Ger McCarthy RIP<\/strong><\/p>\n

All in Nenagh \u00c9ire \u00d3g were truly shocked and saddened to hear of the untimely passing of Ger McCarthy at the weekend.<\/p>\n

Ger was a lifelong and passionate supporter of Nenagh \u00c9ire \u00d3g \u2013 he hurled with the club in his younger years, notably winning North and County U16 titles in 1979. Over the past number of years Ger got involved as mentor and manager with both juvenile and adult teams, successes here included guiding the U16s in 2017 and Juniors in 2021 to North hurling titles. He also had the role of Registrar with the Juvenile Committee for a number of years and was a tireless worker on that Committee for many years. Ger was especially proud when son Conor won U20 Munster and All Ireland titles with Tipperary in 2019 and this year when he was called up to the Tipperary senior panel. A minutes silence was observed before the League semi final last Saturday evening in Ger’s memory. <\/p>\n

Players, club officials and supporters all gathered to provide a Gurad of Honour following Ger’s funeral mass on Tuesday – the large crowd in attendance was a fitting testament to the popularity of Ger and the respect all in the club had for him. We in Nenagh \u00c9ire \u00d3g have undoubtedly lost a great clubman and Ger\u2019s passion and enthusiasm for the club will be sadly missed by all. <\/p>\n

To his wife Annette, daughter Laura, son Conor, father Jimmy, sisters, brother and the extended McCarthy and Moloney families we offer our deepest sympathies. <\/p>\n

Co Senior League<\/strong><\/p>\n

We are due to play Thurles Sarsfields in Round 2 of the Co Senior Hurling League next weekend \u2013 this game will take place on Thurles Sarsfields pitch in Killinan on Sunday 2nd<\/sup> April at 2pm.<\/p>\n

Junior Football<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Junior A Football Championship game against Kilruane MacDonaghs was postponed last weekend \u2013 no refixture to date.<\/p>\n

Lotto<\/strong><\/p>\n

Last Monday night\u2019s lotto draw was postponed as a mark of respect to the late Ger McCarthy.<\/p>\n

<\/div>\n

The draw took place on Wed night, 29th<\/sup> March, results below:<\/p>\n

There was no winner of this week’s lotto jackpot. The numbers drawn were 1, 2, 10 & 29.<\/p>\n

    Membership<\/strong><\/p>\n

    All membership for 2023 must be paid by the end of this week \u2013 this can be paid through Foireann.ie. If you are already set up on Foireann simply login and select and pay your membership type here. If you do not have an account, go to Foireann.ie and choose the New User \u2013 Register Option. Once you have set up an account your membership can then be paid here. Membership rates remain the same as last year and are as follows:<\/p>\n

    Defibs for Life, Nenagh<\/strong><\/p>\n

    A new community group in Nenagh, Defibs for Life, are launching their new defibrillator group in April. This launch will take place in the Abbey Court Hotel on 13th April at 8pm.<\/p>\n

    This group is being set up to provide life saving defibrillators in Nenagh and the surrounding areas. So help spread the word and come along on the night and hear all about their plans and how you can help.<\/p>\n

    The U13 C & D panels both played on Tuesday night and both came away with wins- the C team defeated Ballinahinch while the D team won out against Silvermines. Well done to both groups.<\/p>\n

    Upcoming fixtures for Under 15 football, we play Silvermines on March 30th at 6:15pm in Dolla and on April 13th we play Toomevara at 6:30pm in Nenagh <\/p>\n

    Training was cancelled last Monday evening due to the closure of MacDonagh Park as a mark of respect to the late Ger McCarthy – U10 training resumes next Monday 03rd at 6pm.

    Tipperary <\/strong>Senior<\/strong><\/p>\n

    The Tipperary Senior camogie team were beaten by currrent All Ireland Champions – Kilkenny last Saturday by 1 point in injury time on a score line of Galway 0-14  Tipperary 0-13 and therefore were unlucky not to qualify for a place in the League Final in April.<\/p>\n

    Grace O\u2019Brien played Corner Forward and scored 2 points from play.<\/p>\n

    Tipperary Junior<\/strong><\/p>\n

    The Tipperary Junior team had a good win over Wexford over the weekend in the Very League on a score line of Tipperary 1-15  to Wexford 2.08. Rachel Maher played full back.<\/p>\n

    The final group match for this team is away to Galway on April 8th .<\/p>\n
