It was a mixed week of results for Nenagh \u00c9ire \u00d3g members involved with county squads.
\n

<\/div>
\nCommiserations to Jake Donellan Houlihan and the Tipperary under-20s who lost to Clare in the Munster Final on Wednesday after a penalty shootout.

<\/div>
\nThe Tipperary senior hurlers were also defeated by Clare on Saturday in the fourth round of the Munster Championship. Their final round takes place on Sunday against Limerick in the Gaelic Grounds at 4pm. Best of luck to Jake, Sam and Josh.

\nCongratulations to \u00c9anna Tucker and the Tipperary minor team who overcame Limerick to win the Munster Final on Friday.

Congratulations to Grace O\u2019Brien on her Munster Final victory with the senior Tipperary team on Saturday 16 May in Semple Stadium.
<\/div>
This latest success adds to Grace\u2019s many county achievements. It marks her second Munster senior title, as she was also part of the victorious 2023 team, and she claimed a National League medal in 2024. Grace was deservedly named Munster Camogie Player of the Year in 2025 for her outstanding performances in the blue and gold, and she finished as top scorer in the 2024 Tipperary Championship season. We are incredibly proud of Grace and all that she continues to achieve. She is a fantastic role model for all aspiring camogie players and represents the club with great pride, dedication and sportsmanship at all times.

Under-6 camogie enjoyed a fantastic blitz on Saturday morning with the under-6 boys. There was great energy, effort and smiles all around. It was a brilliant morning for the girls.

The girls continued training last week on Monday and Wednesday. This week they will play Kiladangan on Tuesday 19 May at 6.30pm in Puckane.

A very wet but happy under-12 Navy Team after their match in Ballina on Wednesday 13th May<\/p><\/div>\n

The Navy team travelled to Ballina on Wednesday 13 May and delivered a very comprehensive performance in extremely challenging weather conditions.

The Blue team play Newport\/Ballinahinch in Newport on Monday 18 May at 6.45pm.

The under-8 boys played Kilruane last Saturday morning in Cloughjordan. The team performed very well and continue to show excellent improvement across all areas of their game.

The under-10 boys took part in a festival of hurling blitz in MacDonagh Park on Saturday with seventeen teams participating from near and far. It was a fantastic occasion for all involved and a great experience for these young hurlers.

The under-14 C team played Clonmel Commercials in Clonmel on Sunday and came away with a deserved victory.

The under-15 group have launched their F\u00e9ile Finals fundraising campaign. This supports both under-15 teams who recently made history by achieving the double and qualifying for the F\u00e9ile na nGael All Ireland hurling final and the Peil na n\u00d3g All Ireland final.

BIBS OF BLOOD! Hogan & Hutchinson Conquer The Colosseum Of The Nenagh Astro<\/h1>\n

Last Wednesday beneath the unforgiving glare of the Astro lights, four warriors entered the arena and only two emerged with their reputations burnished like Roman centurions returning from conquest. It was J & J versus M & M. Jamie Kennedy and John Phelan in the non-bibs corner. Martin Hogan and Mick Hutchinson draped in bibs like battle armour. Forty minutes of Social Ground Hurling became forty minutes of glorious mayhem.
<\/div><\/h2>\n

The opening skirmishes served as the sharpening of swords before war. Two furious five minute warm-up drills saw sliotars flying like flaming arrows across the battleground. First came the relentless end-to-end exchanges with one ball, then the chaos intensified with two balls hurtling through the night air as if unleashed from a catapult in the Colosseum itself. By the time the real contest began every man was primed for combat.
<\/div><\/h3>\n

J & J burst from the traps like gladiators sensing blood, striking an early goal that rattled the bibs brigade. Yet Martin and Mick were unmoved, cool as emperors surveying the carnage below. Slowly but surely the men in bibs seized control, raining scores with ruthless precision to march into the first break with a commanding 10-5 lead.

<\/div>\n

If the first period belonged to M & M, the second was a full-scale invasion. Hogan and Hutchinson swarmed forward with the hunger of lions released into the pit. Goals flowed like wine at a Roman feast as the non-bibs pair struggled to stem the crimson tide. By the second interval the scoreboard told a savage story \u2014 19-7 to the bibs and the contest looked all but over.

<\/div>\n

But wounded pride is a dangerous thing. During the break Kennedy and Phelan gathered themselves like battered gladiators refusing to bow before Caesar. Sticking to \u201cthe process\u201d they launched one final charge into the night. What followed was their finest spell of the battle, snatching the last ten minute duel by 9-8 and restoring a shred of honour to their cause.

<\/div>\n

Still, the night belonged to Martin Hogan and Mick Hutchinson, worthy champions who ruled the Astro like emperors of old. Their 27-16 victory was etched into the cold Nenagh night with thunderous authority.

<\/div>\n

And what a soundtrack accompanied the warfare. The unmistakable clash of ash echoed around the arena like swords striking shields in ancient Rome. Bamboo met ash. Hurley met hurley. Sparks almost seemed to fly. Poor Jamie\u2019s hurley came off second best in a brutal collision with Mick\u2019s bamboo weapon, another casualty in an evening of glorious sporting combat.

When the dust settled all four warriors could depart with heads held high after a magnificent workout drenched in sweat, skill and savage intensity.
