Official Opening<\/strong><\/p>\n

What a great occasion Bank Holiday Monday turned out to be when we welcomed GAA President, Larry McCarthy, to MacDonagh Park to officially open the new Hurling Wall & Astro Turf facility and to unveil the patrons Jigsaw.<\/u><\/p>\n

<\/div>\n

A great turn out of families and friends of Nenagh \u00c9ire \u00d3g and the wider community gathered in Mac Donagh Park where proceedings kicked off with musical entertainment provided by Lisa Manning, Bubba Shakespeare, DJ Mickey Mac, Comhaltas group and Slevin Dancers. The President arrived a short time after and was led in by a guard of honour formed by our youngest members from the juvenile and camogie groups. A walkaround to showcase the facilities and to take in the skills on display in the new hurling wall followed before MC for the afternoon, Damien Lawlor, got the official opening ceremonies underway and introduced the speakers for the day.<\/p>\n

With the speeches complete, next up was the launch of the One Club document, signed off by Senior & Camogie Club Chairpersons, John Tooher & Tom Boland followed by the presentation from our Community Lotto to Carmh\u00e1 and Pieta House. The final act of the day was left to the President to officially cut the ribbon, ably assisted by Tara McTiernan and Kevin Liston, and to unveil the Jigsaw containing all the names of our patrons who generously donated to this phase of the project.<\/u><\/p>\n

A huge thanks to everyone who helped out on the day to make this event the great success it was \u2013 to the organising Committee who put together a great afternoon\u2019s entertainment and to everyone who helped prepare the facilities for the day. And thanks as ever to our loyal supporters and to the wider community who joined us on the day to make this a great occasion of celebration for the Club.<\/p>\n

    Tipperary<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Well done to Sam O’Farrell and the Tipperary minors who defeated Waterford on Tuesday night to qualify for the Munster Final – they now play Clare in the final on Wed night next. Sam captains the team.<\/p>\n

    Best of luck to Josh Keller and the Tipperary U20 team who play Limerick in the Munster Final on Wed. Josh starts at wing forward.<\/p>\n

    Best of luck also to Barry Heffernan and Jake Morris and the Tipperary seniors in their Munster Championship Round 3 game against Limerick on Sunday next.<\/p>\n

    Juniors<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Our Junior As lost out to Roscrea last Fri evening in Round 4 of the League on a scoreline of 2 – 20 to 1 – 13 with Stevie Hallinan getting the goal. The final group game is against Borrisoleigh on Fri evening next at 7pm in MacDonagh Park – a win is needed here to qualify for the semi finals.<\/p>\n

    Our Junior Bs had a bye in Round 3 last weekend and are due to play Kiladangan on Sat evening next at 5pm in Puckane.<\/p>\n

    Senior<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Our seniors were defeated by Borrisoleigh last Tuesday night in Round 4 of the Co League. Their final game in the league is against JK Brackens on Sunday 15th May.<\/p>\n

    National Club Draw<\/strong><\/p>\n

    We are currently selling tickets for the national Clubs Draw. This is a One Club Fundraiser and tickets at \u20ac10 each are available from the Senior, Juvenile and Camogie Club Officers and Committee members. Please note that tickets should be returned to Catherine McTiernan by Friday week, 13th May.<\/p>\n

    Darkness Into Light<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Darkness into Light has asked Nenagh \u00c9ire \u00d3g members\/supporters to volunteer as stewards for their annual walk. If you can help and be at the Scout’s Hall at 3.45am on May 7th, please text 086 0855165 and we will pass on your details.<\/p>\n

    Sponsorship of First Aid Equipment<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Nenagh \u00c9ire \u00d3g Juvenile club have received sponsorship of new first aid kits for each age group. The Juvenile club sincerely thank Bl\u00e1ith\u00edn & Pierce Finn of Ryan’s pharmacy Nenagh for their kind gesture in sponsoring the first aid kits for the various groups, the juvenile club coaches are delighted with the new first aid bags.   <\/p>\n

    We had a fantastic afternoon welcoming G.A.A President Larry McCarthy will visit McDonagh Park Nenagh in order to officially open our new club hurling facility & unveil the patrons jigsaw. This was a fun filled day for families and friends of Nenagh \u00c9ire \u00d3g. Thanks to all the committee and hard working members of the club who pulled together to make the day such a success and enjoyable for all.<\/div>\n

    U<\/strong>nder 7<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Our Under 7 boys continue to train every Saturday morning from 10-11am. It’s great to see such an improvement from all the boys in a short space of time! Training has moved to the outside field for the summer. We always like to see new faces so any boys born in the years 2015\/16 please come along on Saturday mornings from 10-11am.  <\/p>\n

