Ireland Lights Up 2026<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The Nenagh \u00c9ire \u00d3g five-week GAA Healthy Club initiative begins on the Sl\u00ed \u00c9ire \u00d3g Walkway and continues every Tuesday until 11 February. Walkers will depart at 7.00pm, with registration from 6.50pm.<\/p>\n

These family-friendly community walks are suitable for all ages and abilities. The programme encourages participants to improve fitness, meet new people, establish healthy habits early in the new year and enjoy our excellent new walkway facility at Nenagh \u00c9ire \u00d3g.<\/p>\n

There is no charge, but all participants must sign the registration sheet each evening from 6.50pm. No dogs are permitted.<\/p>\n

What to bring: comfortable walking shoes, water, a torch, Hi-Vis or reflective gear and your enthusiasm.<\/p>\n

A huge congratulations to Nenagh CBS on their victory over Thurles CBS in the Harty Cup semi-final. Commiserations to Niall Cahill and Thurles CBS. Nenagh \u00c9ire \u00d3g is well represented on the panel by Emmet Jones, \u00c9anna Tucker, Billy O\u2019Brien, James Heffernan, Conor Hodgins and Daniel Quinn. We wish them all the very best in the final.<\/p>\n

Cold Night, Hot Scoring as Bibs Battle Back<\/h2>\n

Seven hardy souls braved cold, damp and wintry conditions to light up the Astro last Wednesday night with a spirited game of Social Ground Hurling that delivered goals, drama and no shortage of entertainment.<\/p>\n

<\/div>\n

Played over 35 minutes in an unusual format of two ten-minute halves and a final fifteen-minute spell, the contest burst into life early as the four-strong non-bibs side stormed into a 6\u20130 lead. Tom Bourke led the charge with four well-taken goals, while Martin Hogan and John Phelan added one apiece to set the early tone.<\/p>\n

The bibs side found their rhythm in the second period and roared back into contention. Mick Hutchinson opened their account with a fine finish and went on to add two more, with Conor Hayes also raising a green flag. Despite the revival, further goals from Bourke, Hogan and Phelan kept the non-bibs in front as the scoreboard read 9\u20134 at the break.<\/p>\n

Momentum shifted again in the final spell as the bibs produced their strongest passage of the night, outscoring their opponents by four goals to two. Hutchinson completed a magnificent personal haul with four more strikes, while Tom Bourke and Eamon Moylan replied for the non-bibs to leave the final tally at a lively 11\u20138.<\/p>\n

Hutchinson finished as top scorer on the night with seven goals, with Bourke close behind on six for the non-bibs. Between the posts, Ger Ryan was in outstanding form and claimed the save of the game when he spectacularly tipped Bourke\u2019s penalty effort over the bar.<\/p>\n
