The junior A Camogie team also return to action this weekend. Meanwhile we appeal for support for the Blues\u2019 senior hurling team who take on Portroe in a county senior hurling championship quarter-final at Semple Stadium, Thurles on Sunday next. Please read on for all the latest news, photos, reports and fixtures!<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\n<strong>SENIOR<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Senior:<\/strong> Liam Heffernan\u2019s senior hurlers will take on Portroe in the quarter-finals of the Clean Ireland Recycling County Senior Hurling Championship at Semple Stadium, Thurles on Sunday, September 27th at 2pm &#8211; this contest will form the first part of a double header which also features the clash between Thurles Sarsfields and Clonoulty-Rossmore (throw-in at 3.30pm). The entire panel have worked hard in preparation for this game and would appreciate your support.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Under-21A:<\/strong> The under-21A hurling team will face Roscrea in the opening round of this year\u2019s championship. The fixtures schedule for that competition have not been released as of yet. This year the under-21A hurling team will be managed by Greg Browne (manager), Con Morris and Michael McNamara. The 2015 Walsh\u2019s of Nenagh North Tipperary Under-21A Hurling Championship will be run on a knock-out-loser\u2019s-group system. \u00c9ire \u00d3g have been drawn against Roscrea in the opening round. Kilruane MacDonagh\u2019s will face Ballina in a preliminary round game while the remaining first round games will see Kildangan face the winner of the Kilruane versus Ballina game and Toomevara take on Newport Gaels.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Flag Day:<\/strong> \u00c9ire \u00d3g would like to thank the people of Nenagh and the surroundings areas for their generous support of the club flag day.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Newsletter:<\/strong> The August edition of the Nenagh \u00c9ire \u00d3g monthly club newsletter is now available to download. Congratulations to the team and mentors!<\/em><\/center><\/p>\n<hr>\n<p><strong>JUVENILE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Our under-6 hurlers enjoyed a great morning on Saturday playing against Portroe and Kilruane in Nenagh. Many thanks to our visitors.<\/p>\n<p>The Nenagh under-8 team hosted Kilruane MacDonagh&#8217;s in the annual Tommy Mulcahy Tournament on Saturday morning. Both panels provided great entertainment for mentors and parents alike. Well done to all. Training continues on Wednesday at 5.15pm.<\/p>\n<p>Best wishes from all the boys for a speedy recovery to Tommy Mulcahy who is under the weather at the moment.<\/p>\n<p>Our under-11 team took part in a blitz in Newport on Saturday playing against Newport, Ahane and Clooney-Quin. All had a good day out with some great hurling being played. Thanks to Newport GAA for their hospitality.<\/p>\n<p>Well done to our under-13 hurlers who qualified for the North under-13 Plate final following a hard-fought victory over Ballina on Thursday night. Ballina dominated proceedings in the first half and led by four points at the break. However, an early second half goal from the stick of Ben West put the game in the melting pot. With both teams giving their all from here to the end, it took a long range effort from Diogo Marques to tip the scales in \u00c9ire \u00d3g&#8217;s favour on a score line of 1-7 to 0-9. Well done to both teams. The final has been fixed for next weekend.<\/p>\n<p>Huge congratulations to our under-16A hurlers and captain Mark O\u2019Farrell who brought the cup home to Nenagh following their 2-18 to 1-13 North final win over Roscrea on Saturday. It was a strong and determined performance from the start from the boys who are now in preparation for the county semi-final on Saturday, September 26th at 12 noon in Kickham Park in Thurles against South champions Moyle Rovers. Players will be contacted with their training times soon.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p><strong>CAMOGIE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Under-8:<\/strong> We travelled to Ballina on Saturday to take part in a blitz. The girls had a wonderful day out. Thank you to our hosts for the great day.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Under-10:<\/strong> We made the trip to Boherlahan-Dualla on Saturday to partake in their blitz and had a great day. Thank you to Boherlahan for their hospitality. We will take part in a blitz in Ballina this weekend. Mentors will be in touch with the details.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Under-14:<\/strong> We were defeated by Newport on Sunday in the Winter League and will play \u00c9ire \u00d3g Annacarty in the next round on Saturday at 12 noon in Annacarty. Management will be in contact with the details.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Junior:<\/strong> We face Holycross in the next round of the championship. This fixture is expected to take place on Sunday at 12 noon in Holycross. The girls have to win to have any hopes of progressing to the knockout stages. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Car Wash:<\/strong> We held a successful car wash on Sunday last in order to raise funds for the club. We wish to thank Keith Deane for allowing us to use his facilities in Lyon\u2019s Garage and we want to thank all the players involved i.e. Mark Hassett, Mike Ryan, S\u00e9amie Morris, Noel Coffey, Kieran O\u2019Brien, Liam McGrath and Tom McAuliffe for washing the cars and all who got their car washed. If any girl has still not returned money please do so as soon as possible.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Flag Weekend:<\/strong> We will be having our annual flag weekend over the first weekend of October. This is a vital fundraiser for the club and if you would like to volunteer one hour of your time please contact Denise Morris or any committee member over the coming weeks.<\/p>\n<p><strong>All-Ireland Minor Football Final:<\/strong> While it wasn\u2019t a day to remember for the county\u2019s minor footballers it was a very memorable day for Avril Dooley who presented the Tom Markham Cup prior to the game to the Croke Park officials. Well done Avril, we hope you had a fantastic day out. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Condolences:<\/strong> All in the club were saddened to learn of the passing of Eddie Connolly following a long battle with cancer. Eddie\u2019s fight against his illness was inspirational and through the Score 4 Eddie campaign he managed to raise a significant amount of money for the Eddie Connolly Trust, The Friends of St Luke&#8217;s Hospital and St James Hospitals. Our junior and minor teams took part in the Score 4 Eddie campaign last week and we would encourage all our players, members and supporters to contribute to this excellent cause by texting MATCH to 50300.
