the U16 Football Championship. Training resumes Thursday at 7pm.

Huge congratulations to our senior hurlers, who delivered a superb quarter-final win over Cashel in Semple Stadium last Sunday.
Juvenile Club families and friends are already gearing up in sky blue and navy as we look forward to returning to Semple on Saturday week, when Éire Óg take on Sarsfields in the county semi-final.

Camogie News
Under-6
Under-6 camogie finished training for the year last Saturday. We held a very entertaining match between the girls and the adults.
It was a feisty affair, with the girls coming out on top with a fantastic 5-2 victory!
Well done to all the girls on the huge improvement they have made since we started way back in April. It has been brilliant to see their skills, confidence and enjoyment grow throughout the year.
We look forward to seeing you all back next year. A big thank-you also to all the parents and guardians for bringing the girls along every week and for their continued support.
Under-8
The Under-8 girls played Portroe and Burgess in Portroe on Saturday morning, with three great games ensuing. Training continues on Wednesday evenings.
Under-10
Our Under-10 girls enjoyed a great blitz in Ballinderry on Saturday. The girls played against Lorrha, Burgess and the host club Shannon Rovers, with plenty of great camogie, skills and fun throughout the day.
Under-12
The Under-12s welcomed teams from Athenry, Co. Galway, Newtownshandrum, Co. Cork and Monaleen, Co. Limerick to MacDonagh Park on Saturday for a fantastic day of competitive and sporting camogie, including a very exciting Poc Fada competition.
We are very grateful to everyone who contributed to making it such a great day.
A huge thank-you to our Committee and the Under-12 coaching and management team, who put in a tremendous amount of work in the preparation for the day and throughout the event itself.
A very special thank-you goes to our parents and guardians, who provided fabulous food and took on much of the organising, catering, cleaning and everything else that was needed on the day.
Thank you to the GAA club for your support and to those who had the pitches looking immaculate for the day. Thanks also to Enda O’Sullivan for acting as MC, Sean McTiernan for organising the address system, Tom Boland and Barry Grace for their help with the car park and many other jobs throughout the day.

Training continues on Monday from 7-8pm. There will be no training on Wednesday as a number of girls are involved in school activities, Confirmation preparation and other commitments.
Under-13
The Under-13s look forward to welcoming the camogie teams from Oranmore Maree, Mungret St Paul’s and Holycross Ballycahill next Sunday morning for a blitz, with the first game throwing in at 10.30am.
Under-16
The Under-16 girls played Moyle Rovers in the Shield semi-final last Tuesday in Nenagh. The girls put in a great effort and came out on top.
Next up for the girls is the semi-final away to Moyne-Templetuohy on Friday at 6.15pm.

Memory Walk 2026
Nenagh Éire Óg Healthy Club, in association with The Alzheimer Society of Ireland and Specsavers Nenagh, is delighted to host the 2026 Memory Walk at 11am on Sunday, 20 September.
The walk will take place on the Slí Éire Óg Community Walkway, MacDonagh Park, Nenagh (E45 HY06).
Participants can choose from three walk options, ranging from 1.7km to 5km, making this a fun and inclusive event for people of all ages and abilities. Please note that dogs are not permitted, with the exception of guide dogs.
The Memory Walk is a nationwide event that raises vital funds for services provided by The Alzheimer Society of Ireland, including Day Care and Home Support Services, Family Carer Training, Alzheimer Cafés and Social Clubs, and the National Helpline.
With more than 64,000 people currently living with dementia in Ireland, and this number expected to double by 2045, support for these services has never been more important.

