CAMOGIE CLUB
Congratulations: Congratulations to Ciara McGrath who was a member of the UL team which won the All-Ireland Freshers Camogie title with a comprehensive victory over WIT. Ciara scored an amazing personal tally of 7-5 in the final. Well done also to Alanna Morris and Aileen Duggan who were members of the Tipperary under-18 panel which defeated Derry at the weekend. They play Dublin this weekend in a Dublin venue and must win in order to progress to the next round. Good luck girls.
Junior B: Our junior B’s defeated Portroe 3-9 to 2-3 in the league on Sunday last. It was a great all-round performance and special mention must go to Alice Darcy who, without the hurley, flicked the ball around the goalkeeper, Lionel Messi-style, before kicking it into the back of the net. Well done Alice.
Under-16: Our under-16s are in action this Thursday night in Nenagh at 6.45pm when neighbours Burgess-Duharra provide the opposition in the opening round of the championship. The under-16s play Kilruane the following Thursday in Cloughjordan at 7pm. Best of luck girls.
Under-14: Our under-14s defeated Drom & Inch on Tuesday in round one of the championship. We played with a strong wind in the first half and led at half-time 1-5 to 0-3. We defended bravely in the second half and held out to win by the narrowest of margins (1-5 to 1-4). We are due to play Silvermines on Tuesday, April 9th in Nenagh at 6.45pm, then Toomevara on April 16th in Toomevara at 7pm and Newport in Nenagh at 7pm on April 23rd. The under-14s are also due to play the Féile final on Saturday, April 13th.
Under-12: Our under-12 enjoyed a great blitz last weekend where we played Toomevara, Drom & Inch and Borris-Ileigh in The Ragg. Thanks to all who organised a most enjoyable day out. We are due to play another blitz this weekend and mentors will be in touch with the details.
Easter Walk: Our Easter Walk is this Sunday at 12 noon from the complex.
Membership: Our younger players have been excellent with paying their registration and we thank them for that. There are a number of under-16s and juniors however who have yet to pay and we encourage them to do so ASAP. Players will not be allowed to play unless this membership fee has been paid.