    Under 9<\/strong><\/p>\n

    The boys travelled to Drom for a blitz last Saturday morning and played really well, it was a very enjoyable morning for all the boys and families. <\/p>\n

    Normally Under 9 hurling training continues on Saturday mornings at 10am however, on Saturday next there will be no training due to the large number of boys making First Holy Communion. We wish the boys the best of luck with their big occasion and hope they have a fabulous day. Football training on Wednesday evenings from 6-7 p.m on the outside field. New boys born in 2013 and 2014 are always welcome to join. Contact Cathal on 086 080 6460 or the club social media sites with any queries. <\/p>\n

    Under 11<\/strong><\/p>\n

    The three Under 11 teams played two Ballina teams and Burgess on Friday evening & Saturday morning last in football. All games were very competitive and the boys are really progressing with every game. <\/p>\n

    New players born in 2011 and 2012 are welcome to come along and give it a try. Contact 0874086439 for more details. training takes place every Tuesday – hurling, 6 – 7pm & Friday – football, 6 to 7pm. <\/p>\n

    Please encourage any boys that would like to start football to come along Friday. <\/p>\n

    Under 13<\/strong><\/p>\n

    The Under 13 A’s beat Ballina in Ballina to reach the north football final which will be played in Kilcolman on Thursday evening at 6.45. The C team lost to Moneygall in their semi final last week despite putting in a really strong second half. Best of luck to the A team on Thursday evening in their final, all support welcome.<\/p>\n

    Training on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday evenings unless we have a match. <\/p>\n

    Under 15<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Our Under 15 footballers competed in Feile Peil last weekend and performed really well. The boys had a good win in the football championship on Thursday night last against Moneygall. <\/p>\n

    Congratulations to Jake and Callum who represented their county v Kilkenny in the Arrabawn cup during the week.<\/p>\n

    The panel and management send every good wish to Walter for Tuesday.<\/p>\n

    Training for this group continues on Tuesdays from 7-8 p.m and on Thursday evenings at 6pm.<\/p>\n

    Our Under 17 group opened their hurling league on Monday April 25th v Holycross in Nenagh with a win. <\/div>\n

    Tipperary<\/strong><\/div>\n
    Nenagh \u00c9ire \u00d3gs Grace O’Brien played in midfield for Tipperary in the Munster Championship semi-final against Clare on Sunday. Grace scored a point in the first half and also a point in extra time in the second half to level the game.  <\/div>\n
    The replay will take place next Sunday in the Gaelic Grounds Limerick before the Limerick V Tipperary Hurling match.<\/div>\n

    Our first team travelled to Ballinahinch to play a very exciting game against Newport\/Ballinahinch on Thursday evening last. The sides were evenly matched in the first half, but as the second half wore on, Nenagh took a grip on the game through some tenacious defending by the backs, hard work by the Midfield and some fine link-up play in the forwards. <\/div>\n
    On Saturday evening Nenagh 2 welcomed Holycross\/Ballycahill to Nenagh. The girls had to up their game to compete with a strong Holycross team, but they each got stuck in and gave their all. <\/div>\n
    No Nenagh 1 game this week, Nenagh 2 due to play Shannon Rovers on Tuesday. Time and venue TBC.<\/div>\n

    On Sunday morning our U12 girls welcomed Cratloe to \u00c9ire \u00d3g. Each club provided 2 teams with a total of 45 girls playing 2 games. We would like to thank Cratloe for the challenge matches while on their way to Thurles to support their County teams in both camogie & hurling. All 45 girls played their hearts out & did both clubs proud. We would also like to thank Niall Cahill for refereeing, Paddy Devenny for taking photos, Danny Corbett for organising the games & providing the treat bags from Jilly & Joe\u2019s for for all of the girls. Training will resume on Thursday @ 6pm. It\u2019s important that all girls attend as their U12 matches are due to start shortly. <\/div>\n

    The \u00c9ire \u00d3gres are back. The Nenagh \u00c9ire \u00d3gres camp will start on the Saturday the 14th of May and is kindly sponsored by EBS Nenagh. It\u2019s a four week fundamental movement skills camp. Its costs \u20ac10 and all children receive an \u00d3gres t-shirt on the final day.<\/div>\n
    It will take place on the 14th of May, 21st of May, 28th of May, and the 4th of June on the Nenagh \u00c9ire \u00d3g Astro (E45HY06).
