We extend our best wishes to Rory O\u2019 Donovan, Cian O\u2019 Farrell, Se\u00e1n Phelan and the Tipperary minor hurling team in the All-Ireland semi-final next Sunday (1:30pm) where they will face Kilkenny who overcame Limerick this weekend. This game takes place prior to the senior semi-final between Cork and Limerick in Croke Park. Our strength and conditioning coach Darragh Droog was a member of the Limerick backroom team and we extend our commiserations to him.<\/p>\n

Grace O’ Brien<\/p><\/div>\n

The Tipperary senior camogie team qualified for the quarter-final of the Liberty Insurance All-Ireland championship, finishing second in the group and will now play Waterford, following a 0-13 apiece draw with Dublin in Parnell Park helped in no small way by a first-half Grace O’ Brien point. Sarah Quigley was also part of the panel and we wish them the very best in the next stage of the competition. <\/p>\n

Caroline Browne<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/div>\n

Caroline Browne scored a vital goal on her Tipperary intermediate championship debut against Kilkenny as the Premier secured a three-point win, 2-13 to 2-10 in Callan. Sarah Quigley played in goals while Hazel McAuliffe also played in defence. Ruth Hassett is also part of this squad but is unfortunately injured.<\/p>\n

Well done to Maeve Hassett, Lucy Spain and Megan Grace who played for the Tipperary under-17s in Mallow over the weekend. They defeated Galway (1-11 to 2-5) but were unfortunately beaten by Cork (1-14 to 2-8) in their second game. Keep up the great work ladies. <\/p>\n

Tipperary Hurling Club, New York<\/p><\/div>\n

The Tipperary Hurling Club in New York are currently being managed by Mark Langton. Mark is a former player, coach and PRO in \u00c9ire \u00d3g and has been doing fantastic work in The Big Apple with the small ball. Here is pictured with the team which features a number of North Tipperary men including Patrick ‘Bonner’ Maher, Ronan Maher, Mikey Sheedy, Tommy Kavanagh, Paudie Gill, Cian Williams, Dylan Grace, Toby Kavanagh and Joe Grace.<\/p>\n

We send our congratulations down under to Willie Bolger who was part of the Sarsfields side who defeated Western Swans in the Australian hurling final last weekend, 2-22 to 0-11. Willie played corner forward and rattled home two goals. This completes three titles this year as they won the seven-a-side, league and now championship for the third year in a row. Willie has been travelling the globe in recent years picking up championship medals in a number of different countries in an attempt to win as many titles as his hero, idol and inspiration Christy McLoughlin. <\/p>\n

Another former player who picked up a championship medal over the weekend is Caitriona O’ Connor who was part of the Liverpool Wolf Tones team which captured the British junior camogie title after they defeated Brother Pearse, 3-8 to 3-7. <\/p>\n

Our senior hurlers play Kiladangan on Friday evening next in Templederry in the Hibernian Inn sponsored North Tipperary semi-final. These two teams have clashed on numerous occasions in recent years and produced some classics and this game promises to be the same. Throw in is at 19:15 with extra-time if required. The other semi-final sees Toomevara face Kilruane MacDonaghs and this game is on at the same time in Dolla. <\/p>\n

Our county league final match against Borris-Ileigh was postponed and is now expected to take place on Tuesday 31st July.<\/p>\n

Our junior-A hurlers played Burgess in Borrisokane on Friday evening and recorded a 1-14 to 0-19 win. We are due to play Knockshegowna on Saturday evening next at 7pm in Borrisokane. The lads will have to win this match to secure their path to the knock-out stages of the championship. <\/p>\n

Our junior-B hurlers finished their campaign with a heavy loss to Newport in Newport on Friday evening. Despite the results this year the panel deserve huge praise as they are the only third team of any club in North Tipperary and faced teams who had a lot of players who hurled senior in recent years. In every match the lads battled gamely to the final whistle and chased every ball. <\/p>\n

Peter Egan delivers the ball into the full-forward line<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/div>\n

On Friday we were short a number of players for various different reasons and had to encourage a few lads out of retirement including Robbie Ryan who informed everyone in the dressing room before the match, much to their amusement, that the last game he played was “before helmets became compulsory”. Despite that Robbie had a fine game between the posts, making a number of saves and picked out his team mates with pin-point accuracy from his puck outs. The full-forward line of Enda O’ Sullivan, Martin Donnellan and Stephen Ryan had a combined age of 120 years while young Lenny Ryan, Peter Egan and Niall Cahill rolled back the years with sterling performances.<\/p>\n

The panel would particularly like to thank Noreen Ryan for providing the team with first aid in all their games and she cemented her legendary status amongst the players when she arrived with ice-pops for everyone after training one night. Special mention must go to corner back Jack Sheedy who finished as \u00c9ire \u00d3g’s top scorer on the night. <\/p>\n

We had three teams taking part and thanks to everyone for the lovely food provided afterwards. There will be no midweek training this week due to the club Summer Camp taking place.<\/div>\n

The under-12 quarter finals took place on Friday last. First up was our D side in Nenagh who had a good win over Burgess. Following that we had a trip to Ballina where despite some great battling by our A\u2019s who never gave up we came up against a very good Ballina team.<\/div>\n
