Our minor-B footballers opened their championship campaign with a 3-8 to 0-5 win over Templederry\/Ballinahinch in Templederry on Sunday morning last. The game was supposed to take place in MacDonagh Park but due to the weather it was switched to Templederry.<\/p>\n

A relaxed Jake Morris arrives at Semple Stadium prior to the Allianz National Hurling League encounter with Westmeath<\/p><\/div>\n

The Tipperary Westmeath game at the weekend was unfortunately moved from MacDonagh Park to Semple Stadium in Thurles due to the recent rains but that didn’t dampen the spirits of both Jake Morris and Barry Heffernan who gave commanding displays against Westmeath with Jake bagging a personal tally of 1-3. Well done to all involved.<\/p>\n

The ever-popular \u00c9ire \u00d3gres GAA camp for beginners returns for four Saturdays beginning next Saturday, February 29th. Open to boys born 2014\/2015, it is the perfect way to introduce your child to sport in a happy, safe environment. No hurleys or helmets required, the focus will be on hand-eye coordination, fundamental movement and agility while the boys think they’re only having fun! Free tea\/coffee\/scones for parents and siblings so don’t rush the breakfast. Cost is \u20ac10 for the month and all will be awarded with a training T-shirt on the final morning. The Tipperary GAA Bloody Sunday Commemoration Committee<\/p><\/div>\n

The Tipperary GAA Bloody Sunday Commemoration Committee have announced an exciting lecture which takes place on March 9th, at 8pm in the Abbey Court Hotel in Nenagh as historian John Flannery will host a talk entitled \u201cBloody Sunday, A Bitter Legacy or a Legacy of Bitterness?\u201d This event, in conjunction with the Ormond Historical Society and Nenagh 800, promises to be an entertaining, educational and insightful talk which will discuss the events surrounding that awful day and the long-lasting effects which can be felt to the present day.<\/p>\n

\nThe first round of the Senior League takes place next Sunday 1st march at 11am versus Annacarty in Nenagh. All support greatly appreciated as it\u2019s is the only home game of the league for the team. Best of luck to the team.<\/p>\n

\nCongratulations<\/span> to Nenagh \u00c9ire \u00d3g’s Hazel McAuliffe playing for the Tipperary Intermediate team who beat Laois in Golden on a scoreline of 1.06 to 0.05 on Sunday.<\/p>\n

2020 Challenge Week 6<\/h2>\n

\nWell done to all of those who have remained committed the Get Fit for 2020 challenge as we enter week 6. Any member is still welcome to come and join us for the circuits on Tuesdays and running on Thursdays. If the pitch is too wet we will go around the town. Please wear a high-vis jacket.<\/p>\n

\nWatch out as the \u00c9ire Ogres are back in town at the end of the month and they plan to take over the \u00c9ire \u00d3g complex. Sign up your boys and girls and introduce them to our great club. An hour of activities, skills, fitness and fun from 9.45 for the boys (born in 2014 & 2015) and 10.45 for the girls (aged 5,6 & 7) every Saturday for four weeks starting on the 29th of February.  No helmet or hurley required. Parents can come along for a cuppa and meet other parents while your children have a great morning.  \u20ac10 in total for the four weeks and a free t-shirt for all the little participants on the final day. 1997 Opening of the New Stand<\/h2>\n

The sun sets over MacDonagh Park on Winter Solstice, 2019<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/div>\n

In 1997 the club celebrated the opening of our new stand in MacDonagh Park by hosting the Church & General Assurance National Hurling League encounter between Tipperary and Offaly. President elect at the time, Joe McDonagh, performed the official opening while the stand was blessed by Fr. Brendan Kyne. Offaly prevailed on the day winning 2-14 to 1-15 while Nenagh’s only representative on the Tipperary team was Michael Cleary who was forced off during the first half after sustaining a serious injury. <\/p>\n
