2011 has been a year of Historic achievement for the players of the club. The club had two excellent end of year presentation nights over the last two weeks. The Juveniles and the Junior B team were rewarded for their years achievements in the Abbey Court recently when the County Final u 12 A medals were presented to the team making it the clubs first A trophy and the Junior B team also created Club History when they picked up their Munster Junior B winners medals the first Adult competition win for the club.

The club also presented special trophies to Cíara McGrath ( who won All Ireland minor medal and was first Nenagh Eire Og Camogie club player to play senior Camogie for the County) Alanna Morris and Aileen Duggan were also presented awards from the club for winning U16 Munster and All Ireland medals. The three Girls then picked up their medals at a wonderful Tipperary Camogie presentation night at the Templemore Arms with Liz Howard doing a great job as M.C for the night.

These girls have the honour of being the first players from the club to win a Senior A Munster championship.

The club would like to thank County chairman Joe Cahill for taking time out from his busy schedule to present the medals at our presentation night and to Gerry Dullea for his wonderful leadership with the St Marys teams. 2011 was indeed a historic year for the club.
U12 Sponsorship by Sheedys Centra....

Our Junior B’s opened their league campaign on Good Friday against Knockshegowna in Ballingarry. This was the third year we entered the Junior B league and this game marked another small milestone as we recorded our first ever league win defeating the hosts 2-08 to 3-00. From here we played Portroe in Nenagh and after an epic two point victory we qualified for the league semi final where we were drawn against Silvermines in The Ragg.
Last year we played The Mines in Dolla in a league game and they defeated us by over forty points. This year the girls were determined to show how far we have come and we put up a brave fight against our more experienced opponents. With ten minutes remaining there was very little to separate the teams but with our legs becoming weary the Silvermines opened up the gap and won the game. The Nenagh girls had given it everything they had and were cheered off the field by our small but loyal band of supporters who appreciated and acknowledged the efforts the players had made both during the match and over the previous year to close the gap on our more illustrious opponents.
From here it was onto the Munster Junior League where after games against Tulla and Eire Og Ennis of Clare as well as St Vincents of Cork City we qualified for the plate semi final. We played Kilmallock and after an epic encounter the sides were deadlocked. The replay was in Nenagh and again there was nothing between the teams. With two minutes of normal time remaining, Aileen Duggan after some fantastic work by Louise Hickey, out by the corner flag put the ball over the bar in what appeared to most people to be in slow motion!! The girls defended as if their lives depended on it and somehow managed to hold out for a great one point victory.
The final was against Kilkishen of Clare in our own MacDonagh Park. In the first half Gemma Morris and Aileen Duggan, from a penalty, raised the green flag. The Clare girls came back at us with everything they had and for a period it looked as if the spoils were going to cross the Shannon. The inspired move of bringing Ciara McGrath back as an extra half back shored up our defence and closed out the Clare attack. We held out for a famous 2-05 to 3-00 win. Captain Mary Dillon had the honour of becoming the first Nenagh Eire Og player to lift silverware at adult camogie. The players all remarked afterwards at the fantastic local support which played a huge role in our victory. Thanks to the Eire Og hurling club for all they did for us on the night.
After the celebrations had died down we had to focus on the Junior B championship. Our first game was against St Cronins, Roscrea which ended in a draw. Entering injury time we were five points down and all looked lost but our girls simply never know when they are beaten. With the help of Brenda O Sullivan and Judy Mulqueen we somehow managed to level the game.
Next up was Newport and this turned out to be a fantastic encounter. Unfortunately we were defeated and as a result we had to play St Cronins again in a playoff. This game took place in Toomevara and our girls delivered their greatest performance to date. With a determination and skill level hitherto unseen we blew our opponents away with a display that had our supporters smiling from ear to ear.
We qualified for the county quarter final against Borrisleigh and against more experienced opponents we again acquitted ourselves very well. Unfortunately despite some fantastic moments we fell short in the end. However not everything is about winning and this team has improved beyond recognition in the last twelve months. They show up to training with a smile on their face and play with a determination that is an example to teams the world over. They got their just rewards last Summer when they became the first team from the club to win a trophy in adult camogie. Thanks to the panel of players and their coaches for all their efforts this year.
Last Spring everyone in the entire club received a massive boost when word filtered through that Ciara McGrath had been called up to the Tipperary senior panel. Just when we thought things couldn’t get any better we learned that Ciara came on as a second half substitute in the league match against Dublin and scored a fantastic point from an acute angle. Ciara achievements have entered her into the history books by becoming the first player from Nenagh Eire Og to represent Tipperary at senior camogie.
Not satisfied with creating this little piece of history Ciara went on to play a major role in Tipperarys successful quest to win the All Ireland Under Eighteen title after a fantastic one point victory over great rivals Kilkenny. On top of this Alanna Morris and Aileen Duggan were part of the Tipperary panel that won the All Ireland Under Sixteen title again against The Cats. Alanna stared at corner back all through the campaign and acquitted herself extremely well at this level.
The girls achievements with Tipperary is very important to us within the club as it shows all our hard work is paying off and as a club we are heading in the right direction. For such a young club to be producing All Ireland winning talent is a fantastic endorsement of everything we are doing. Everyone in the club is extremely proud of the three girls achievements and they have raised the bar for those to follow. Well done girls.
Summary of 2011 for Nenagh Eire Og Camogie club.
2011 was another successful year in the relatively short history of the club. The club has now 160 members with the vast majority of them being playing members. Our growing numbers of u 8s and u 10s have enjoyed a great year of learning the skills of Camogie and gaining friendships from different nationalities in the community that is Nenagh Eire Og Camogie club. They continue to improve and enjoy themselves under expert tuition in a controlled and safe environment.
Our u 12s had two very competitive teams and they had a very good year with the A team winning the A county final against Newport. It is a very well balanced team with stars on every line. There was a lot of work done during the year and it paid off with the county final win.
The u 14s had the heartbreak of losing two county finals in the A division this year. This takes it to four county finals in two years, coming out of last years B competition it was quite an achievement to qualify for both county finals again this year this time at A level .As a club we need to kick on and turn around these narrow defeats into victories.
The U 15s got to the County A semi final and lost out after an epic battle against a very experienced Toomevara team. This team has plenty of ability and will be the cornerstone of the clubs drive forward to contest A competitions at Minor level in years to come.
U16s lost out at County B semi final stage to a wonderful Cahir team after giving their all throughout the year. Like the u 15s they will provide forward thrust into contesting Minor A competitions in years to come
Our Minors had a tough year at B grade but it was a learning experience for this very young team
Our Junior B team won the Munster plate final and lost out to a very experienced Borrisoleigh team in the county Quarter Final. It was a historic year for this team who won the clubs first ever adult competition against Kilishen of Clare. After a wonderful game Nenagh won out 2-05 to 3-0 .Team Captain Mary Dillo lifted the clubs first adult Trophy to scenes of absolute joy in the home ground of Mac Donagh park. This team has been the driving force for the club because they had to suffer terrible defeats over the years because of their inexperience. They never dropped their heads and continued on the slow and sometimes painful path of gaining experience from every defeat and using it to their advantage. They are a perfect example of patience and dedication to their cause, which was to get their day in the sun which they grasped firmly with both hands.
St Marys Convent Nenagh who is an important part of the clubs production line won the u 11 and u 13 A Cumhann Na mBunscoil finals and St Marys Secondary school won the senior A league with an ever growing number of Nenagh Eire Og team members.
The club had an increasing presence on Tipperary Panels throughout the year. Hazel McAuliffe and Maeve Coffey represented their schools in the Primary Games. Grace O Brien Michelle Collins and Rachel Maher represented the club at u 14 level. Alanna Morris Holly O Brien and Aileen Duggan represented the club at u 16 level while Ciara McGrath represented the club at Minor Intermediate and Senior levels.
Alanna Morris and Aileen Duggan won Munster and All Ireland honours with the Tipperary u 16 team while Ciara McGrath won an All Ireland medal with the Tipperary Minors. These All Ireland Medals are the first three All Ireland medals won by Nenagh Eire Og club players while Ciara McGrath represented a club from Nenagh on the Tipperary Senior for the first time in 50 Years.
We would like to thank all our committee and team managers and coaches for their hard work during the year, our sponsors who keep us in the beautiful gear that we wear, the Tipperary Management who have faith in our players the County Board for doing a magnificent job this year The Referees for keeping the show on the road the Schools who train our players to better levels of expertise Nenagh C.B.S for use of their grounds and of course our partners Nenagh Eire Og who like a big brother to us and last but not least the MacDonagh park committee who keep the pitches in order.
A special appeal to anyone that has any video d.v.d coverage of any Nenagh Eire Og Camogie ganes or presentations or photographs as we are in the process of collecting and saving everything for future Historians of the club. Please contact Enda at 083 334337
Weekly Notes 10th October 2011
U 8s The u 8s held the Paige Corcoran tournament recently in Mac Donagh park Nenagh. It was a wonderful tournament full of skill and effort from all the players involved. The tournament consisted of Nenagh Eire-og, Shannon Rovers, Toomevara and Killadangan. The tournament was won out by a very well coached Shannon Rovers team beating a gallant Nenagh side in the final, well done to them. We would like to thank all those that brought food and helped on the day. These people made it fantastic occasion for all involved in memory of a beautiful young girl. The U8’s had their end of season party last Friday in Jumpnjims. Thanks to Cora Collins for her help with the party.
U12’s The U12 C and A teams have been busy over the last 2 weeks, the C’s lost their semi final against Ballingarry after a titanic struggle. They have improved with every game and are a credit to the club. The U12a team defeated Toomevara to reach the County semi final against Thurles. The semi final was played last Sunday in the Ragg and Nenagh won the game convincingly. They now play Newport in the Ragg next Saturday. Newport will be very strong opponents and it will be a classic A final befitting all the hard work put in by both squads.
U 15s The u 15s lost their County A semi final against Toomevara. The game was a great indication of where we are as a club sharing a platform with such a great club like Toomevara in a county A semi Final. The game provided great excitement for both sets of fans with both teams going at it hammer and thongs for the full hour. At half time there was only 1 point in it with Toomevara winning 1-03 to 1-02. Toomevara showed their greater experience in the second half by scoring points from long distance while Nenagh were working very hard to make scores. The game ended with Toomevara winning 2-10 to 3-04 and both teams emptied themselves on the field for their respective teams. The best of luck to Toomevara in the final. Nenagh Scorers G O Brien 1-03 A Morris 1-0 M Collins 1-0 S O Connor 0-1
The Junior b Team bowed out of the county with a defeat in the Quarter Final against a very experienced Borrisoleigh team The gap in experience between both teams was too wide for Nenagh to bridge no matter how they tried. It has been a great year of experience for the team and management which saw captain Mary Dillon lift the Munster plate earlier in the year . They are on the correct path which every defeat is turned into a positive lesson for them while they bridge the gap of experience which will come in the future. Well done to all for the great season that they had.
Weekly Notes 26th September 2011
U8s The u 8s played a game against Burgess last Saturday in Kilcolman. It was a very enjoyable game for all the team who are improving all the time and are making great friends. It was all the more enjoyable for them when they saw the feast provided for them by Burgess. Well done to all. We will be having our own 4 team Blitz next Saturday in MacDonagh park and we would like to encourage parents to bring food for the feast afterwards which is an important part of the day for the teams and parents.
U10s The u 10s travelled to play Shannon Rovers recently and both teams served up a feast of dedication and skill. Nenagh are improving with every game which shows their dedication to their training and ability to listen to their coaches. It is hoped that their will be one further blitz for them before the end of the season. Both the u 8s and u 10s will end the season with their annual parties.
U12s The u 12s have two teams who have been playing a number of games over the last two weeks. They have trained long and hard for the season and are bearing the fruits of the preparation with great displays over the last fortnight from all the members of the two teams. The future is very bright for the club with such an array of talent on and off the pitch.
U14s The u 14s lost the A county final against Drom recently. It was a final of great quality and Drom to be fair deserved their win. The Nenagh team gave everything they had and left nothing on the pitch and we are very proud of them for that and also the huge efforts they have put in over the year with their great coaches. This is merely a bump on the road for this team who will achieve greatness if they stay committed to Camogie and the club. Final Result Nenagh Eire Og 1-06 Drom and Inch 4-06
U15s The u 15s are due to play Toomevara in the County semi final This Saturday. Please come out in large numbers to support this team
Junior B The Junior B team gave us all a perfect antidote to the disappointing loss by the Nenagh Eire Og senior team early on Saturday evening when they put St Cronins of Roscrea away with a convincing 3-10 to 2-02 win.. Those of us that made the Trip to Toomevara after the trip from Semple Stadium did so with heavy hearts. This Junior b team lifted us all out of our gloom with what could only be called a perfect display. I have written many accolades to this team but they continue to astonish me with their dedication to their club with huge displays from a team that are not the most talented in the world but improve with every game and work as a unit and get every ounce of ability out of their bodies. There is no one leader on this team as they are all leaders who chip in to get the best out of themselves when it matters. The mentors have also to take credit for their team selection which was very well balanced. From Laura McKenna in goals who had to be very alert a number of times to Alice Darcy who showed her true class to Mary Dillon who did an amazing marking job On St Cronins main player to Rebecca White who caugh ball after ball in Midfield to Loiuse Hickey who is displaying all the attributes of a human Dynamo to Gemma Morris who chipped in with 2 great goals. They now play Borrisoleigh in the quarter final next Saturday in the Ragg at 3.30. Weekly Notes 12th September 2011
U14: The u 14 team had a great win in the u 14 A County semi final last week against Toomevara. The game lived up to its billing with both teams providing the large crowd with a hugely entertaining game. Toomevara started the game with more purpose and they went two points to nil up before Nenaghs Grace O Brien rocked Toomevara with a goal and a point. The game then opened up with great scores from both sides in a hugely skilful game. The half time score was 2 -5 to Nenagh to Toomevaras 1 06. The second half couldn’t have been more different with plenty of hold ups and injuries in a game of attrition. Both teams only registered a point each in the second half which wasn’t helped with the fading light making the game a lottery for both sets of players. This was a great victory for the Nenagh team who have put in a huge amount of work with their dedicated management team. In fact the transformation of the team has been significant. They now play either Drom/Inch in the county Final Scorers G O Brien 1-03 S O Connor 1-01 E Slattery 0-1 R Spillane 0-1
U16: The u 16 team lost out to a wonderful Cahir team in the county B semi final recently in the Ragg. They competed very well in the first half going in 1-04 to 1-01 down. In the second half the superior Cahir fitness took over and despite a great effort from Nenagh they lost heavily despite hitting the post 3 times. It is a young team with most of them underage again next year and the experience will stand to them. Scorers H O Brien 1-0 G O Brien 0-2 L Maher 0-1 C O Brien 0-1
U18s: The u 18s lost out to a very experienced Moneygall team last week in their first game at this level. It will be a learning experience for the team but they will compete very well as is their nature. Scorers C McGrath 1-02 A Morris 0-1. Next up was Kilruane in Nenagh last week in McDonagh Park and the team really fronted up against a very experienced Kilruane team. We have to remember that this is only our second year competing at u 18 level and it was always going to be tough but this team is full of spirit and courage and constantly defy their age limitations. The team competed very well in every line of the pitch and gave what could only be called a heroic performance which will stand to them in future seasons. Kilruane ran out winners in the end as their experience and age stood out. U 10s. The u 10s played in a county Go Games Blitz in Nenagh last Saturday. The Nenagh team played four very enjoyable games in which all of the panel fully participated in the Blitz true to the spirit of the Go Games which is designed to bring all players on at the same level and of course also to ensure that they get both enjoyment and recreation from their time at the club under the guidance of their coaches. Of course we couldn’t hold any of these blitzes without the assistance of the parents to who we are very great full for making the days hugely successful. Training continues Tuesdays and Fridays from 5.30 to 6.30
U 14s. Toomevara will be their opponents in the County League Semi Final
U16s The u 16s exited the county championship at the semi final stage against a very strong Cahir side. There was very little between them at half time but Cahir pulled away in the early part of the second half with Nenagh coming back strong in the last quarter hitting the post 3 times in succession. It wasn’t to be their day but they will be better for their efforts. This team who for the most part are underage again next year will learn from this season and will use that knowledge for next years campaign. They have improved as a team through the year and if they stay together and work hard they should be strong contenders for next seasons championship. Most of the panel will be on duty for the u 15 team who will be playing Toomevara in the League County semi final in September.

