Alec Reid tournament held at Davitts GAA Club on the Falls Road, Belfast to celebrate the opening of their fantastic new pitch. The Davitts club was founded in 1912 but never had their own playing field until this impressive new facility was built. Fr. Alec played hurling and Gaelic football with Nenagh and won an All-Ireland hurling minor title in 1949 with Tipperary before joining the Redemptorist order. Fr. Alec was an instrumental in bringing about peace to Northern Ireland.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"clear\" style=\"margin-bottom:25px;\"><\/div>\n<p>The referee, Colum Canning, symbolically throw in the Nenagh \u00c9ire \u00d3g sliothar before giving it to the Davitts club who will now put it on permanent display in their clubhouse.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"clear\" style=\"margin-bottom:25px;\"><\/div>\n<h2>National Club Draw<\/h2>\n<div class=\"clear\" style=\"margin-bottom:25px;\"><\/div>\n<div>Last chance to buy National Club Draw tickets this week. \u20ac10 with major prizes to be won. Week four of ten continues with circuits on Tuesdays from 6pm-7pm with Shane Connolly overseeing the workout and running on the pitch on Thursdays from 6.30pm-7.30pm to get us on our way to a 5km run in March. The challenge is still open to anyone from Nenagh \u00c9ire \u00d3g to join up, parents, players (under-12s upwards) mentors and newcomers will be most welcome.<\/p>\n<h2><div class=\"clear\" style=\"margin-bottom:25px;\"><\/div><br \/>\nUnder-12<\/h2>\n<div class=\"clear\" style=\"margin-bottom:25px;\"><\/div><br \/>\nOur training times are Tuesday 6pm-7pm at Nenagh College and Thursday 6.30pm-7.30pm at \u00c9ire \u00d3g pitch. It will take place for four Saturdays from the 29th at the club and will cost \u20ac10 per child with a free t-shirt for participants on the final Saturday morning. Open to boys born 2014\/2015, it is the perfect way to introduce your child to sport in a happy, safe environment. No hurleys or helmets required, the focus will be on hand-eye coordination, fundamental movement and agility while the boys think they&#8217;re only having fun! Free tea\/coffee\/scones for parents and siblings so don&#8217;t rush the breakfast. Cost is \u20ac10 for the month and all will be awarded with a training T-shirt on the final morning.
