Juvenile Club Notes
Under 12: Both U12s had good games V Newport on Friday & both had good wins. Well done to all. Training as usual this week.
Under 14: Our U14 footballers lost out to an impressive Ballina side in round 3 of the football championship. Our next football championship game is away to Inane Rovers at 6.30pm on Wednesday, April 12th.
Camogie Club Notes
U8: Training is on Thursdays 5.30 to 6.30 with Ciarán Morris. We would like to thank the senior players for helping out over the last few weeks but as it is such a large group of players we need more help if they are to get the most out of their time in the field. We would encourage the parents to set up a rota to help out. Contact chairperson Caitriona Morris 087-7776135.
U10’s and U12’s training on Thursdays 5.30 to 6.30 . Well done to the u12s who played outstandingly well in the Camán to Munster blitz in Mallow last Saturday just missing out in the ultimate prize of playing in Croke Park.
U14: Training on Tuesdays 5.30 to 6.30. They are due to play against Cashel this week. You will be notified by WhatsApp message. Best of luck to Meaghan Morris, Hazel Cawley and Michelle Barry and their Tipperary u 14 colleagues in the Limerick blitz this weekend.
U16: The Nenagh/ Kildangan team played Ballina in what can only be described as an outstandingly skilful game of Camogie in MacDonagh park on Monday night in horrific conditions. It didn’t deter either team as they went at each other hammer and tongs. The newly amalgamated team are gelling well together but it was Ballina who raced into a 2.2 to 3 point lead at half time. Nenagh/Kildangan came out a different team in the second half after a robust half time team talk by Manager Martin Morris and also the introduction of Meaghan Morris and Hazel Cawley into the Nenagh/ Kildangan forward line was beginning to unsettle the Ballina backs. This was to be a ding dong game full of skill and determination as the lead changed hands a few times in the second half with Sarah Hallinan scoring 2 goals for Nenagh . Ballina looked to have clinched the game but an injury time goal from Meaghan Grace who was set up by Meaghan Morris ensured that the game ended a draw 3.4 apiece. They now play Newport away on Monday night and a win is a must for this team.

The draw for the 2017 Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship takes place on Monday next, January 23rd between 7:00 and 8:00 p.m, and will be broadcast live on Tipp FM’s Extra Time show with Ronan Quirke. The Senior Championship, as in previous years, is divided in to Roinn I and Roinn II. Nenagh Éire Óg will this year be entered in to the Roinn I section of the draw, as a third seed.
In Roinn I the 16 participating teams are divided into four seeded groups with each club playing all other group members. Following three rounds of games, each group winner qualifies for the county quarter-finals while each group runner-up battles it out with the divisional champions (if not already qualified) in the preliminary quarter-finals. The last placed teams in each group play-off in two games with the individual game losers demoted to Roinn II for 2018.
Thirteen teams in all will compete in Roinn II in 2017. There is, however, a significant change to the format of Roinn II for the coming season. The teams, similarly to Roinn I, will be divided into four groups with the group winners and runners-up progressing to the quarter-finals of the Ó Riain Cup. The winner of that round of games qualifies for the semi-finals of the Ó Riain Cup, while both finalists are promoted to Roinn I for 2018.
The only way for Roinn II teams to compete for the Dan Breen Cup in 2017 is by winning their respective Divisional Championship, thereby qualifying for a preliminary quarter-final against a second-placed team from a Roinn I group.
Each club in Roinn I has been seeded based on their performances in the County Championship last year, the full seedings are as follows.

The draw for the North Championship will take place at a later date, usually in the Hibernian Inn, Nenagh.

Camogie Club Notes
The A G M of the club recently took place at the Nenagh Éire Óg Complex . The club had a very successful ending to the year with the Intermediate team winning the County final and therefore bringing the club into the Senior grade for the first time in the clubs short history of competing in adult Camogie, having only won the Junior B title in 2013. This came about through the hard work , dedication and vision of past and present committees and players, and the club are deeply grateful for their work and vision from the day the club was first formed . It wasn’t easy along the way and players who were less successful were very much part of the foundation stones of the Intermediate success late last year
The committee thanked all the coaches in the club who have given their time freely during the year . The new committee was formed with Catriona Morris as Chairperson , Marie Sheedy Vice Chairperson , Liam McGrath PRO , Liz Duggan Secretary , Séamie Morris PRO , Mark Hassett Child Welfare officer. The committee members are Kieran O Brien , Pat Sheridan, Denise Morris , Tom MacAuliffe , Louise Hickey and Catherine Kennedy . The club thanked two extraordinary committee members who were stepping away , Marie O’Brien who was given a presentation by the club for her incredible work as Treasurer and Enda O Sullivan was wished well in his new Role as PRO for Tipperary football . Both will be missed.
Registration Night . The registration night will be February 03 at MacDonagh Park . The senior camogie team will get together within the next fortnight. It is the clubs intention to have two adult teams this year so the club are looking for New Players and Management for all teams from U8 upwards please contact the Chairperson Catriona Morris at 087-7776135 if interested . The club will be setting up a Training fund for the Senior team so that there will be no stone left unturned as they prepare for the upcoming Senior league and championship . If you wish to contribute please contact Séamie Morris at 087-2859125 or any committee member . There will be further announcements regarding funding and sponsorship in the coming weeks. As a professionally trained addiction counsellor, there’s no day Justin’s not meeting people in need of help. He combines his working life and coaching hurling teams with very active membership of the GAA’s National Health and Wellbeing Committee.

“By the age of 14, I had the misfortune to lose both of my parents to cancer. This was a very difficult time for me as a teenager as I hadn’t the tools to deal with the harsh realities of life…
Alcohol made me feel normal… I eventually put my hand up and asked for help.
I found it very difficult to admit there was something wrong. Little did I know that that is where you become really powerful? It was the best decision of my life.
I changed direction in my life and after a few years I qualified from Trinity College as an Addiction Counsellor.” – Justin Campbell
Niall McNamee
(Offaly Footballer)
Niall McNamee has played 14 years inter-county football for Offaly, and has been one of the top forwards in the country from the mid-2000s. He has also enjoyed great success with his local club Rhode over the years. He is a player engagement officer for the Gaelic Players Association and also one of their mental health ambassador’s specialising in addiction recovery, specifically gambling.
“I had done a lot of things I wasn’t proud of and this was eroding away my soul and my spirit. I knew I was a good person but somewhere along the way I lost sight of the important things in life like my family and friend… When I eventually told my father what was going on and explained the trouble I was in, it was like the biggest weight imaginable was lifted off me.” – Niall McNamee
On Saturday, our Intermediate team are bidding to make history as we face Drom & Inch in the county Intermediate Final. It is a remarkable achievement to get this far in our first year competing at this grade. We have been playing adult camogie since 2009 when we first entered the Junior B championship, and we have made steady progress up the ranks since then.
The game takes place at 12pm in The Camogie Grounds, The Ragg and we hope the girls get the deserved support from all in the club. Best of luck ladies.