Junior B After the Munster Final plate success it was down to earth for them on Sunday when they drew 4-06 to 5-03 with St Cronins Roscrea in a hugely exciting game in McDonagh park on Sunday in the Junior B league. Nenagh were 5 points down going into injury time but they showed great resilience to score 1-02 to draw the game at the last minute. They were rattled by a very committed St Cronins team and they took some time to come to grips with the skill of the opposition. But this team is a team that figures things out and they kept at it to the end. Nenagh win Munster Junior B camogie Final.
Nenagh Eire Og 2-05 Kilkishen (Clare) 3-0
Last Friday night Nenagh Eire Og Camogie club won their first Adult camogie silverware when they won the Munster Plate final in Mc Donagh park Nenagh last Friday night against Kilkishen of Clare.
Watched by a large crowd of supporters Nenagh took control of the game straight from the throw in launching attack after attack and smothering Kilkishen with great defensive play from the whole backline. Nenagh with Tipperary minor Cíara McGrath operating at full forward tormented the Kilkishen full back line and were rewarded with their early pressure with a well taken goal by Gemma Morris who waltzed through the Kilkishen defense and unleashed an unstoppable shot to the net to put Nenagh ahead. The midfield pairing of Aileen Duggan and Rebecca White cleaned up everything in their sector and used their dominance to feed the busy Nenagh forward line. The direct play of centre forward Danielle Harrington opened up Kilkishen several times in the first half. The only way that they could stop her was to foul her and one of the fouls led to a penalty which player of the Match and Tipperary u 16 star Aileen Duggan blasted to the net. Further points from Niamh Costello0-1 and Aileen Duggan 0-2 put Nenagh ahead 2-04 to 0-0 at half time.
There was bound to be a kick left in Kilkishien and they came at Nenagh with determination in the second half scoring two early goals which put huge pressure on the home team. The management on the sideline of were up to the task making match winning changes by bringing Louise Hickey to Mid Field and putting Cíara McGrath in between the half back line and the full back line. Louise Hickey played the game of her life and she was involved in stemming the tide of Kilkishen attacks in the second half. The full back line of Donna Mitchell Alice Darcy and Claire Collins were outstanding all year and this game was no different where they closely marked the experienced Kilksihen full forward line. Captain Mary Dillon was superb throughout and she was aided by her half back colleagues Sarah Maher and Steffi Browne. Of course Goalkeeper Laura McKennas heroics was responsible for Nenagh reaching the Final. Even Though Kilkishen scored another goal Aileen Duggan settled nerves by scoring a point from a free to leave the scoreline at the end 2-05 to 3-0 marking a historic day for the club and launching huge celebrations. Mary Dillon put the victory in context when she said that it was the first thing that she had won since an u 12 blitz. This team and management deserve huge praise for putting in a huge effort when every one had written them off at the start of the year. They epitomize a spirit in the club which is admirable but this group of players are special because they have put in huge effort to make themselves credible and it is a lesson to any team that hard work pays off. The club would like to thank Enda Costello and Enda O Sullivan the management team and Ger Morris Hugh Flannery Greg Browne and Derek Lillis for their help also.