Following the Memory Walk, participants are invited back to the Nenagh Éire Óg Complex for refreshments and an opportunity to access information and resources from The Alzheimer Society of Ireland on dementia and brain health. Information on hearing health will also be available from Specsavers Nenagh.
Healthy Club Strength Class for Women Returns This Autumn
The popular Strength Class for Women, hosted by our Camogie Club and led by Éilis, returns to the Nenagh Éire Óg Complex this autumn.
The six-week programme will take place on Tuesday evenings from 7pm to 8pm, with all fitness levels welcome, including beginners.
The classes focus on improving full-body strength and conditioning, supporting heart health, maintaining a healthy weight and enhancing overall wellbeing. The programme is suitable for women of all ages.

Dates: 22 September to 27 October inclusive
Pay-as-you-go: €12 per class

Nenagh Run Club continues training every Wednesday evening at 7pm and Sunday morning at 10am in MacDonagh Park. This is an ideal running group for those interested in taking up jogging or for those looking to improve their running in a fun and social setting.

Bibs Bring the Thunder in Astro Hurling Thriller
Under the floodlights, with the Astro transformed into a cauldron of camán-fuelled chaos, the latest instalment of Social ‘Ground’ Hurling produced 40 minutes of pulsating, breathless, goal-hungry drama as the Bibs of Martin Gleeson, Ger Ryan and Conor O’Donovan went toe-to-toe with the Non-Bibs of John Phelan, Eamon Moylan and Jamie Kennedy.
When the final whistle blew, it was the Bibs who stood triumphant, emerging from the wreckage with an impressive 11-6 victory.
But this was no stroll in the Astro park.
The opening ten minutes exploded into life like a box of fireworks. The Non-Bibs struck first, with John Phelan twice finding the net to give his side a 2-0 advantage. Conor O’Donovan responded with a crucial green flag for the Bibs, leaving the Non-Bibs sitting pretty with a 2-1 lead at the first-quarter water break.
Then came the second-quarter blitz.
The Bibs returned from the interval like men possessed, with Ger Ryan turning goal poacher supreme, rattling the net three times in a devastating spell. Conor added two more, and suddenly the tide had turned with astonishing ferocity.
The Non-Bibs refused to wave the white flag, however, with John and Jamie Kennedy both raising green flags of their own. But the damage had been done. At half-time, the Bibs had wrestled control from their opponents and led 6-4.
If the first half was a rollercoaster, the third quarter was a runaway train.
Martin Gleeson finally joined the goal party with two thunderous strikes, while Ger and Conor added one apiece as the Bibs tore into the Non-Bibs defence. John and Jamie once again showed their appetite for destruction by replying with goals of their own, but the Bibs continued to pile on the pressure.
After 30 minutes, the scoreboard read 10-6 and the Bibs had stretched their advantage to four goals.
The final ten minutes were somewhat less frantic in front of goal, but there was still time for one final twist. Conor O’Donovan stepped forward to dispatch a penalty ‘65 with ice running through his veins, sealing the Bibs’ emphatic 11-6 triumph.
And what a night it was for Conor. The Bibs’ chief marksman finished with a magnificent five goals, while Ger Ryan helped himself to four and Martin Gleeson added two.
For the Non-Bibs, John Phelan led the charge with four goals, while Jamie Kennedy produced a fine brace.
But every great contest needs its moments of individual brilliance.
Save of the night? Absolutely no debate.
That honour belongs to Eamon Moylan, who produced a stunning piece of goalkeeping acrobatics when he somehow managed to get his hurley down low to his right to repel a vicious penalty ‘65 from Ger Ryan. The ball looked destined for the back of the net, but Eamon had other ideas, producing a save that belonged in the sporting theatre.
And then came the Hook Tackle of the Night.
John Phelan, charging back towards his own goal with the desperation of a man defending the gates of Troy, somehow denied Conor O’Donovan what appeared to be the simplest of tap-ins into an empty net. A magnificent last-gasp intervention.
Forty minutes. Seventeen goals. Heroic saves. Last-ditch defending. Momentum swings. And enough drama to fill a sports page for a week.
The Social Ground Hurling juggernaut rolls on.
Next Wednesday. 8.15pm. The Astro.
Be there. The camáns are waiting.
