Emotional Win for Nenagh as Minors Honour Coach Rory O\u2019Farrell<\/h1>\n

<\/div>\n

Nenagh \u00c9ire \u00d3g delivered a commanding performance to capture the North Tipperary Minor-A Football title with a comprehensive victory over Roscrea, sealing a 7-14 to 1-6 win. From the opening whistle the Nenagh side imposed themselves, their work on the training ground evident in a dominant display across every line of the field.<\/h3>\n

North Tipperary Minor Football Champions 2025<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/div>\n

Captain Adam Boland set the tone from centre back, orchestrating play and frequently linking with the influential midfield pairing of Aodh\u00e1n and \u00c9anna Tucker. The trio drove Nenagh forward repeatedly, their understanding and movement providing the platform for sustained pressure.<\/p>\n

<\/div>\n

Out wide, Adam Quigley impressed with an energetic performance at wing forward, while Michael MacCloone proved a constant threat from centre forward. Inside, Harry Walsh was highly effective in the corner, using possession intelligently and distributing cleverly whenever he gained control.<\/p>\n

<\/div>\n

Midfield belonged to the Tuckers, Aodh\u00e1n and \u00c9anna covering huge ground over the 60 minutes. Their work rate and physical presence not only disrupted Roscrea\u2019s rhythm but consistently launched Nenagh\u2019s attacks.<\/p>\n

<\/div>\n

It was a complete team display, with all substitutes seeing game time and contributing to the overall performance. Nenagh\u2019s spread of scorers reflected their dominance: goals came from Michael Ryan, Zakk Ryan, Michael MacCloone, Adam Quigley, Aodh\u00e1n Tucker and a brace from \u00c9anna Tucker.<\/p>\n

After the final whistle, captain Adam Boland accepted the North Tipperary Minor A Cup on behalf of his teammates and management. In an emotional and heartfelt speech, he paid tribute to the late Rory O\u2019Farrell, a cherished coach and mentor who had guided this group from their earliest days in Gaelic football.<\/p>\n

Adam reminded those present of Rory\u2019s immense passion for coaching and his deep connection with this squad. He spoke movingly of their belief that Rory would have relished the performance and was surely smiling down with pride as his \u201cboys\u201d lifted the cup.<\/p>\n

Families, friends and supporters gathered afterwards to celebrate a memorable day for the club. The victory marks a significant milestone for this talented under-17 group and is a fitting tribute to the work of the management team: Paudie O\u2019Leary, Dan Donovan, Kevin Tucker, Christy McLoughlin, Stephen Ryan and Anthony White. This win adds to the F\u00e9ile Peile na n\u00d3g<\/em> Division Two title won by this group two years ago.<\/p>\n

Congratulations to our own Christopher \u201cCookie\u201d Ryan who helped secure the Special Leinster Club Junior Hurling Final on Saturday as his adopted club Amsterdam GAC defeated Longford Slashers 0-15 to 0-14. Introduced as a first-half substitute, Cookie made an impact by scoring an important point.<\/p>\n

Amsterdam GAC have become the first non-Irish based club to win this Leinster championship and have now added to their remarkable run of four-in-a-row European titles. Earlier this month they travelled to Ashbourne and overcame Meath IHC finalists Rathmolyon 1-13 to 1-11. Congratulations Cookie and best wishes in the upcoming All-Ireland championship. It was great to see so many from Nenagh \u00c9ire \u00d3g make the trip to Glennon Brothers Pearse Park to support him and we look forward to seeing Cookie in action again soon.<\/p>\n

Congratulations to Dylan Corrigan and Se\u00e1n Tully, who were both part of the North Tipperary hurling panel that won the A Peadar Cummins Cup in Coolmore Park. North Tipperary defeated Mid Tipp in the final.

All ready for the Limerick Parkrun<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/div>\n

A Nenagh \u00c9ire \u00d3g group participated in the Limerick Parkrun at the University of Limerick campus on Saturday 22 November.<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/div>\n

This was event four of the Healthy Club FIVE x FIVE Challenge 2025.<\/em><\/p>\n

<\/div>\n

This is usually a very well-attended parkrun, with 155 participants on Saturday last including five from Nenagh \u00c9ire \u00d3g. The Limerick course starts and finishes at the UL Boathouse. It brings participants along the riverbank on a woodland trail and over some lovely old humpback bridges. It is well worth a try!<\/p>\n

A big thank you to all the volunteers for hosting our \u00c9ire \u00d3g group on Saturday. We greatly appreciate all the unseen work that takes place to make events like these happen every weekend.<\/p>\n

The final parkrun of the Healthy Club 2025 series takes place on Saturday 29 November at Knockanacree Woods. Meet at 9.15am for the first-time briefing.<\/p>\n

Knockanacree is a trail run, very different to the other locations. It is a great opportunity to learn a walking route in a local woods. Dog walkers are welcome too!<\/p>\n

The next Meet and Train group takes place on the Sl\u00ed \u00c9ire \u00d3g Walkway on Tuesday 25th at 7.00pm Newcomers along with walkers and runners of all levels are always welcome.<\/p>\n