Weekly Notes 25th July 2011
U 8 s The go games will be held in the month of August. All players are reminded that training is every Tuesday from 5.30 to 6.30
U10s The u 10s ran a very successful blitz on July 2nd. We had very enjoyable games against Burgess and Toomevara which has helped to bring on the skill levels and confidence of the players. The u 10s then travelled to Dundrum for the Knockavilla Kickhams annual blitz where we defeated Cashel and Boherlahan before eventually succumbing to Annacarthy in the semi final. The club would like to thank the parents and mentors that travelled . It was a great day out for the girls which they enjoyed thoroughly. Training continues on Tuesdays and Fridays from 5.30 to 6.30 to get the team ready for the County Go Games blitz during August and September we will release more details when we receive them.
U 12s The u 12 team had a very good run out against Tommevara last week. It was a good chance for the whole panel to get an opportunity to improve their skills against good opposition. It was also a chance for the team to show off their new kit provided by Sheedys Centra to whom we are eternally grateful. The team is shaping up nicely for the forthcoming championship. Training continues on Tuesdays and Fridays from 5.15 to 6.30
U15s. The u 15s played Drom/Inch in the league last week in the Ragg and ended up losing a well contested game. It was a game that we probably should have won if we had taken all of our chances. We lost the game 2-5 to 2-3 but the story of the game was the amount of chances that we missed in the game. They competed very well although and this is a team that has great potential. U 16s The u 16s played a challenge match last Sunday against Portroe and won the game convincingly against a weakened Portroe side. Nenagh played well and took their scores when they came so they will be happy with the workout with all players getting much needed match time. Indeed one of the players refused to go on holidays with her parents to be available for this friendly such was her dedication to her team mates. The Junior b team defeated Kilmallock in Nenagh last week in the Munster Plate semi final replay with the slenderest of margins winning 2-07 to 2-06 Aileen Duggan scoring the winning point right at the end of the game. Like the first game it was a keenly contested game with very little between the teams. Jessica Maher and Roisin O Brien continued their great goal scoring form with a goal each in this game. Indeed Kilmallock had one last chance to win the game but Laura McKenna had other ideas pulling off a great save which ended the Limerick teams hopes. Team L McKenna C O Connor A Darcy M Dillon D Mitchell C Collins B White R White S Browne S Maher A Duggan N Costello D Harrington G Morris R O Brien J Maher L Hickey J Mulqueen M Burns C McGrath Of course as in the great tradition in Camogie the players brought refreshments to share with the opposition afterwards. The final is next Friday night in Nenagh at 7 o clock against Kilkishen of Clare. This is the first Senior final of the club so we would like to make this a big occasion for the players who deserve to be fussed over. We would encourage a huge crowd to turn out to support them and bring flags and banners to add to the colour of the occasion. We would like to thank Nenagh Creidt Union for their recent sponsorship of a set of Jerseys for this team.
The club would like to Congratulate Cíara McGrath who won an All Ireland medal last Sunday with the Tipperary Minor team. They defeated Kilkenny by 1 point with a 4-4 to 2-9 score line. It was a remarkable victory given that the team were 9 points down at half time. To turn around such a score line against such quality opposition was quite a feat and was a great compliment to the management skills of the Management team . This medal is well deserved for Cíara who lost out on a medal last year in the u 16 All Ireland final . She has represented Tipperary this year at Minor Intermediate and Senior and she is a great asset to her Club and County playing no matter what grade she is asked to play whether it be a Junior B match for her club or Tipperary Senior for her county.
That makes it 3 All Ireland medals in the club this year which of course is a great compliment to the strides that the club has taken since inception.
Weekly Notes 18th July 2011
The exams are over so there will be a return to the busy schedule of competitions for the club but it has also been a busy week for the County Teams who have continued to enjoy successes at under age level.
Maeve Coffey Hazel McAuliffe represented their schools in the Primary Game
Michelle Collins Grace O Brien Rachel Maher have worn the u 14 Tipperary jersey with pride this year and continue to improve coming up the Orla Mc Donagh tournament in August
Aileen Duggan Alanna Morris and Holly O Brien have worn the Tipperary u16 Jersey with pride culminating with the u16s Winning the All Ireland Final and last week clinching the double by Winning the Munster final last week in the Ragg with a nine point win over Clare2-15 to 3-3
Ciara McGrath is a busy woman wearing the Tipperary Minor Intermediate and Senior jersey this year. Last week alone she scored 1-1 in the Minor All Ireland semi final against Clare with Tipperary squeezing through with a 3-9 to 1-14 score line. Then on Saturday playing for the intermediate team she scored 1 point but unfortunately in a defeat to Derry in Ashbourne.

The club would like to thank the management of all these teams for their time and effort in looking after these squads and to the county board for financing the teams through various fundraisers which need to be supported.
Nenagh Eire Og u 16s qualified for the next round of the u16 with a win recently against Silvermines. It will take a huge improvement if we are to progress further in this competition against Kilruane or Moneygall.
The u 14s had to wait for a game with both Burgess and Thurles conceding the games against us. Last Wednesday they played Drom/ Inch and they came out of a great game with a 5-5 to 3-6 win . The Junior B team have competed extremely well in the first Munster League and in their last game narrowly lost to Ennis in Ennis after a few home town decisions . They then travelled to Kilmallock to play the home team in the Munster plate semi final. It turned out to be a wonderful game with both sides evenly matched both on the scoreboard and on the field of play. Nenagh opened brightly and Roisin O Brien after receiving a hand pass from Aileen Duggan unleashed a bullet from thirty yards into the back of the net for as good a goal as you would see. At half time Nenagh Eire Og led 1-03 to 0-2 with the aid of a stiff breeze. The second half Kilmallock upped their game and raced into a two point lead early in the second half. Danielle Harrington replied with a well taken point. Laura McKenna was inspiritational in the Nenagh goal seeing off attack after attack aided by Donna Mitchell Claire Collins Mary Dillon and Alice Darcy. After intense pressure Nenagh managed to salvage a draw and a replay on home territory in McDonagh park Monday 25th July at 7 o clock. This team deserves a huge crowd to turn up to support them for their fantastic efforts already this year. Camogie lost two great advocates last week with the tragic deaths of Gerry Slevin and Mikey Browne. Both men worked very hard to place Camogie where it deserves to be in Tipperary, on an equal footing with Hurling. Both men aided with amazing Camogie clubs and volunteers up and down the county have seen the quality of coaching and competitions improve out of sight.Under their gentle guidance Gerry using his media skills and contacts to ease Camogie into the minds of naysayers as a sport deserving of equality. Mikey used his skill to help his beloved Cashel to club titles and not sitting on his laurels he became County Chairman driving on the success of the game in Tipperary. They were helped of course by a wonderful bunch of players under the guidance of 5 time All Star Michael Cleary when they won a number of All Irelands. Both men go on to join the wonderful Biddy Phillips but their efforts will reap rewards for decades to come. May they rest in peace.
Weekly Notes 20th June 2011
The u 12s played a very successful go games blitz in Kilcoleman on Saturday. They continue to improve and are competing very intensely in all games. Thanks to all involved in making the Go Games work so well.
The Junior Bs had two Munster league games over the last two weeks against Tulla (Clare) and St Vincents (Cork). Despite being seriously depleted and having no more than the bare team they competed extraordinarily well against very experienced opposition. Both games were worth their weight in gold in terms of experience and the Hurling skills of the team are improving with every game. The team also got to wear their new set of Jerseys sponsored by Nenagh Credit Union. The team took the long bus trip to Cork last Friday and were very well looked after by the St Vincents team afterwards. Huge respect must go to the team for competing so well against the odds. Next Friday they travel to Ennis to play Eire Og Ennis at 8 o clock and support would be very much appreciated. Thank You also to Kathleen Clarke for looking after the First Aid for the team. Team Laura McKenna Claire Collins Donna Mitchell Catriona O Connor Sarah Maher Alice Darcy Mikaella Gleeson Rebecca White Mary Dillon Gemma Morris Danielle Harrington Niamh Costello Jessica Maher Rosin O Brien Louise Hickey.
The club had a sponsored walk on Sunday morning and would ask that all sponsorship cards be handed back this week.
Congratulations to St Marys Nenagh for winning the Cumann Na Mbunscol u 11 and u 13 a County finals last week in Thurles. The hard work being put in by Suzanne Kelly and Tommy Mulcahy in the school will reflect well on our club with plenty of new well coached recruits. We thank the school for this and look forward to a fruitful relationship. We would also like to thank the Cumann Na mBunscol committee for putting together two days of fantastic finals in Semple Stadium. The much maligned school staff have shown that the fruits of their unpaid labour is well received by the Children Parents and clubs.
Congratulations to Maeve Coffey who played for Tipperary on Sunday in the Primary games against Clare in the Gaelic Grounds.
Weekly Notes 6th June 2011
The u 8s and the u 10s have played a number of friendlies over the last few weeks in Newport and Burgess. They enjoyed the games very much so thank both clubs very much for the invitations. Both the U8S AND THE U10S are very open to new members.
The u 14s lost narrowly in the county final against a very committed Kliruane team in the Ragg camogie field. Nenagh Eire Og had gone 4 points up with 7 minutes left but Kilruane showed their fighting spirit to power their way iinto the lead at the end. It was a devastating loss for the Nenagh Eire og ladies but one which will be a lesson for them into the future. Former Nenagh Eire Og player Leanne Kelly was the hero for Kilruane with 3 goals. We would like to congratulate Kliruane on their fine win on the night. Final score Nenagh Eire Og 1-10 Kilruane 4-3
The community games team made up mostly of the u 14 team had a heartbreaking defeat to a very strong Cahir team on Monday with a goal at the death after the team dragged themselves back into the game in the second half turning around a huge deficit to draw the game until the last puck fo the game. It was a huge effort by the Nenagh Eire Og team with Rachel Maher giving an outstanding performance from the backline. They finally lsot out on a score line of 3-7 to 4-1. Well done to all it has been a tough few weeks but we will have more good days than bad days with this bunch of ladies.
The u 16s had a narrow loss in the championship against Kilruane in Ardcroney. It was a fiercely contested game with both sets of players giving their all. It was a game which both teams needed to win to qualify from a tight group. Kilruane proved to be physically stronger on the night. Nenagh now need to beat a strong Silvermines team to get into a position for a play off for the semi Finals. The club would also like to wish Pat Williams father of Kilriuane u 16 mentor Thomas Williams a speedy recovery from his recent illness.
The junior b team play Tulla from Clare at home this weekend in the Junior league. They have also drawn Eire Og of Ennis and St Vincents of Cork in a tough group. It will be a learning experience for this very young team and one in which they will enjoy.
The club would like to wish all our members who are doing exams the very best of luck.

