Our senior hurlers recorded a 4-13 to 0-14 win over JK Brackens in MacDonagh Park in round three of the county hurling league with both Ben West and Jamie Cottrell scoring two goals each. Our next game in this competition is against Kiladangan in Puckane in two weeks’ time. <\/p>\n

Nenagh Eire Og extends its deepest sympathies to the family of the late Sadie Coffey. The Coffey family have had a long association with the club including Sadie’s sons Roger and Noel who were part of many successful teams and her grandchildren who were on many teams representing both the camogie and hurling clubs. <\/span><\/p>\n

Well done also to Grace Cleary and Carly Walsh who faced Galway in the All-Ireland Minor A Semi-Final on Saturday, April 11th. It was a hard-fought contest, with Galway emerging winners on a final scoreline of 3-11 to 2-18.

The Under-14s enjoyed a good workout in a challenge match against Kilruane on Sunday, April 12th. The girls now open their championship campaign against Silvermines this Tuesday at 6:45pm in Nenagh. Best of luck to all involved.

Under-16s<\/strong>

Our Under-16 girls lost out to Ballina in the Shield Semi-Final on Wednesday, April 8th in MacDonagh Park after a great game. Nenagh started brightly, scoring some excellent points, but Ballina closed the gap by half-time with three well-taken goals. The second half was another strong contest, with Ballina adding some fine points from distance. The Nenagh girls battled hard right to the final whistle but were unable to regain the lead. Best of luck to Ballina in the final.

Training continues as usual, and new or returning players are always very welcome. The girls are also in action in Junior C this week, with the Under-16 Championship not starting until after the Minor Championship in July.

Plenty of challenge matches are planned in the meantime as preparations continue.<\/p>\n

Under the floodlights last Wednesday night, the Astro turf crackled with energy as a ferocious 2 v 3 Social \u2018ground\u2019 hurling showdown unfolded, a contest as wild as a storm at sea and twice as unpredictable. The non-bibs duo of John Phelan and Conor O\u2019Donovan squared up against the bibs trio of Jamie Kennedy, Eamon Moylan and Martin Gleeson in a forty minute clash that had everything but a referee\u2019s whistle for mercy.
\n

<\/div><\/span>
\nThe battle began with a chaotic ten minute warm-up, balls flying end to end like missiles, two sliotars zipping through the air as if fired from cannons. It was frantic, it was fiery and it set the tone for what would become an all-out war.
\n
<\/div><\/span>
\nWhen the real action kicked off, it didn\u2019t disappoint. After the opening ten minutes, the bibs edged ahead 4-3, with Eamon and Jamie striking like twin predators while Conor single-handedly kept the non-bibs alive with a razor-sharp hat-trick.
\n
<\/div><\/span>
\nThe second period saw the tempo explode. Scores rained down like summer hailstones as the bibs stretched their lead to 11-9. Eamon was unstoppable, hammering home three goals, with Jamie and Martin chipping in with two apiece. Yet the non-bibs refused to wilt, Conor adding two more and John stepping up with four of his own, swinging his hurley like a man possessed.

\nWith one period left, the script looked written. Three against two. Fresh legs versus fading lungs. Surely the bibs would cruise home? But this was no ordinary night. This was madness, drama and pure sporting theatre rolled into one.

<\/div><\/span>
\nIn a move as bold as a last roll of the dice, the non-bibs camp threw John Phelan into attack. What followed was nothing short of explosive. Within thirty seconds of the restart, he had rattled off a hat-trick so fast it left jaws on the floor and defenders spinning like tops. It was lightning in human form.

<\/div><\/span>
\nThe bibs were shell-shocked, their earlier dominance evaporating like mist in the morning sun. The non-bibs surged forward with relentless fury, overturning the deficit and storming to a sensational 16-12 victory that will echo through Social \u2018ground\u2019 hurling folklore for years to come.

<\/div><\/span>
\nJamie and Eamon led the scoring for the beaten side with five goals each, Martin adding two, but it was all about the victors. John Phelan was the undisputed king of the Astro, smashing in nine goals, while Conor O\u2019Donovan chipped in with a magnificent seven.

<\/div><\/span>
\nThere were heroics everywhere you looked. Martin pulled off saves like a man defying gravity, Eamon threw in tackles that rattled bones, Jamie dazzled with cheeky nutmegs and Conor blocked shots like a brick wall. But one man stood above them all. John\u2019s blistering hat-trick and towering tally crowned him the standout performer of the night.

\nNot everyone left smiling. Jamie Kennedy endured a night of heartbreak and splintered timber, seeing two hurleys snapped in brutal 50\/50 clashes, a warrior left counting the cost of battle.

\nRoll on next Wednesday at 8.15pm. If it\u2019s anything like this, expect fireworks, fury and maybe even more history to be written. New comers welcome.<\/p>\n