National Healthy Club Conference 2025<\/h1>\n

Deirdre O\u2019Connor and Nuala Connolly represented Nenagh \u00c9ire \u00d3g at the Healthy Club National Conference in Croke Park on Saturday 22 November 2025.<\/h2>\n

<\/div>\n

This year\u2019s theme was \u2018Community Champions\u2019. The keynote speaker was Tony Griffin, widely recognised as one of Ireland\u2019s most skilled and sought after performance specialists. His impactful presentation was a powerful reminder of the role of GAA clubs in giving players and members of the community a place where they belong.<\/p>\n

Dr Niamh Clarke, HSE principal psychologist and co-chair of the Heads of Psychology Services, Ireland, presented on stress and the impact of stress in Ireland. Following her presentation, we are keen to signpost the new free self-directed online programme<\/a> About Balancing Stress, covering key topics including managing stress, worry, anxiety, low mood and relationship stress. Participants can watch at their own pace, in their own time, using a phone, tablet or laptop. No registration is required.<\/p>\n

Aoife Lane, South East Technological University, closed proceedings and used a quotation from Nenagh \u00c9ire \u00d3g feedback in the early days of the Healthy Club project in the title of her talk: \u2018Opening Gates, Breaking Stigmas .. the Second Wave (of the Healthy Club project)\u2019. Her research focuses on closing the gender data gap and building equality for girls and women in sport, physical activity, exercise and health. One of her key messages was that health promotion should be embedded in every decision a club makes. She especially highlighted the importance of coach education and being an empowering and supportive GAA coach.<\/p>\n

Lots of ideas and resources were shared during the two panel sessions and at the various information stands and workshops throughout the day.<\/p>\n

One of the important points driven home at the conference was the scope of GAA clubs to build on existing infrastructure and volunteering at local level to become real champions of health promotion across the community. There are currently 700 clubs involved in Healthy Club across the country. It was great to see stats and quotes from some of the early Nenagh \u00c9ire \u00d3g Healthy Club initiative celebrated on the large Healthy Club display wall in the foyer of the conference centre. The project was led by Michael Geaney and a very active committee at the time.<\/p>\n

Key focus areas for Nenagh \u00c9ire \u00d3g following the 2025 conference are developing more age-friendly activities and building inclusivity. We invite anyone with a particular interest in those themes, or anyone who would like to get involved in the Healthy Club project, to get in touch. Social Ground Hurling Report<\/strong><\/h1>\n

In a fiercely contested 3 x 10 minute clash of social ground hurling on the Astro on Wednesday last, the four-player bibs and the three-player non-bibs served up a gripping spectacle that finished level at seven goals apiece.<\/p>\n

<\/div>
The opening period saw the bibs assert early dominance, taking a 3-1 lead. Conor O\u2019Donovan set the tone with a beautifully taken opener, slipping the ball through John Phelan\u2019s legs with a deft nutmeg before finishing with composure.<\/p>\n

<\/div>
By the end of the second spell the bibs still held the advantage at 5-4. The story of that period, however, was O\u2019Donovan finding himself on the receiving end of two slick nutmegs from Mick Hutchinson, both of which led directly to goals for the non-bibs.<\/p>\n

<\/div>
The final ten minutes produced the night\u2019s most dramatic swing. The non-bibs, fuelled by a surge of momentum, stormed into a 7-6 lead thanks to a superb three-goal burst from Phelan. Yet just when it looked like the comeback would be complete, O\u2019Donovan struck late to rescue a draw for the bibs.<\/p>\n

Phelan finished as top scorer with four goals, supported by Hutchinson with two and Eamon Moylan with one. For the bibs, O\u2019Donovan and Jamie Kennedy shared six goals, with Kennedy marking his hat-trick by rolling out his trademark cartwheels. Their remaining goal was calmly slotted home by Martin Gleeson, while Martin Hogan delivered a resolute defensive performance throughout.<\/p>\n

Goal of the game went to Moylan, who unleashed a stunning long-range effort from near halfway. The \u201cClash of the Ash\u201d moment belonged to Hutchinson and Gleeson, both fully committing to a thunderous 50\/50 pull from a throw-in to restart play.<\/p>\n

Another session awaits next Wednesday night at 8pm, with expectations rising after tonight\u2019s enthralling encounter.<\/p>\n

Nenagh \u00c9ire \u00d3g\u2019s Seamus Morris is taking part in the Quid Games on behalf of Tipperary GAA and needs to raise \u20ac3,000 to participate. His overall goal is to raise \u20ac5,000, with \u20ac1,000 going to the Dillon Quirke Foundation and \u20ac1,000 to Nenagh \u00c9ire \u00d3g.<\/p>\n

As part of his fundraising effort, Seamus is hosting a Come Dine With Me evening in the Hibernian Inn on Friday, November 28th.<\/p>\n

Tickets cost \u20ac30, which includes a two-course meal and wine \u2014 and 100% of the ticket proceeds will go directly to the fundraising total.<\/p>\n