U 14s The under 14s qualified for the county final with a hard fought victory against Moneygall last Wednesday in the Ragg. The first half was a very keenly contested game with Moneygall dominant in the first quarter. In fact Moneygall opened the scoring with a well taken point. Nenagh were finding it hard to get scores but Michelle Collins and Aislinn O Brien in mid field began to take control of mid field in the second quarter and they never relinquished that control. Michelle Collins score the eqaulising point for Nenagh and soon after Sarah O Connor gave Nenagh the lead with a great point on the turn. The half time score was 2 to 1 to Nenagh. The second half saw Nenagh take control through Rachel Maher who gave a masterful display from Centre back who chipped in with two long range points. Nenagh now had control of mid field and the half back line and launched ball after ball into the forwards which were turned into scores by Elaine Slattery 1-1 Michelle Collins 0-2 Mairead Sheridan 0-1 to make the final scoreline 1-8 to 0-1. The scoreling may have been a little flattering for this hardworking Nenagh Team but Money gall through to their great Camogie Tradition fought for every ball right until the end. Nenagh now play Kilruane in the final with Kliruane strong favorites for the title. Junior b team played two games in the last week. The first being a challenge game against Borrisoleigh in Nenagh last Wednesday. Borrisoleigh won by 3 points in a great preparation game for Nenagh before their semi final game against the Silvermines. Thank you to Borrisoleigh for the game and to Christy McLoughlin for giving up his time to referee the contest. On Sunday we played our first semi final at this level against a very Experience Silvermines outfit in the Ragg. The team put up a great performance and keft everything on the pitch. Unfortunately Silvermines came out on to with a 4-05 to 0-05 scoreline. The scoreline certainly didn’t reflect the huge effort put into the game from this very young squad and it augers well for the club to have a team of such great commitment against such huge odds. They still have plenty to play for this season with the Munster league and Championship to look forward to. Nenagh u 16s played their first Championship game against Moneygall on Sunday in McDonagh Park. It was a repeat of last years county final which Nenagh won in extra time and it proved to be a ferociously contested game with both sides giving their all for their team. The game was full of skill and determination from two young teams. Moneygall had the aid of a strong breeze in the first half and it looked like Nenagh were going to hold them out but Moneygall were first to score when they registered a point from long range and they soon followed with a goal from a tight angle. Nenagh responded in great fashion when Nenagh Mid fielder Alanna Morris cleverly fed Shannon Moran who lashing in a great goal from Twenty yards to make the score 1-1 to 1-0 at half time to Moneygall.
The second half was a more open game with both sides creating many chances and it was Moneygall who stretched their lead with a well taken goal.. Nenagh never gave up and Rachel Maher and Aileen Duggan dominated the second half added to the fact that Michelle Collins and Alanna Morris were just about getting on top in Mid Field and both girls scored two points each in the second half . The Nenagh forwards were working very hard to stop the Moneygall defense from making clearances and Aine Long was rewarded for her hard work when she blocked down the Moneygall goalkeeper on the line which resulted in a goal. Grace O Brien put the icing on the cake when she pointed a long distance free to make it 2-5 to 2-3 to Nenagh Eire Og. Ciara took it all in her stride when she came on in the second half and scored an excellent point in a 4-10 to 0-8 victory for Tipperary . Ciara is the first Nenagh Eire Og player to wear the Tipperary senior jersey and she is a credit to her family her club and her town. Ciara then went on to crown a fine weekend by performing very well at wing forward for the Tipperary Intermediate team in a drawn game against Waterford on Sunday.

This is another fantastic milestone in the short history of our camogie club and in the glittering career of a wonderful young player. To top this achievement Ciara then went on to score a great point. Ciara's achievements have surpassed all expectations and has set a very high benchmark for the entire club. On behalf of the entire club, congratulations Ciara and keep up the great work.

U10s The u 10s finished their season last Friday with a party in Funworld Limerick and a great night was had by all.
U14s The season has now come to an end but it was another good year for the u14s reaching two county finals winning one against Moneygall in the B league final. They lost only one competitive match in the whole season which was the championship county final against Thurles after a mammoth struggle. Four of the Girls played on the Tipperary under 14 County team (a thank you to our own Mike Ryan who was involved with the County Coaching team), while others played on the Tipperary primary school teams. The team next year will be strengthened by the fact that over half of this years team are young enough to play u 14 again next year added to our the flow of girls from our County final winning u 12 team. A big thank you to all the girls who trained very hard and listened attentively to their coaches who were Mike Ryan Liam McGrath Tony Slattery Philip Ryan Mairead Long and Denise Morris a big thank you to the coaching team who put in a huge effort with the team.
U 16s The under 16s finished the season on a high by winning the Cis Corcoran Tournament ( the late Cis Corcoran was known as the Queen of Kildare Camogie)in Naas without conceding a single score in 4 matches. Due to other commitments we traveled with a very young squad with only 4 u 16s with the rest of the panel made up of u14s and u12s. This did not deter the girls who defeated Naobh Fionbarra ( Dublin) O Loughlin Gaels ( Kilkenny) Dunderry ( Meath) and Naas in the final. This very young team gave away a lot in size but it was their skill levels that shone through scoring 27-10 in the four games and conceding nothing. Team captain Gemma Morris picked up the Cis Corcoran trophy for her team. We would like to thank Naas Camogie club for their hospitality and also Ger Morris Philip Ryan and Kathleen McKenna for giving up their time on Saturday to travel with the team. U 18s The u 18s played their second game of their season against Moneygall on Sunday in Moneygall and came away with a heavy defeat. Moneygall were just too experienced for this young Nenagh team who were playing in the clubs second ever Minor game. Moneygall ran out 3.12 to 1-5 winners. Nenagh never gave up and gave it their all right up to the final whistle and Laura McKenna in the Nenagh goals gave a fantastic performance. The club end of year celebration is on in the Abbey Court Hotel on Friday 22nd October at 9 pm. All trainers, players and their families are invited to attend. County medals will be presented to the u 12s and u 14s on the night.
The clubs flag day will be held next Saturday and Sunday 23 and 24 October. We will need help in manning the tables and we would encourage everyone to support our flag day as we cannot function and grow this great club without finances.

Nenagh Eire Og Camogie club played their first ever minor game last Sunday morning at McDonagh park in Nenagh. It is just another step along the way for a club moving up the ladder of experience. The opponents were Shannon Rovers who are a well established club. It was a game that was full of delightful skill and courage from both teams. Nenagh had to make do with the 15 players that turned up and by God did they play out of their skin led as usual by the Irrepressible Ciara McGrath at centre back ably assisted by Mary Dillon Dillon at full back Aileen Duggan at mid field and Danielle Harrington at Centre Forward. Nenagh competed well in all parts of the field and led 2-3 to 1-0 at half time. The second half again saw a huge battle between two committed teams but in the end Nenagh ran out winners 3-7 to 1-1. Nenagh forwards Julie Mulqueen Jessica Maher and Aileen Duggan were also denied goals with great saves from the Shannon Rovers goalkeeper. The club would like to congratulate Toomevara and Duharra on serving up a wonderful county final which Duharra won after extra time. Both teams would have put in huge efforts on the training fields to get to that level and it is something that we as a club can aspire to. We would also like to congratulate Noel Moloney as the winning manager.

The under 10s have been busy over the last 3 weeks playing blitzes in Ballina Kilruane and our home blitz last Sunday. The girls acquitted themselves very well in all blitzes and everyone came away having enjoyed themselves thanks to the generosity of the host clubs. It is activities like these that show the real community spirit of the G.A.A and it is recession proof. Our own blitz on Saturday attracted teams from Toomevara Burgess Riverstown Kilruane and Newport and it was well organized with great competition and fun. The Nenagh girls competed well winning all their games. We would like to thank the teams for traveling and the parents for helping with the food. The club would like to extend their condolences to the Browne family on their recent bereavement.

Weekly notes - 20th Sept 2010
The u 16s had a great win against Moneygall in Nenagh with a resounding 3-11 to 1-1 scoreline. The team carried on from the Silvermines win with a great team performance and they also showed the energy levels of a team that has put in a lot of hard work pre season. The scorers were G Morris 1-2 C McGrath 0-4 D Harrington 1-1 H O Brien 1-1 J Maher 0-1 A Morris 0-1 A Duggan 0-1 They then totally collapsed against a strong Kilruane team in Ardcroney losing 6-3 to 1-4 with the scorers being A Morris 0-4 C McGrath 1-0. Next up was the county semi final against Thurles in the Ragg last Monday week. This was a very entertaining game with a very high level of skill and determination shown from both teams. Thurles got off to a great start scoring 2-1 to Nenaghs 0-1 in the first half. The scoreline merely reflected the amount of saves by the Thurles goalkeeper who was having a huge say in the match time and time again she saved Thurles who were under severe pressure from a determined Nenagh side. The second half was all Nenagh pressure and they outscored Thurles 1-5 to 0-5 and should have scored more only for the Brilliance of the Thurles goalkeeper who could retire on a high such was her performance. In the end Nenagh threw everything at Thurles but fell just short to the eventual county champions. The girls fell just short but they had a great season where they trained very hard and showed that they are a team for the future where we will have more victories than defeats . Junior b had a losses away to Silvermines and at home to Newport and a win away against Cahir as they consolidate themselves as a team that is growing in confidence with each game. The last game against Newport proved that the team are relying on a group of girls that are full of enthusiasm but are just too young and Newport exposed that with their experience and psysichicality. The girls never gave up and fought until the end but one would have to wonder if it is fair to put such a young team up against such experience.
Well done to Mikey Heffernan Hugh Moloney and Paddy Murphy on their recent All Ireland successes we are proud of them.
The club would like to thank Duffys circus who made 200 tickets available through the Mayor Of Nenagh to the club. We had a great night out at the circus which was high quality entertainment we would encourage people to take time out to visit this event while it is in town.

The last two weeks saw one win and one loss each for the U16s and the Junior b teams.
U16s The u 16s had a great win against Moneygall in Nenagh with a resounding 3-11 to 1-1 scoreline. The loss can be turned into a positive if the Girls learn from it and use it to drive them on in a very tough semi final that awaits them next Tuesday in the Ragg at 6pm against a very strong Thurles team.

It has been a busy few weeks as the Children look forward to the return of school days. The U 8s played in a blitz in Toomevara last Saturday week which involved them playing Toomevara Burgess and Moneygall. The girls competed very well and thoroughly enjoyed the day. Well done to all and a big Thank you to the Toomevara club for the invite.

The U 10s were invited to the Dundrum blitz on 7th August and the Go Games in Holycross last Saturday week. The Girls played extremely well in both competitions and again they enjoyed themselves while competing. We would like to thank Knockavilla Kickhams and Siobhain Ryan for the invitations.
The u 16s Got their B championship off to a flying start with a great win away to the Silvermines in Dolla with the scoreline 2-10 to 3-1. It was an impressive start after a summer of hard training. They were led from the front by Captain fantastic Gemma Morris who finished with 1-02 points and Ciara McGrath who is a fantastic athlete. It was a good spread of scorers with six girls getting their name on the score sheet. This was a brilliant encounter and the whole panel chipped in with great performances. The Junior Bs made history by being our first adult team to win a championship game away against Moneygall. They had an emphatic 4-9 to 4-3 victory. They showed real guts and determination to grind out this win especially after not getting any breaks during the year. It shows that they have a great future if they keep believing in themselves. Congratulations to theTipperary U 14 camogie team who won the Orla McDonagh tournament in Thurles on Saturday with Alanna Morris and Rachel Maher representing Nenagh with Coleen O Brien and Zoey Gratton out injured. It was the end of a very frustrating year for a team who had a lot of mis haps with injuries and a few near misses during the year but Liza Carrol and her management team kept their cool and put faith in themselves to win this very important tournament. The final between Tipperary was played in Semple Stadium and the game befitted the theatre of dreams it was played in and indeed the wonderful young girl in whose memory the Tournament is played. Thank you again to the McDonagh family for their generous support.

