Crucially, however, we are not simply interested in developing our playing population. We are also interested in attracting volunteers who are interested in becoming coaches with the club and administrators of the club.

Here at Éire Óg we appreciate that not everyone can train a team, that not everyone is interested in coaching and that not everyone has time to attend committee meetings. That said there are plenty of very practical ways in which you can help your club work hard for the betterment of the local community, our children and our cultural heritage.

We therefore encourage anyone in the community who supports the club and who is prepared to give of their time on a voluntary basis to get involved so that fresh faces can bring fresh ideas forward. If you take that brave first step over the threshold, we guarantee that you will not regret it. So, if you are interested in lending a hand drop us a line – contact us.

“We all identify with our own place. The scoreline does not do our girls justice as they battled to the bitter end with Cahir only managing to pull away in the final fifteen minutes. While we are naturally disappointed with the result we are extremely proud of this bunch of players as they have become the first panel to represent us in the A grade at minor level. This is the first year that all our underage teams have competed in the A grade and reflects another important milestone in our history. It has been a long year for this bunch of players as they all played junior A and/or under-16 for the club and have been training since last February. We want to thank their mentors for their dedication and diligent work as well as the players themselves who worked extremely hard and yet always arrived to training with a smile on their faces. This match concluded our year’s activities on the field of play and thank you to everyone associated with our camogie club for everything throughout 2014.

New Kitchen: We are delighted to announce that the Camogie section has paid for and installed a new kitchen in the clubhouse. We particularly want to thank Denise Morris and Marie O’Brien for cleaning, preparing and painting the kitchen and to Paul Henry for all his expertise in this area. We hope that this upgraded facility will be used and enjoyed regularly by all our members for many years to come.

Volunteers: As we are making our preparations for 2015 we invite anyone who may be interested in getting involved in our club to make contact with us via our email address eireognenagh@gmail.com. If you are interested in coaching, managing or preparing a team in any way you are more than welcome to get involved. We also understand that not everyone is interested in coaching a team and as such if you would like to get involved in the administrative side of the club we would more than appreciate your help. Also we are looking for people to get involved in our monthly club newsletter. If you would like to write articles, take photographs or help out in any other way please do not hesitate to make contact with us.

History Book: The club is delighted to announce that GAA President Liam O’Neill will launch the first two volumes of the book ‘A Central Culture – Gaelic Sport in Nenagh’ at the MacDonagh Park complex on Sunday next, December 7th at 4pm.
