We have all dreamt about it. We have all enacted it countless times in our back gardens, on the playing pitches in MacDonagh Park and elsewhere. Playing in the blue and gold jersey, deep in stoppage time and our side trailing by two points. And when the courage was needed most, we summonsed it to blast home a spectacular winning goal and spark wild scenes of celebrations. However, very few get to live the dream.<\/p>\n

This weekend Grace O’ Brien joined a small, elite group of those who have done just that. In the fifth minute of stoppage time Tipperary trailed Offaly by two points in the Liberty Insurance All-Ireland championship and C\u00e1it Devane drilled a rasping 30 yard free which was expertly saved but the rebound fell to Grace and, as she fell to her knees, she managed to return the ball, crashing it to the back of the net to break Offaly hearts and send the Premier into delirium. The goal has sent Tipperary into pole position to make it to the knockout stages of the championship. Grace also managed two points earlier in the game before scoring her first ever championship goal for Tipperary, a goal that she will never forget. <\/p>\n

Michael Heffernan fires over a first-half free following a foul on Pearse Morris which left the mid-fielder with a broken arm<\/p><\/div>\n

Our senior hurlers have advanced to the county league final where they will play Borris-Ileigh after beating Toomevara 3-17 to 3-8 in St. Michael’s Park on Tuesday evening last. Toomevara started brightly but following a fortuitous Michael Heffernan goal, the Blues’ took control to secure the win. The performance was made all the more impressive when you take into account that energy sapping weekend they had in Down a few days pervious where they won the local tournament. Well done to all the management and players on the win. <\/p>\n

Pearse Morris<\/h2>\n

All of us in the club wish for a speedy recovery to Pearse Morris who broke an arm following a challenge in the county senior league semi-final against Toomevara. Never one to look on the dark side of life Pearse was back in MacDonagh Park soon after surgery vowing to return better than ever. <\/p>\n

Junior-A<\/h2>\n

Our junior-A side played Toomevara on Sunday evening and were unfortunately on the wrong side of a 1-21 to 0-11 scoreline. The lads must refocus for their next game which takes place this Friday against Burgess.<\/p>\n

<\/div>\n

Our junior-B side will complete their season on Friday evening when they travel to Newport to take on the locals in the final game of the round robin stage of the championship. Unfortunately, having lost their previous three games qualification for the knock-out stages is beyond the team but they will be hoping to finish the competition on a positive note. <\/p>\n

Our minor hurlers played Lorrha Rovers Gaels in Puckane on Wednesday evening and suffered a 1-21 to 1-17 defeat. They face Borris-Ileigh this Wednesday at 7pm in Templederry. <\/p>\n

Our under-8 camogie team partook in a county blitz on Saturday hosted by Burgess Duharra Camogie Club in Kilcolman. We fielded two teams with each team playing three games. Twenty girls represented the club on this lovely Saturday morning and we played teams from Toomevara, Burgess Duharra, Kiladangan, Drom & Inch and Ballina. Training for this team, along with the under-6 panel, takes place at the usual times this week. <\/p>\n

The under-12 side travelled to Mick Neville Park, Rathkeale in Limerick to participate in the Cam\u00e1n to Munster where they played Bandon, Patrickswell and Kiladangan. A great day was had by all.<\/p>\n

The under-6s held a very enjoyable blitz in Nenagh on Saturday morning against both Kilruane MacDonaghs and Roscrea. With close to 70 children and twelve teams in attendance, each team played three games in what was a great morning of hurling for the youngest in our club. Thanks to both Kilruane MacDonaghs and Roscrea for making the trip and to our players and their parents for the hospitality shown to our guests. Please keep the children practicing at home as their great progress is really evident during these enjoyable blitz\u2019s.<\/div>\n

The under-8s continue to have great numbers at every hurling and football session. Training continues this week as normal and we are running a Gaelic football blitz next Saturday morning in MacDonagh Park. The summer camp takes place the week after from Monday 23rd to Friday 27th and we will not have training sessions midweek while the camp is running.

The under-12s had two highly entertaining games against Ballina on Friday evening. In the D game, our side had a great win with some great scores on show. In the A game, our side suffered defeat following a strong second half performance. Quarter finals are due to take place next week and preparation is ongoing. We played Kilruane MacDonaghs in Ardcroney on Monday evening and unfortunately lost both the A and D game

Our annual raceday will take place on August 10th in Limerick Junction with music from the amazing Little Green Cars. Last year’s event was a fantastic night and this year promises to be even better. Tickets, which will sell very fast, are available from any committee member. <\/p>\n

Louise (10) celebrates the full-time whistle in the county intermediate final in 2016 with Maeve Coffey and Caroline Browne<\/p><\/div>\n

There’s going to be a lot of disappointed men in Nenagh and beyond with the news that Louise Hickey is tying the knot this weekend as she marries her sweetheart David “Rock” Gleeson. Louise is a stalwart of the club having won league and championship medals at junior-B, junior-A and an intermediate championship medal. Louise has also mentored underage teams in hurling, Gaelic football and camogie. Everyone at the club wishes Louise and David many years of happiness together.<\/p>\n