We are coming to an end of the u12 and u 14 seasons and both teams have been moved up a grade for the league campaigns. The u 14s are competing in the b division and the u 12s are competing in the A Division. There is no doubt that as a club the A divisions are where we want to be competing but as a young club we have to be careful that we have a continuous supply of well coached players coming through that will be capable of competing in A divisions.
The u 12s played against Cahir last week in the A semi final. Cahir are the A championship winners so this was a huge challenge for the girls but it was one that they were up for. The team worked extremely hard as a unit and pressed Cahir everywhere on the pitch leading to openings for the Nenagh forwards particularly Grace O Brien who scored 1-4 adding to the superb goal from Ruth Spillane who has proven to be a great addition to the squad. The Nenagh backs and mid field were superb and worked in unison to snuff out this fancied Cahir team. The final score was 2-4 to 0-6 with Cahir only scoring 2 points from play. The final was against Toomevara who are a formidable Camogie club and one that we would aspire to be like. After a fantastic battle where backs dominant in each team Toomevara won the game by 5 pts to 2 pts. The girls were devastated but they can be proud of the mammoth effort the made for their team and club. Toomevara showed their experience by closing off our main scoring threat but again the rest of the team stepped up to the plate just falling sort at the end. It is a reminder to us all that Nenagh Eire Og as a club have now arrived at the A Stage in just 7 short years in existence. The hard work by all in the club past and present is now taking fruition and will further blossom in the future years . We would also like to thank the club members and volunteers who provided the tea and food after the game in the Complex. There was a wonderful display of food for the children and parents alike.

The u 14s had a very tough battle against Kilruane in the county semi final last week. This was as tough an encounter as you would expect from two near rivals that compete well with each other but also share great mutual respect. Only one point separated the two teams at half time with Nenagh leading 1-2 to 1-1. in the second half Nenagh finally got the upper hand and won out in the end 4-2 to 2-2 to set up a mouth watering county final against an experienced club in Moneygall. It will be a tough battle against a well established club but the Nenagh ladies will give it their all. We now play a fancied Moneygall team in the county final on Thursday in the Ragg. We desperately need all the support we can muster as the girls will need every advantage they can gain while playing against such an established club.
Congratulations to Ciara McGrath and the Tipperary u 16 team who won the Munster u 16 A final in Nenagh against Clare 5-09 to 0-06. The team showed great courage to bounce back after losing a fantastic All Ireland Final against Galway in Tullamore. We would like to thank the management team of Noelle Kennedy Timmy Maher Rory Kennedy Nora Dwan and Marianne Graham for the hard work and commitment for the year. With this team and management the future of Tipperary Camogie is secure.

The U10s traveled to Toomevara on Sunday and played four 10 minute games in which they acquitted themselves very well. They have made steady progress over the year.
We are entering into the second half of the season for the u 12s and the 14s with both of them stepping up a grade for their respective leagues.
The 12s played the clubs first A -game against the well established Burgess club in Nenagh and came out with strong 6-4 to 2-1 win. They then went out to Toomevara to play a strong Toomevara outfit and fell short 4-0 to 0-3 . This now puts Nenagh into the A county semi final to be played at a later date. To add to this and to show the strength in dept of the club the u12 B team had a great victory last week against Kickhams with a 1 goal to 0-0 win.
The u 14s have gone up to the B Division and they had their first outing against Clonoulty last Monday night and emerged with a comprehensive victory.
The U16s have been training really hard and will be ready for their championship when it starts shortly. They have played a number of friendly games and are chomping at the bit to get out in the field to play.
The Junior B also have kept themselves busy with training and friendly games.
Ciara McGrath and Alice Darcy did themselves and their club proud at the weekend when they played for Tipperary U16 teams against Cork
The club now have a deal with A Sportsmans Dream where anyone interested in purchasing club gear from tracksuits to replicas of our newly designed jersey can order them from the shop.

We would like to start off by wishing everyone that is sitting exams the very best of luck.
The under 10s took part in the Go Games organized by the county board in Thurles on Sunday. The girls adapted to the new rules and played very well. It was a most enjoyable day out for children parents and trainers.
The Nenagh trials for the Puc Fada were held in Nenagh on Friday with the result being Rachel Maher Alanna Morrris Catherine Sheridan and the top two going forward to represent the club in Tullamore at a future date.
We would like to congratulate St Marys Primary School on winning both the u11a and u13a Primary Schools County Finals in Semple Stadium last week. The u 13s and the u 11s had to dig deep against two teams from Cahir and the captains Rachel Maher ( u 13s) Maeve Coffey ( u 11s) were delighted to lift the winning trophies on behalf of their school. A special thanks to Peader, Suzanne and Tommy for all the hard work in coaching the teams.
Weekly notes -24th May 2010
It was another incident packed week in the life of a growing Camogie Club. If one was to measure success on winning and losing championships it was a bad week with the u 14s losing the county final to a very strong Thurles side on Monday night. But then there was the two fantastic victories by the thoroughly dedicated Junior B team over Borrisoleigh and Patrickswell during the week ending a run of losses for our most senior team( with mostly u 16s a peppered with ladies that have just recently picked up the Hurley after some time away from the game) and it also showed that a team that has endured losses has dug in a stayed focused on perfecting their skills which are now paying off and will continue to pay off. This is of course a lesson to us all that success in a club is about bringing all players along together and at the same time showing them the art of enjoying themselves collectively along the way. Another sign of the clubs growth was shown on a field with girls wearing a totally different shirt. The St Marys Secondary school Junior team under the expert guidance of Gerry Dullea won the plate final against Coláiste Chroist Rí in Charelville with a scoreline of 4-11 to 3-4. This team was captained by our own Ciara McGrath and in total Nenagh Eire Og Camogie club had 11 players on the panel.

A number of years ago no there was no Nenagh Eire Og club to provide players to the convent now hopefully we will have continuous presence.
The u 12s play their Final on Thursday night in the Ragg against a strong St Cronins Team we would appreciate as much support as possible for this dedicated bunch of girls.
The u 14s lost their final to a brilliant Thurles side last Monday night 4-4 to 1-1. The Thurles girls were worthy of their victory on the Night and it took resolute defending by the Nenagh Eire Og defense to keep the score line down to that level. It was a disappointment for the team on the night but we have to remember that Thurles were A grade while Nenagh came up from C grade so we have a small bit to go to bridge the gap but we wont stop until we are at that level. The club would like to thank the County board who have done a wonderful job with the fixtures this season and it is important that we acknowledge this. We would also like to thank the officials on the night and most importantly the huge support who traveled over to the game to offer their support. Of course we mustn’t forget the club officials and members who helped out with the food and drink afterwards in the complex.

The Junior Bs beat Portroe 5-4 to 4-3 and Patrickswell 0-6 To 1-0 during the week. The team have to be congratulated for their dedication to their team and all the hard work under Enda Costello and Enda O Sullivan. They now have a nice balanced team and a Goalkeeper Cora Collins who doesn’t bother with stopping and controlling the sliotar she just doubles on everything and skillfully clears back down the field without too much fuss.

U14’s - It was quite a busy week for the club with the U 14 Championship starting and what a start it proved to be. The opponents were Thurles in the Ragg last Monday. It was a superb game of hurling with no quarter asked for or given by either team. The Nenagh team are really taking shape under the guidance of the management team and they are obviously listening attentively to their coached. The game ended 4-4 apiece and everybody in attendance were in agreement that they had witnessed two sporting teams giving their all. On Wednesday we played Holycross in Nenagh and we had a comprehensive victory which sets us up nicely for the last game of the group against Clonoulty in Clonoulty on Sunday which again was won comprehensively leaving us in a semi final.
U12’s - The u 12s had a comprehensive victory against Kilruane on Thursday which makes it two wins out of two for them.Junior B - On Sunday the Junior B Team played against Kilruane and despite losing they again showed great improvement against a more established team.
Congratulations to Ciara McGrath and the Tipperary u 16 team on their fantastic victory over Kilkenny in the All Ireland semi final and congratulations to the Tipperary Camogie board for very successfully hosting the two All Ireland semi finals on Saturday. It was a very tough and physical battle which Tipperary won 0-13 to 1-04. Ciara McGrath chipped in 1pt in a good overall performance at wing forward. The Tipperary team and management have put in huge effort and it is clearly showing in their performances.

There has been a noticeable stepping up of activities as the championship season nears with a number of friendly games and the actual start of the Junior b championship.
The junior b will find the season tough for them as this is a huge step up for such a young club. This team is work in progress and the team needs to be patient and also enjoy their improvement along the way. The weekend before last saw a defeat away to Portroe 2-4 to 1-0 and last Sunday we were up against a strong Silvermines side who eventually won 11-9 to 3-2. The weekend saw a return to county action for 5 of our Girls. Alanna Morris Rachel Maher Zoey Gratton and Coleen O Brien acquitted themselves very well in Tipperary u 14 first outing on Saturday against a very well organized Cork Team and also on Saturday Ciara McGrath played very well at Wing Forward in a 1-12 to 0-9 win against a very physical Cork team at the Ragg. Both age groups are blessed to be so well coached and managed by their respective management teams which is a win win situation for the club giving the girls much needed experience at another level.
The club ran a very successful u 12 and u 14 blitz in the C.B.S grounds on Sunday. Teams from Newport Salt hill and Castle knock Joined Nenagh in a very competitive day of Hurling. Nenagh ran out overall winners in both age groups but winning wasn’t the main objective of the day. The day was a chance for managers to run the rule over all their panels and also to make new friends in the Glorious surroundings of the C.B.S I great weather. It is also a chance for all players to get a real chance to express themselves in a fair manner in less competitive competition. It was wonderful to see so many parents basking in the wonderful surroundings and watching such great Camogie players with great futures (there was also a few ex inter county players in attendance). Afterwards the team’s mentors and parents were looked after with a wonderful array of food and delicacies given free by the parents of the Nenagh Players in the C.B.S hall. The club would like to thank the C.B.S for the use of their wonderful facilities, the organizing committee ,the parents for their help the u 16 Girls from the club who did such a wonderful job of refereeing the games showing huge maturity beyond their years and DJ Mickey Mac for the disco afterwards.
The Junior B team played a challenge match with Portroe on Saturday and it was great to see so many new faces mixing with the other members of the club. We would like to say that we are still open to new and old members to augment this team.

