Massive congratulations to Nenagh CBS on a fantastic TUS Dr Harty Cup final victory in Ennis on Saturday, overcoming St Flannan\u2019s College by 0-20 to 0-18 in a thrilling contest at Zimmer Biomet P\u00e1irc Ch\u00edos\u00f3g in front of 6,909 supporters. It was a historic achievement as the North Tipperary school claimed their second Harty title just two years after their first, battling back from five points down with captain and man-of-the-match Eoghan Doughan leading the charge with 0-12 and lifting the cup after a fierce tussle. It was a proud day also for our GAA club with six of our own involved in the panel \u2014 Daniel Quinn, James Heffernan, Emmet Jones, \u00c9anna Tucker, Conor Hodgins and Billy O’Brien \u2014 all playing their part in a memorable win that delivered the county\u2019s 20th Harty title and a fourth in a row for Tipperary schools.<\/p>\n

Congratulations to the Tipperary senior hurling team who defeated Offaly in round two of the National Hurling League on Sunday, 5-24 1-19. Our own Josh Keller scored two points in the win. They now face Cork in round three this Saturday in P\u00e1irc U\u00ed Chaoimh at 7:30pm. <\/p>\n

Jake Morris has been named GAA.ie Hurler of the Week<\/strong> following an outstanding showing in Tipperary\u2019s win over Galway last week, edging out strong competition in the public vote.<\/h3>\n

The dynamic Premier forward topped the poll on the GAA\u2019s official Instagram platform with 2,472 votes, finishing narrowly ahead of Cork\u2019s William Buckley on 2,421, while Clare goalkeeper Eibhear Quilligan placed third with 1,055 votes.

Morris underlined his growing influence with a commanding performance in attack against Galway, leading by example on a difficult night for hurling. In a contest decided by the smallest of margins, he struck five points from play, consistently won possession under pressure and added 0-3 from placed balls, providing the cutting edge Tipperary needed when it mattered most.<\/p>\n

Nenagh \u00c9ire \u00d3g camogie players were once again in action at county level over the weekend. Lily Morris represented Tipperary on the Under-17 team on Saturday the 31st in Craughwell against Galway. Grace Cleary and Carly Walsh lined out with the Tipperary Minor team against Cork on 1st February.<\/p>\n

Emerging Talent Program – Launch<\/h1>\n

On Thursday night in the Abbey Court Hotel & Leisure Centre Nenagh \u00c9ire \u00d3g launched the Emerging Talent Program. This initiative is proudly sponsored by SuperValu Nenagh – O’ Riordan’s

Senior club Chairperson Tom Boland opened the night. We then welcomed player development expert Darragh Droog who gave an excellent presentation to the boys and their families.

<\/div>\n

Presentation of medals were then made to the Under 13A county football plate winners. This was the first year of this competition and a real feather in the caps of the Nenagh under-13 boys to bring the trophy home. The team was captained by James Hynes. Darragh Droog was on hand to make the presentations to the boys.

The juvenile section winners of the St Stephens Day road hurling competition were also presented with their prize by the organiser Shane Hennessy.

To close, the boys from the under-16, under-14 & under-12 groups received news that they will be presented with jerseys, shorts and socks as part of the Emerging Talent Program program. The Program will continue over the coming weeks where we will have guests of honour invited in to mentor the boys across the various groups.

Nenagh \u00c9ire \u00d3g Juvenile Club is delighted to announce our Annual Table Quiz Night taking place on Friday, February 13th in Figgerty\u2019s at 9pm.<\/h3>\n

This fun and social event is a great opportunity for members, families and friends of the club to come together for an enjoyable evening while supporting the development of our juvenile teams. Tables of four are \u20ac40 and all proceeds from the night will go directly towards funding equipment, training and activities for our young players. PENALTY DRAMA! O\u2019DONOVAN\u2019S FINAL-PUCK DAGGER BREAKS BIBS<\/h2>\n

Forget Croke Park, forget Championship Sunday \u2014 this was Astro Park under lights, and it delivered drama, controversy and a last-puck sting in the tail.<\/h3>\n

<\/div>
An epic 40-minute social hurling slugfest unfolded on Wednesday night as the four-man Bibs outfit of Mick Hutchinson, Conor Hayes, Jamie Kennedy and Eamon Moylan took on the numerical advantage of the five-strong Non-Bibs \u2014 John Phelan, Martin Hogan, Martin Gleeson, Ger Ryan and Conor O\u2019Donovan.
<\/div>
Played over four ferocious 10-minute quarters, the early exchanges belonged to the Non-Bibs, who flew out of the traps and hit the Bibs with a 3-0 sucker punch by the first break. The Bibs, shell-shocked but unbowed, finally found their range in the second quarter, rattling the net three times, but the Non-Bibs kept their noses in front and went in 5-3 up at the turn.
<\/div>
Then came the fireworks.
<\/div>
The third quarter saw the Bibs crank up the tempo, throwing everything at the extra man. Goals flew in at both ends in a frantic spell \u2014 five for the Bibs, four for the Non-Bibs \u2014 leaving the Non-Bibs hanging on by their fingertips at 9-8 heading into the final stretch.
<\/div>
The intensity went through the roof in the last quarter. Tackles tightened, legs burned, and the Bibs clawed their way back to 10-10, sniffing a heroic draw against the odds. But just when the Bibs thought they\u2019d survived, disaster struck.
<\/div>
With the very last puck of the game, up stepped Conor O\u2019Donovan, cool as you like, to bury a penalty winner, beating Mick Hutchinson despite a heroic effort between the posts. Cue scenes.
<\/div>
Final score: Non-Bibs 11, Bibs 10.
<\/div>
In a rare stat-man\u2019s dream, every single player hit the scoresheet. Ger Ryan led the Non-Bibs charge with four goals, backed up by John Phelan\u2019s three, Martin Hogan\u2019s two, and one apiece from Martin Gleeson and the ice-cold O\u2019Donovan. For the Bibs, Mick Hutchinson led by example with four, Conor Hayes chipped in three, Jamie Kennedy bagged two and Eamon Moylan added one.
<\/div>
The night wrapped up not with analysis or recriminations, but with a full-throated rendition of \u201cHappy Birthday\u201d for John Phelan as he marked a milestone birthday \u2014 proof that even in defeat or victory, social hurling still knows how to finish in style.
<\/div>
Same time, same place next Wednesday at 8pm \u2014 and if this one is anything to go by, you\u2019d want to be there early.<\/p>\n
