The Éire Óg under-12s graced the hallowed ground of Croke Park this week while the under-14s, under-16s and junior A hurling teams registered fine wins – another highlight of the week was the under-16 Camogie team who overcame significant odds to qualify for the county final.
SENIOR
Senior: The fixture details for the up-coming Dr Fogarty Cup final between Nenagh Éire Óg and Mullinahone are yet to be finalised. Éire Óg last appeared in the Dr Fogarty Cup final in 2013 when the Blues lost after a replay to Burgess. The Blues will not return to championship action until the respective divisional championships reach a conclusion – Éire Óg have already qualified for the last sixteen of the Clean Ireland Recycling County Senior Hurling Championship.
Junior A: On Sunday evening in Puckane Éire Óg made it two wins from two in the Watch Centre North Tipperary Junior A Hurling Championship when the Blues enjoyed a 1-19 to 0-13 win over Silvermines. The Watch Centre North Tipperary Junior A Hurling Championship is being run on a two-group system with the top team in each group progressing to the semi-finals and the second and third teams qualifying for the quarter-finals. Nenagh Éire Óg, the defending champions, are in group one alongside Kildangan, Kilruane MacDonagh’s, Silvermines and Burgess. In the group phase Éire Óg still have to play Kilruane and Burgess following wins registered against Kildangan and the ‘Mines. Meanwhile group two features Toomevara, Borris-Ileigh, Roscrea, Knockshegowna and Templederry. This year the junior A team is managed by Greg Browne (manager), Con Morris, Michael Ryan and Conor Ryan. Junior B: Following the withdrawal of three teams from the competition the North Board were forced to re-draw the groups for the Watch Centre North Tipperary Junior B Hurling Championship last week. Nenagh Éire Óg have been drawn in group one alongside Lorrha, Toomevara, Shannon Rovers and Ballina. Moneygall, Portroe, Newport and Borrisokane make up group two. This year the Éire Óg team is managed by Cian Tucker (manager), Mark Long, John Paul King and Paddy Flynn.
Minor A: On Thursday, July 2nd Éire Óg will launch their Ger Gavin Minor A Hurling Championship campaign when the Blues will face Borris-Ileigh in Templederry at 7.30pm. John Manley’s Nenagh Éire Óg team have been drawn in group one alongside Roscrea, Newport Gaels, Borris-Ileigh and Portroe. John Manley is joined on the management team by selectors Derek Lillis, Christy McLoughlin and Paudie Gleeson. The lads would appreciate your support on Thursday evening in Templederry.

Dermot Earley Initiative: During the October mid-term break Éire Óg will be running a Dermot Earley Youth Leadership Initiative for members of the club between the ages of fifteen and eighteen. This unique programme aims to foster a new generation of young Irish leaders. All participants who complete the course will be awarded a certificate in Youth Leadership and Community Action from the National University of Ireland, Galway. Fleadh Cheoil: Organisers of Fleadh Cheoil na Mumhan 2015, which will be held in Nenagh on July 12th-19th, are appealing for volunteers – if interested please see munsterfleadh.ie.

JUVENILE
Under-6 and under-8 training continues at the same time. Our under-8 hurlers will host Ballina on Saturday morning – more information from your mentors during the week.
Our under-10 hurlers are having some summer of hurling. Last week the boys took on Na Piarsiagh and Toomevara and won both games well. This Saturday they face Moycarkey. Keep up the great work boys!
The under-12 boys enjoyed a great day out in Croke Park on Monday playing matches and getting the stadium tour. Thanks to all of the mentors for making this possible for the lads.
The under-14 hurlers defeated Kilruane in their fourth round match in Nenagh on Monday last on a scoreline of 1-12 to 1-5. The lads travel to Ballina for round five on Wednesday, July 1st (7.30pm). The U14 development team had a very even workout with Kilruane in Cloughjordan recently. More to come for this team soon!
Under-16: The under-16 hurlers face Moneygall at home at 7pm on Monday, July 6th. On Monday, June 29th the under-16 hurlers got their campaign off to an encouraging start when beating Kilruane MacDonagh’s in Cloughjordan on a 4-8 to 2-12 scoreline.
Nenagh Éire Óg’s annual summer camp will be held from Monday, July 20th to Friday, July 24th (2pm to 5pm). It is open to boys and girls from five to thirteen years of age. Cost is €45 per child with a maximum charge of €70 per family. Contact Catherine on 086 085 5165 for more information!
CAMOGIE
Under-12: Best wishes to our under-12 team who face Kilruane MacDonagh’s this Tuesday in the county shield final in The Ragg. They had a great win over Clonoulty-Rossmore last week in the semi-final and hopefully will carry that form into the final. The girls are also off to Croke Park on Tuesday week and we hope they have a fabulous day out.
Under-16: Our under-16 team had a great win over Silvermines in the county semi-final on Saturday last winning 3-8 to 1-8. Dermot Earley Youth Initiative: The club are hosting this exciting course during the October mid-term break in the clubhouse. Inspired by the great Dermot Earley it aims to inspire the next generation of young people to become outstanding leaders in their social and professional lives. It will be facilitated by Louise Hickey and Enda O’Sullivan and participants will be awarded a certificate by the National University of Ireland, Galway and will be brought to Croke Park this autumn for a special day out. This course promises to be both great fun and inspiring for those who take part. Please see the club’s Facebook page for further details on how to apply.