Camogie Club notes - 22nd Feb 2010
The club would like to extend our congratulations to St Marys Senior Camogie team who won the senior A league against a very strong Urseline Convent team from Thurles in the Ragg on Sunday. The final score was 3-10 to 1-5 with Nenagh down a point at half time they dug deep in a very physical game and held the opposition scoreless in the second half. Nenagh Eire Og were well represented by Ciara McGrath Mary Dillon Gemma Morris and Aileen Duggan. Special thanks must go to the “bannisteoir” Gerry Dullea who has led many teams to many successes in the past and is personally responsible for the nurturing of Camogie in North Tipperary over the last decade or so. With Camogie and Hurling so strong in our schools we must remember the extra time and effort being put in by our school teachers.
Camogie Club notes - 7th Feb 2010
The long awaited county u16C Final took place on Saturday last in The Ragg Camogie pitch. The game was played in a heavy fog so it was hard for both teams to perform to the best of their ability. The first 15 minutes was the scene of intense battle with both sides trying to get the better of each other. Nenagh had the first chance of the game with a 65 going just wide. She then had a brilliant goal bound shot stopped by the Holycross defense. Holycross responded with a goal and a point in quick succession. The battle for ascendancy in mid field was fierce and it was one of Nenaghs mid fielders Mary Dillon who showed why she is Captain when she got to a ball she had no right to and beat the Holycross goalkeeper with a ground shot. Holycross responded with two points from frees to make the half time scoreline 1-3 to 1-0. Unfortunately Holycross started the second half on fire with a goal and a point in quick succession. Nenagh responded with a long range Cíara McGrath goal. Holycross finished off the game with 2 points to make the final scoreline Holycross 2-5 Eire Og 2-0. The Nenagh girls were devastated afterwards but in fairness Holycross were the superior team on the day. Both teams showed Honesty Integrity Skill and Determination and were a credit to their clubs for their Endeavour. Some of the Nenagh girls played with injuries and others despite being involved with other sports just hours before this, shows the absolute courage and commitment of the team for each other. Nenagh will have learned a lesson from this defeat and we will be the better for it. Thanks to the large support as always and to the management of Conor O Donavan Enda Costello Ger Morris.

The A.G.M of the Camogie club took place recently in the Eire Og complex and the new officer board and committee was elected. Chairperson Pat Sheridan Vice Chairperson Enda Costello Secretary Elizabeth Duggan Treasurer Tom McAuliffe P.R.O Séamie Morris Welfare Officers Mark Hassett Cora Collins Committee Denise Morris Kate McGrath Mairead Long Louise Ryan and two others to clarify at a later date. The club has progressed nicely to where it is now but the challenge now is to keep this fast growing club on track to be competitive and also provide a much needed diversion for the young Girls of Nenagh from the wrong choices in life and to provide a healthy outlet for the ever growing Nenagh Eire Og community. This takes time dedication and money which will have to be found in the coming year but the new committee are up to the task.
Camogie Club notes - 25th Jan 2010
The season is just coming to an end Just as another season is about start. The club recently had a very successful end of year party in Buddys Capparoe. Despite the inclement weather everybody made a special effort to make it a great night so well done to everybody concerned. The club A.G.M is taking place in McDonagh Park complex at 8.30 on Friday 29th January. It will be another large step forward for a very progressive club which has very major aims and ambitions. The club would like to acknowledge and thank all those at county board level for their work in making Camogie a fast growing sport in Tipperary and also to the management of all county teams and Cumhann Na Mbunscoil teams and of course the great work being done in our local Primary and secondary schools. The under 16 County final is down to be played on Febuary 06 ( time still to be announced) . At the time of their semi final win the girls were hopping off the ground but it has been very difficult for the management to keep them at that level over the Christmas due to the weather. They do however possess fantastic spirit and they need and deserve a very large crowd to come out and support them.
Camogie Club notes - 14th Dec 2009
Nenagh Eire Og launched their new kit this week for 2010 with Brendan Murphy Manager of O2 Nenagh who sponsored them. We would like to thank 02 Nenagh for this generous sponsorship without which our club would not continue to flourish and it should be remembered that our sponsors also deserve our support also It is a brand new look for the modern era and it is hoped to have the whole club wearing the new colours by the year end.

The club has had another mesmeric season with their first tentative step into the junior ranks which from our point of view was a great success. We have already approached a number of players to play Junior b hurling for us next year and we have had a great response but we are always on the look out for experienced hurlers to gel in with our very determined youth at the club.
Our under 16 team have reached the county final and incredibly we still don’t know our opponents. It is now expected that the county final will be held in Mid January.
Our end of season party for the u 10 to u 16s is on in Buddies Bar Capparoe at 9 o clock Friday January 8th.where amongst others the u 12s will get their county league medals.
The club would like to wish all club members and our very important sponsers a very merry Christmas and a peaceful new year and we would like to sympathize with any club member who has lost loved ones in the past year.

A special thank you to Tim Maher, Maureen Connolly, Lisa Carroll and Lar Cleary for all the time they have put into making it a very successfull year for the Tipperary u 14s and also for going over and above the call of duty by taking the girls bowling on Saturday before organising the presentation night in The Ragg. Thanks also to Donal Young for the use of the Ragg
Camogie Club notes - 18th Oct 2009
The under 10 wrapped up their season in fine form. They played in the Burgess tournament and ended up as outright winners after 6 very competitive games. It has been a season of improvement for the U10s and they are now ready for the step up to under 12 next season . A big thank you to all the parents that helped over the season without your help we could not function as a club. Tom McAuliffe and Pat Sheridan have guided the girls well all season.
The under 16s traveled to Ballycahill on Saturday to play arch rivals Holycross in a game that needed to be won to keep the great form they are showing but both teams went through anyway to the semi finals. It is a great shame that two teams of the quality of these teams have to use a pitch that is not up to the standard that they deserve while a few miles away the Ragg camogie pitch remained unused. The Nenagh girls had to contend with a mouse in their dressing room afterwards to add insult to injury. Nenagh started the game without the injured Alice Darcy and Gemma Morris and it showed because Zowie Clegg at full forward was causing Nenagh serious problems. Holycross went 1 02 up before Nenagh found their feet. Aishling O Brien at full forward for Nenagh Scored Nenaghs first point and was imposing herself on the Holycross backs. Holycross made it 2 02 soon after, The game was opening up now and Aileen Duggan followed up with a point and Aisling O Brien scored a goal to add to her earlier point. The game was of the highest quality and Ciara McGrath score a goal after a very determined run. Before half time Holycross rattled the Nenagh net again making the Half Time scoreline Holycross 4 02 Nenagh 2 02. Just before half time Nenagh lost the influential Aishling O Brien who had to go off with an illness to be replaced by her sister Coleen. Nenagh made wholesale changes for the second half with Alanna Morris going in to full back and Aileen Duggan going to wing back Gemma Morris Going to wing forward and Shannon Moran going in at corner forward. Nenagh gave everything in the second half with notable performances from Mary Dillon, Ciara McGrath, Aileen Duggan and Donna Mitchell. Ciara Mcgrath produced another great goal to reduce the deficit followed by a Gemma Morris point . Holycross finished the game with two further points despite intense pressure from Nenagh. The game ended with a 4 point win for Holycross but the character displayed by Nenagh will stand to them in the rest of the competition and the displays from all the panel will cause headaches for the management team for the remainder of the season.
Camogie Club notes - 3rd Oct 2009
It has been a great few weeks for the club with the u 8s playing in two tournaments
Last weekend we played in the Kilruane tournament fielding two teams the Blues and the Navys. Both teams competed very well and won many games. It was a well organized tournament and the girls really enjoyed themselves so thank you to the organisers.

