{"id":1605,"date":"2013-11-17T16:39:05","date_gmt":"2013-11-17T16:39:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nenagheireog.com\/?p=1605"},"modified":"2013-11-17T16:39:36","modified_gmt":"2013-11-17T16:39:36","slug":"kilruane-prove-too-good-for-eire-og-in-under-21-semi-final","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nenagheireog.com\/index.php\/kilruane-prove-too-good-for-eire-og-in-under-21-semi-final\/","title":{"rendered":"Kilruane prove just too good for \u00c9ire \u00d3g in under-21 semi-final"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p>Nenagh \u00c9ire \u00d3g\u2019s hurling year came to a close in Borrisokane on Sunday afternoon when the Blues suffered a 12-point under-21A semi-final defeat to defending champions Kilruane MacDonagh\u2019s.<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\n<strong>Walsh&#8217;s of Nenagh North Tipperary<br \/>\nUnder-21A Hurling Championship Semi-Final<br \/>\nNenagh \u00c9ire \u00d3g 0-10 Kilruane MacDonagh&#8217;s 0-22<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Nenagh \u00c9ire \u00d3g\u2019s hurling year came to a close in Borrisokane on Sunday afternoon when the Blues suffered a 12-point under-21A semi-final defeat to defending champions Kilruane MacDonagh\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p>\u00c9ire \u00d3g took the lead thanks to a Donnacha Quinn free in the second minute, but Kilruane dominated thereafter scoring ten points without reply to lead 0-10 to 0-1 by the 23rd minute &#8211; fortunately for Nenagh goalkeeper Kevin Flynn also made a fine save to deny Niall O\u2019Meara a goal in the 21st minute.<\/p>\n<p>Donnacha Quinn converted a second free in the 25th minute, but \u00c9ire \u00d3g failed to score from play in the opening half and Kilruane retired at the interval nursing a 0-11 to 0-2 lead.<\/p>\n<p>Two minutes into the second half Kevin Flynn saved a stinging Thomas Cleary shot before a Donnacha Quinn free left eight between them in the 35th minute (0-3 to 0-11).<\/p>\n<p>Corner-back Conor Ryan scored \u00c9ire \u00d3g\u2019s first point from play in the 39th minute and although David Hickey added to the Blues\u2019 tally four minutes later Kilruane led 0-16 to 0-5 with a quarter of an hour to play.<\/p>\n<p>Points from Andrew Coffey, Bob O\u2019Brien and David Hickey (two) left ten between them (0-9 to 0-19) with time fast running out, but to their credit Kilruane fired over three injury time points before \u00c9ire \u00d3g\u2019s John Cahalan enjoyed the final say in the matter.<\/p>\n<p>Sadly, \u00c9ire \u00d3g\u2019s search for a north Tipperary under-21A hurling title now stretches back to 1994.
