The seniors get their 2020 campaign off to a winning start, a Bloody Sunday lecture to look forward to and the \u00c9ire \u00d3gres continue their great work. All this and more in this week’s news on the Blues<\/h2>\n

Senior Hurling<\/h2>\n
<\/div>\n

Nenagh \u00c9ire \u00d3g 1-14 Kilruane MacDonaghs 1-13<\/h3>\n
<\/div>\n

Nenagh overcame Kilruane by the narrowest of margins on Sunday morning in the county league in wet and blustery conditions by the narrowest of margins and they had to do so after losing D\u00e1ire Quinn early on through injury after James Cleary and Kieran Cahill had given MacDonaghs a two-point advantage. Indeed Cahill had a fine afternoon for Kilruane, finishing with a personal tally of 0-6.<\/p>\n

At half-time Kilruane led 0-9 to 0-6 but the home side were quick off the mark scoring 1-2 inside the opening four minutes of the second period. The goal was scored by Adam Healy after good work from Killian Gleeson. Nenagh controlled the second half but had a nervy finish as James Cleary scored a late goal to level the sides but Killian Gleeson quickly restored Nenagh\u2019s lead with what proved to be the match winning point.<\/p>\n

The lads now play Portroe on Sunday in Portroe at 11:30am.<\/p>\n

Our minor footballers were due to play Borrisokane in the second round of the North championship this weekend but unfortunately this game was postponed. At the time of going to press, we have no details of a refixture.<\/p>\n

Training for junior football continues this Saturday in Nenagh College at 5pm on the astro turf. New players are always more than welcome.<\/p>\n

Bloody Sunday Lecture<\/h2>\n

Nenagh man John Flannery will deliver a lecture entitled Bloody Sunday, A Bitter Legacy or A Legacy of Bitterness<\/em> in the Abbey Court Hotel tomorrow, Monday, at 8pm. This promises to be a fascinating insight into the events surrounding that awful day and its legacy. All are welcome.<\/p>\n

Barry in action against Galway<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/div>\n

Well done to Grace O\u2019Brien and her Tipperary senior team who are through to the National League Final after beating Galway at the weekend. Full time score Tipperary 1-8 Galway 0-10.
\nHard luck to Hazel McAuliffe and her Tipperary intermediate team mates who lost out to Antrim at the weekend in division two of the league, Antrim 5-13 Tipperary 1-06.
\nAlso well done to Michelle Barry and her Tipperary minor team mates on their win against Wexford at the weekend.<\/p>\n

Hard luck to Barry Heffernan, Jake Morris and the Tipperary seniors who were beaten by Galway in the final round of the Allianz league. This result ends Tipperary’s interest in the league and the lads will now begin to focus on the championship.<\/p>\n

\nA superb effort from all the girls for the second morning of Camogie \u00c9ire \u00d3gres! The girls showed great enthusiasm as they made their way around the hall, through each of the activities. Special thanks to all who helped this week. It makes such a difference for the girls when there is so much support and encouragement. With the 2020 push for girls in sport it has never being more important for the girls to get involved. They have a 70% better chance of playing sport into adulthood if there is parental support and involvement in their activities. No coaching experience needed, just time and patience is all that’s required. Thanks to our hardworking committee that supplied lots of refreshments and food for everyone.

It’s that time of the year again. The envy of the civilised world as we know it. It’s the Nenagh \u00c9ire \u00d3g Juvenile Club table quiz. Mark it in your diary, Dapp Inn Friday 13th March 9pm. So come along or get a team together for the perfect evening out to start off the extra long Patricks weekend…with a bit of brainteasing thrown in too. All welcome especially to those parents whose youngsters may be new to the club. A perfect opportunity to meet your fellow members in a social environment. \u20ac20 for a table of four.<\/p>\n

\u00c9ire \u00d3gres<\/h2>\n
<\/div>\n

The \u00c9ire \u00d3gres were back again this Saturday with almost 40 boys coming to MacDonagh Park. The focus was on hand-eye coordination, fundamental movement and agility while the boys thought they’re only having fun. Continues next Saturday from 10am and new boys are always welcome. No hurleys or helmets required, the focus will be on hand-eye coordination, fundamental movement and agility while the boys think they’re only having fun! Free tea\/coffee\/scones for parents and siblings so don’t rush the breakfast. Cost is \u20ac10 for the month and all will be awarded with a training T-shirt on the final morning. Training continued on Saturday morning at Nenagh College with a big effort again from the boys. Please encourage the boys to keep practicing at home. Training continues next Saturday morning at 11am and new players are always welcome.<\/p>\n

Training continues every Saturday morning at 10am in Nenagh College. Great to see the improvements each week in the boys due to all the practise at home and in school. Great to see some of the boys out playing challenge matches already with their school. Any new players that would like to join are welcome. There are lots of coaches to help get players started.<\/p>\n

Hurling training Monday 6pm-7pm and Friday 7pm-8pm. Football training Wednesday 6pm-7pm. All in Nenagh College.<\/p>\n

The under-14s were unlucky to lose out to a good home side in Ballina after extra time in F\u00e9ile Peil quarter final on Saturday. Football training Monday 7pm to 8pm in Nenagh College and hurling Wednesday 7pm to 8pm in the hurling alley.<\/p>\n