This weekend We had the Paige Corcoran memorial tournament. Paige was a special part of our club and this tournament has been held in her memory over the last few seasons. Unfortunately the weather was against us but it did not take away from the dedication of all to enjoy themselves and do justice to the memory of Paige. Again we entered two teams and even though there was success for one of our teams it was more about an expression of fun and friendship than winning. All teams enjoyed the day and we would like to thank the u 8 coaches John Cora and Bridget and the u 16 girls who gave up their time to referee the games.
The u 16s continued on their winning ways with a hard fought win at home to Lorrha on Sunday evening. Under the guidance of Conor O Donavan, Kate Mcgrath, Ger Morris and Enda Costelloe this team is really taking shape and this was their third outing with two wins under their belt already there was a need to continue the progress. Nenagh started very well and Ciara McGrath was leading from the front at centre forward with surging runs which were causing problems for the Lorrah defence. While Lorrah were a physically stronger team Nenagh led at half time 1-2 to 0-2 with Ciara McGrath scoring the 1-2 to Nenagh. The second half saw another gritty performance from the girls with Alice Darcy back to her best form at full back but the real battle was at mid field with both teams looking for dominance but it was the two u 14 girls from Nenagh Zoey Gratton and Alanna Morris who won control in the end. Ciara Mcgrath was dominating the half forward line and Aishling O Brien was causing trouble in the full forward line. There were further scores from Ciara McGrath 2pts Gemma Morris 1 pt and Shannon Moran gl leaving Nenagh winners 2-5 to 1-3. It is a good balance and the whole panel of players are playing their part, it will need the full panel to keep this progress going for the full season if we are to realise the potential of all the hard work put in by the club since its inception.
Camogie Club notes - 22nd Sept 2009
Our U 8 and U10 Teams played challenge matches last week against Silvermines with the U 10 narrowly winning and the U8 narrowly losing in two very competitive matches. The U 8s are having a blitz on the 3rd of October in McDonagh Park.
The under 16s Continued their progress in their championship against Shannon Rovers on Saturday evening in McDonagh park. Nenagh emerged as convincing winners in the end but the first half was very competitive and could have gone either way. Nenagh are building a well balanced team well complimented by some of the u 14 girls. The team and scorers were LMcKenna, C.Collins , A Darcy, S Browne, S Maher M Dillon K Madden Z Gratton R White G Morris ( 1gl 1 pt) C McGrath ( 1-2) M Costelloe ( 1pt) A Duggan ( 3pts) A O Brien ( 2-2) C O Brien (1pt) A Morris S Moran (1gl) R O Brien C O Conner.
The team are responding well to the training and management of Conor O Donavan Enda Costello, Ger Morris and it is hoped that we will continue our winning ways in what is a very important season for the club. While it is usually unfair to pick out one player in such a fine team performance it was very encouraging to see Alice Darcy give such a fine performance after such a hard time with injuries.
Camogie Club notes - 31st Aug 2009
It has been a busy few weeks for the club with many of the teams in the club involved in blitzes and challenge matches up and down the county.
The under 10s played in the Moira Cahill Camogie Blitz in Dundrum hosted by Knockavilla/Donaskeigh Kickhams Camogie club.. They won there first 3 games got to the semi-final and were beaten 1 goal to nil. They competed very well on the day.
In the same tournament the U14’s played a number of games and were unlucky on the day but played very well.
Our very young junior B team competed in there first tournament in Dundrum and will be enriched by the experience. Thank you to all involved in this very successful day in which over 500 girls graced the field.
Our under 12s played Newport in the u12 b league and after a tough struggle the Nenagh girls won 3 -0. Thank you to Alice Darcy who refereed the game with great authority. The under 12s play their county semi final on Wednesday against Clonoulty with Holycross waiting in the final for the winners.
The under 14s traveled to Puckane last week to play a challenge match against Kildangan and on a tight pitch won the game while also having the opportunity to give all the players a run out. Nenagh will be hosting an U14 7 a side blitz in the very near future.
The under 16s have been playing challenge matches to prepare themselves for the start of their championship in September. They beat Roscrea and Durrow ( who are an A side) and they played Silvermines last week in Dolla where they came out as losers in an epic battle. The under 16s have some great players and a good coaching set up which augers well for the upcoming season. We would also like to thank Enda O Sullivan for his expert coaching and expertise he gave us while he was with us during the summer the girls really responded to his enthusiasm.
Ciara Mcgrath was a panelist on the Tipperary U 16 team that lost the Munster final to Limerick. Cíara had a great year with the under 16 panel and she looks forward to the new U 16 season with the club.
Last Saturday 5 Nenagh girls were panelists on the Two Tipperary under 14 Teams that competed in the Orla McDonagh tournament All Ireland Inter Country Blitz. Coleen O Brien Zoey Gratton Alanna Morris Shannon Moran and Aileen Duggan represented Nenagh on the day.. Both Tipperary teams came out winners Against Kilkenny and Galway respectively in a very competitive competition. Tipperary were very well prepared by Tim Maher Maureen Connolly Lar Cleary and Liza Carroll and Nenagh Camogie Club would like to thank them for the efforts they have put into preparing two excellent Tipperary teams. The club would also like to thank the McDonagh family for putting the financial assistance in place for this tournament in memory of their Beautiful daughter Orla who so tragically had her young life ended in a road traffic accident. It is a great memorial for her daughter and a lesson to the rest of us that life is precious.
The club are considering a number of fundraising ideas and anyone out there with any further ideas should contact me at seamusmorris@hotmail.com as soon as possible.
Camogie Club notes - 27th July 2009
The under 8s took part in a well organized blitz in Kilcoleman last Saturday organized by the Burgess club. The Nenagh Eire Og girls started slowly losing to Moneygall and Burgess but recovering well to Beat Toomevara and Roscrea. A special thanks to Trainers Bridget White and Cora Collins and our under 16 Girls for also stepping up to the mark in helping out our flourishing club Thanks to Alice Darcy Judy Mulqueen Stephanie Browne and Sarah Meagher for their time and interest. Camogie Club notes - 20th July 2009
Congratulations to Mairéad Sheridan who represented The Convent Primary school in the Primary Game during the Munster Final last week. It was a great honour for her parents and herself.
Nenagh under 14s played a league game against Holycross on Saturday. It was a very entertaining game with the final scoreline Nenagh Eire Og 4-6 Holycross 6-7. At half time the scores were even at 3-4 each. Holycross just got themselves ahead in the second half and despite the best efforts of a young Nenagh Eire Og team Holycross just about held out for their win. There has been epic battles between these two teams in the past and there is great respect between the players and mentors alike. Nenagh Eire Ogs scorers Shannon Moran 2 gls Zoey Gratton 1-1 Holly O Brien 1 goal Grace O brien 2 pts and Alanna Morris 2 pts. Team Sarah Quigley Roisin Starr Rachel Maher Mary Mckenna Amy Heffernan Alanna Morris Laura Doherty Aileen Duggan Zoey Gratton Taylor Murphy Coleen O Brien Aine Long Holly O Brien Shannon Moran Grace O Brien Mairead Sheridan Niamh Ryan Sarah O Conner. It has been a wonderful few years for the girls with two wins out of three county finals and with one match left a good rest is probably needed for them to recharge the batteries. All training resumes at the normal times.

The u 14 s lost their County Final replay against a much better Newport/Ballinahinch team last week with the scoreline 5-2 to 1 goal . Nenaghs goal came from the goal poacher supreme Grace O Brien. The girls were disappointed but you shouldn’t be too critical when you are beaten by a better team on the day. 95% of the team are underage again next year and this defeat will be a learning experience for next years championship.
Last weekend saw a number of girls togging out for Tipperary. Alanna Morris, Shannon Moran, Zoe Gratton and Coleen O Brien went with the Tipperary u 14s to the superb Cork Institute Of Technology playing arena where Tipperary were unbeaten in a 4 Team Tournament. Well done to the Girls from our club that won primary school county finals for Kilruane National School agus An Gaelscoil Aonach last week. Also well done to Mairead Sheridan for winning cumann na Mbunscoil player of the week.
The under 14 team played their county final on Friday night against Newport. We came a way with a lucky draw as Newport were the far superior team on the night. It was our unwillingness to lose that forced the draw. There is a lot of work to be done this week with the girls if they are to beat a very good Newport team next Friday Night. The final score was Eire Og 4-3 Newport 5 goals. Eire Ogs scorers were G O Brien 2 gls T Murphy 1 gl P Ryan 1 gl S Moran 2 pts C O Brien 1 pt. The replay was fixed for 7 o clock next Friday night in The Ragg. We will need as much support as we can get to cheer on the Girls for this epic battle. The girls have shown that they have the guts for the battle please support them.
The u12 s were then out on Saturday night in the county Quarter Final against Moyle Rovers. Three girls that had played on Friday were playing their second game in two nights Grace O Brien Sarah Quigley and Michelle Collins and like the rest of their u 12 team they aquitted themselves very well. They ran out comfortable winners with a scoreline of 5-2 to 2 points. The scorers were A McGrath 1-1 M Collins 1-1 G O Brien 1 gl M Sheridan 1 gl and C Ryan 1 gl.
Well done to Holly O Brien and Coleen O Brien who aquitted themselves well on Sunday in the Gaelic Grounds whilst playing for the Tipperary Primary Games team against Clare. The club would like to thank Donal McCarthy and his team for all the hard work they put into this event. It is one of the gems of the G.A.A and it is a great day out for the children and their parents.
Well done to all for the marvellous La nag Club events of the weekend and the very successful running of our leg of the Feile Na Gael event. The evidence of great Co Operation between the camogie club and the Hurling club was there for all to see and augers well for the future.

Well done to all the organizers and to the fantastic teams that took part in a great showcase for camogie in North Tipperary.
The under 14s county final is on in the Ragg next Friday night at 7 o clock against a very good Newport team. We are encouraging as many people as possible to cheer on our team on the night.

The under 12 championship started this week with a strong win against Holycross. Everyone at the club would like to wish one of our star players Rachel Maher a speedy recovery from her broken shoulder also thanks to Louise Ryan and Marie Morgan for so expertly looking after her on the field. It brings to mind the madness of not having a 24 hour A and E when a young girl in such pain has to wait until the next morning for her local A and E rather than face a 7 hour wait in the Limerick Regional Hospital. Training continues Mondays (C.B.S) and Fridays 5.30 to 6.30
Zoey Gratton has now been added to the Tipperary under 14 squad on the strength of her recent performances and she joined the Coleen O Brien Amy Duggan Alanna Morris for the Cork tournament last Saturday which The Tipperary girls were beaten in the final by Last Gasp Kilkenny free. Well done to all the girls who acquitted themselves well.
The under 16s continue Training on Fridays from 5 to 6 but they will have no games until after the Junior Certificate and again best wishes the everyone taking part in the exams. Well done to Gemma Morris , Alice Darcy and Mary Dillon who have been called up for the Tipperary U 16 Development squad which now makes it 9 Nenagh Camogie club players who are involved with Tipperary Squads. This is the result of all the hard work carried out by the club in the past number of years..

They beat Holycross in a thriller of a game last Friday with the score 6 goals to 3.6. the scores coming from Zoey Gratten 3 Aine Long, Shannon Moran and Michelle Collins. There was an incredible performance in the Goals from Sarah Quigley which was the difference between the two teams in the end. There will need to be a marked performance in order to win our second u 14 county final in two years against either New Inn or Newport. Last week also saw the under 14s win their county quarter final against Annacarthy with the scoreline 4-5 to 2 points in terrible conditions underfoot. Both teams did well to perform on the night.
Zoey Gratton has now been added to the Tipperary under 14 squad on the strength of her recent performances and she now Joins the Coleen O Brien Amy Duggan Alanna Morris and Shannon Moran for the Cork tournament next Saturday the best of luck to them.
The under 16s continue Training on Fridays from 5 to 6 but they will have no games until after the Junior Certificate and again best wishes the everyone taking part in the exams.Cíara Mcgrath came off the bench to score a goal for Tipperary Under 16s but unfortunately it was not enough to win the All Ireland Final against Galway. It was a great experience for Cíara and she performed admirably when called on.

The u 14's had a good win over Ballina last Wednesday in our last group game. We have won all our games and finished top of our group and will play Annacarthy in the Q/final sometime this week. Best of luck to all involved and lets hope the hard work will pay off.
The u 16 s continue training but they will not be playing until after the Junior Cert and best wishes to everyone talking part in exams.
Tipperary U/16's lost there All-Ireland to Galway. Ciara McGrath came on in the 2nd half for Tipp and scored a goal to bring them back into the game, But Galway finished the stronger and won by 4pts. Well done to Ciara who is under age at this level again next year.
The Tipperary u 14s will be playing a Blitz in Cork at the end of the month with Shannon Moran Aileen Duggan Alanna Morris and Coleen O Brien on the panels. Best of luck to all involved. Also best of luck to all taking part in the primary Schools trials at the moment. To be even picked for trials is a great honour.
Our Junior B team played there first two games over the last week. This is a very young team with one or two exceptions, but the Club needs to start fielding a adult team if we hope to build for the future. While the results did not show the hard work put in, there was a big improvement from the 1st to the 2nd game and that is all that we can ask for. Well done to all involved.
Please keep in contact with trainers at all levels as due to weather training might have to be switched or cancelled at short notice.

