CAMOGIE
Cumann na mBunscol: Congratulations to the St Mary’s Primary School under-11 team which captured the Cumann na mBunscol title last week in Semple Stadium, Thurles when defeating Boherlahan 6-2 to 3-1. The under-13 side, the following day, also played Boherlahan in their final however things did not go our way and we met a much stronger side eventually losing 4-6 to 1-1. We also want to congratulate Ardcroney National School on their great win in the under-13 decider when they beat Ballylooby 8-3 to 3-0. Éire Óg’s Meaghan Morris scored 3-1 of her school’s total while Breda Conroy was also a selector on the team. A special thank you goes to the teachers, principals and coaches of these teams for so generously volunteering their time to prepare and coach these players.
Under-10: It has been a very busy few days for the under-10 team. They travelled to Toomevara for a challenge on Wednesday last and played out a highly-entertaining draw. Thanks to Toomevara for the game. On Saturday Kildangan hosted us in a blitz where we played three games against Roscrea, Toomevara and Kildangan. Thanks to Kildangan for organising the event and for their wonderful hospitality. We will play Kilruane MacDonagh’s on Wednesday in a challenge game at Cloughjordan.
Féile na nGael: On Saturday our under-14 team travelled to Clara in Kilkenny to take part in the Féile na nGael. Before we headed off the club kindly presented all the players with a lovely Éire Óg top. We played three games and beat Glenmore of Kilkenny in our opening encounter. Unfortunately we were beaten in our next two matches by Good Council of Dublin and Charleville of Cork. We were treated extremely well by our hosts in Clara who put on a delicious spread for all the teams. When we returned to Nenagh the club also fed the players in the Hibernian Inn. We want to thank all the parents and supporters who travelled to support the girls, the management of Pat, Caitriona, Mairéad, Philip and Greg for all their hard work and the players themselves who’s brilliant behaviour and good humour throughout the day painted a very positive image of our club and town.
Under-15: The under-15 team travel to Éire Óg Annacarty for the opening match of the league this Wednesday at 7.30pm.
Minor: The minor team played a blitz in Carrig-Riverstown on Saturday last, playing four games. Thanks to Carrig-Riverstown for organising the event.
Bag Packing: We will be bag packing in Dunnes Stores on Friday, July 18th – this is a vital fundraiser for the club and if you are available for an hour please contact Denise Morris.
Summer Camp: The Nenagh Éire Óg annual summer camp will take place from Monday, July 21st to Friday, July 25th for boys and girls aged between six and fourteen. Non-members are welcome. Please check our website for further details.
HANDBALL
Best of luck to Eoin Meagher who faces Liam Bradshaw of Newport in the minor county semi-final at Lahorna – the winner goes on to play the county final in Thurles on Wednesday night.
JUVENILE
Under-6 & Under-8: Keep training lads. Plenty of matches and blitzes planned for the summer and don’t forget the summer camp on July 21st!
Under-10: The under-10 hurlers had a busy weekend playing a blitz in Moneygall on Saturday and taking on Shamrocks GAA club of Tullamore on Sunday as part of their annual fun day. Thanks to both host clubs for their hospitality.
Under-12: Both teams are in action this weekend in Nenagh in the final round of group matches. Group A take on Ballina while group D face the Silvermines. Best of luck boys! See www.nenagheireog.com for fixture details.
Under-14: Our under-14 hurlers travelled to Mallow on Saturday last to participate in the Munster Féile blitz. We played group games against Cobh, Knockavilla Kickhams and Bride Rovers recording a win, a draw and a loss to the eventual winners Bride Rovers. Many thanks to the parents who travelled down in support of the team. With some uncertainty surrounding the championship groupings it now appears that our first game will not take place until July 2nd away to Roscrea.
Under-16: Preparation for our championship is in full swing with a number of challenges and coaching trips planned for the next two weeks. Full attendance required at training which continues on Wednesday and Friday evenings from 6.15pm.
Primary Game: Well done to Seán Phelan who played in midfield on the Tipperary Primary Football team against Cork in Páirc Uí Chaoimh on Saturday evening last. Seán represented the CBS Primary School.
Cumann na mBunscol: Well done also to our juvenile hurlers Cian O’Farrell, Cameron Spillane, Ben West, Josh Keller and Filip McIntyre who won county medals with Carrig National School during the week.
Date for the diary: Nenagh Éire Óg’s annual summer camp will take place from Monday, July 21st to Friday, July 25th (2-5pm) for boys and girls aged between five and 14 years of age. Non-members welcome.

CLUB HISTORY
As most of you are aware the club, under the expert guidance of PJ Maxwell, Nancy Murphy and Donal A Murphy, are putting the finishing touches to our club history book. This promises to be a comprehensive collection of the history of Gaelic games in our parish.
While the club have made every effort to collect photographs of teams from the present to the distant past and other pictures which would be of interest we appeal to people to get in touch if you have a photograph of interest in your possession.
Please do not assume that we already possess your photograph or that it is of no interest.
Every Éire Óg photo, whether it is of a team, presentation or action shot is of massive importance to us and we would be delighted to have it. We are also anxious to get photos of school teams from any of the schools in the community.
If you have a photograph please get in touch with us at eireognenagh@gmail.com
We promise to return the photo as soon as we have it scanned.