The A.G.M of Nenagh Eire Og camogie club was held in the Eire Og complex on Febuary 27 th. The following committee was elected. Chairman Pat Sheridan. Vice chairman Enda Costelloe. Secretary Elizabeth Duggan. Treasurer Tom Mcauliffe. Welfare Officers Mark Hasset Cora Collins P.R.O Seamus Morris committee members Bridget White Kate Mcgrath Denise Morris Mairead Long Mary Mulqueen Louise Ryan Team Managements u8 Cora Collins Bridget White Greg Browne u 10 managers Tom Mcauliffe Pat Sheridan u12 Mike Ryan Mairead Long Liam Mcgrath Tony Slattery u 14 Martin Ryan Rebecca Moran Denise Morris Philip Ryan u16 Enda Costelloe Conor O Donavan Junior Ger Morris Ger Darcy . It was agreed that last season was a breakthrough season for the club with three county titles brought home to Nenagh by the u12s and u14s and the club had 110 registered players which is astonishing for such a young club. There is a growing sense of community amongst the club members and a lot of praise has to go to the dedication of former committee members for putting this fantastic camogie club into the town of Nenagh and stopping the drain of players having to leave the town to play camogie. Last season also saw three players proudly wearing the county colours Ciara Mcgrath Alice Darcy and Alanna Morris. It was also a sad season with the dreadful loss of one of our greatest supporters Lorna Maher who will always be in our minds. The club have decided to take the u 12s and u 14s on a trip to Salthill on April 05 which will include two games for the teams and then they will also get the chance to take in the Tipperary Galway senior hurling game. It promises to be a great day out for the young players and their parents. Five players are currently attending trials for the Tipperary U14 team Alanna Morris Shannon Moran Aileen Duggan Zoey Gratton and Coleen O Brien with all 5 players going well so far. The club have a number of fundraising plans with the annual sponsored walk being one of the fundraising plans. The county board have also given us 15 50 euro t ickets to sell in a bid to raise much needed funds to keep the county teams going. The club will have to sell these internally If anyone wants to buy one please contact Treasurer Tom Mcauliffe at 086 6060545 . The club are also well represented in the Scor Na Paisti with Alanna Morris Roisin Starr Amy Heffernan teaming up with Shane Hennessey and after a superb performance have qualified for the North Tipperary Finals on Friday week. It is the first time in over 20 years that Nenagh Eire Og have been represented in Scor Na Paisti so well done to Margeret Hennessey and Shiela Starr for their expert guidance. Training continues u10s on Mondays and Fridays from 5 30 to 6 30 u 14s Monday and Thursday 5.45 to 7.00 U16s Fridays 5 to 6 and the Roscrea four team tournament will be played in April and our girls will be out in the first week of April. Camogie Club notes - 6th Jan 2009
The Club would like to wish everyone a very happy new year. A new camoige year will be upon us soon and the Club would welcome any suggestions or idea's that would help the Nenagh Camoige Club to take another big step forward in the coming year. 2008 was a fanastic year for the Club in winning 3 County Finals but we must not rest on that. We have to push the Club and the girls on to keep improving every year. We will be having a meeting in the next few weeks to get 2009 started and we look forward to seeing all the old faces back and maybe a few new ones too.
Camogie Club 2008 review
We hoped 2008 would be a big year for Nenagh Camoige Club and so it proved as we ended the year having played 4 County Finals and winning 3 of them. Along with that our very young U/16’s reached the County semi-final and our U/10’s won the Moneygall blitz and lost narrowly in the semi-finals of our own Nenagh blitz and also the Toomevara blitz. Our U/8’s also won a lot of matches this year with their numbers growing to over 30 girls.
They year started great when 6 girls from our camoige club won All-Ireland honours with St Marys Convent. Also two of our girls, Ciara McGrath and Alice Darcy were representing the Club on the County scene. Our U/14’s started training early and from the dedication shown right from the start and the addition of a few new faces we knew this could be a special year. We started off the group stages beating Kiladangan, Shannon Rovers and Lorrha to come out top of our group. We also played a few games against stronger opposition which stood to us as the year went on. We played Newport in the Q/F in what was a tough encounter but also let the girls know that we had to work hard and as a team to have a chance of winning. The S/F against New Inn, a team we had never beaten, was when this team showed how good they could be. Judy, Ciara and Aileen got the goals but the team as a whole gave it everything and where worthy winners. We played Holycross in the Final. They had put up a huge score in their semi-final so we knew it was going to be very hard work. On a very windy Sunday Morning history was made for our Club when the girls put in a huge performance to capture our first County Final. The Game was won in the first half, when against the wind the girls didn’t concede a goal and our captain Jessica scored one. The 2nd half the girls opened up and more scores by Ciara, Shannon, Judy, Gemma and Janette insured victory on a scoreline of Nenagh 6-5 to Holycross 1-4. It was a great team performance and it was with great scenes of joy when Jessica Maher lifted the trophy.
Our U/12’s had being going along nicely as well. They topped their group with some good performances against portroe, Kiladangan and Ballina. Some of these girls have played U/12 for the last 3 years and it showed this year with some real strength in the squad. Our Captain Alana was also playing with the Tipperary primary schools. We played our Q/F against Newport the Tuesday after our u/14 C/F and while some of the girls were a bit flat, some of our younger girls shone through and we won with a few goals to spare. We then had to play our semi-final two days later. This was against Holycross and we knew they would be out for revenge for their U/14 defeat. This was the hardest game of the year for the U/12’s. Sarah in goals made some great saves and while our forwards where a bit wasteful, Alana, Holly and Colleen got the scores that mattered and we won by a single point. This match was played on the 26th of June and we were told the final was to be played within two weeks. The final was played on the 12th of September in Drom. This long wait was very hard on the girls, the Club and the parents and something the County Board has to seriously look at. The girls worked really hard during the 11 weeks and on the night they were rearing to go. A huge crowd turned up in Drom and witnessed a great performance by this team. Collen scored 3 goals, Holly scored 1-1 and Alana a point, but the backs lead by Rachel Maher and Zoey Gratton, who only conceded a point to Annacarthy, really stood out. Alana received the trophy and along with Zoey, Collen, Aine and Amy were a big part in both County final winning panels.
Our U/10’s were also playing a lot of matches. We lost in the semi-final of our own blitz by a single score but went on to beat Newport in the plate final. We went on and won the Moneygall Blitz beating the hosts in the final. This was just reward for the panel as they had put in a lot of training and deserved something to show for it. There is a lot of talent coming through and this is a good sign for the future of Nenagh Camoige club. Our last Blitz was in Toomevara. The team played really well beating Na Fianna and Burgess, but a draw against Carrig/riverstown meant we came second in our group on Goals scored. This meant we played Toome in the semi-final again and once again after a great match, we lost out narrowly. The team can be proud of the year they had.
Our U/8’s started the year on fire, going unbeaten right up to September and the only Nenagh team to beat Toomevara in camoige this year. A lot of hard work by Cora, Greg and Bridget went in at this level and the girls really enjoyed it, with a new face coming every week. The numbers were such that we played two teams in a lot of practise matches. We ran a U/8 blitz in memory of Paige Corcoran which was a great success. Nenagh had two teams involved so everyone got a good run out and all really enjoyed the day and we thank all the clubs who took part. Hopefully everyone will be back in the field next year as it is great to see so many young girls enjoying themselves playing camoige.
Our U/16’s had a hard year. This panel has everyone under-age again next year. They trained all year waiting for their championship to come round which didn’t happen until mid-September. We did play a few practise matches during the year but it is very hard to keep girls interested when there is no fixed date for proper matches. In fairness the girls stayed training and competed well in their matches. They beat Lorrha, lost a tight game to Shannon Rovers and beat Newport in there last game. They game out top of their group on score difference and played Holycross in the County s/f. We had beaten them in the U/12 s/f and the U/14 final so they were all out to make sure it wouldn’t happen a third time. On the day we couldn’t match them as they were a much more physically stronger team. They have since gone on to win the Championship and well done to them. Next year should be a big year for this panel if everyone comes back and works hard. Hopefully the championship will be run a little better to give girls a chance of playing more games.
Our U/12’s then continued there good run when they competed in u/12 B League. They went all the way to another county final with the highlight beating Roscrea in the semi-final. We played Kilruane in the final minus 2 or 3 girls but the team played really well and while they had a lot of possession, they could not break through for the scores they needed and lost out to a very good team. This was the only disappointment for the girls this year who really worked so hard all year to reach the two county finals. Hopefully they will continue to improve and this is only the start of them winning trophies with our club.
The U/14’s continued there winning ways in their county B League. We beat Moneygall on their pitch and followed that up with a hard earned win against Kilruane in Nenagh. We had called up a few more u/12’s to the panel and they settled in really quickly which is a good sign for the future. We played Drom in the Ragg on a really bad Saturday. It didn’t look good before hand as we had girls sick, injured or gone away. The panel stuck together and worked really hard for each other. Judy got the important goal. A fact that this team has reached three County Finals and Judy has got the important goal in all three semi-finals. Alana and Ciara who were excellent in the middle of the field scored two points each. Once again the defence really stood out not conceding a score against a very good drom team. We played Moneygall in the final in their pitch again. It is ironic that our first practise game of the year was against moneygall and now our last was to be against the same team. This was a much tougher game than the earlier two, but the girls stuck to there task, despite missing Jessica, Rachel and Holly. We were a goal up, scored by Ciara, when they came strong in the last few minutes of the first half scoring a point. The defining moment of the game I think was just on half time Zoey raced from her line to make a goal saving block and clearance. If Moneygall had gone in ahead at half-time we might not have won. The girls started well in the 2nd and scored 2-1 in the first 10 minutes. Ciara got her second, Aileen got a point and Stephanie cracked home after good pressure by Gemma and Judy. A point from Shannon was followed by the score of the game as Shannon doubled on a high ball from the 21 to the net. A great piece of skill. Moneygall got a goal just before the end to make the final score 4-2 to 1-1. Claire Collins received the trophy on behalf of the team and also to bring the curtain down on a remarkable year for Nenagh Camoige Club. Forwards always get mentioned but our backs this year have been brilliant and in a lot of games keeping the opposition goalless. Girls like Alice, Amy, Janette and Cathriona for the U/14’s and Paula, Roisin, Mary, Niamh and Cara for the U/12’s. Also our goalkeeper’s Sarah and Zoey had excellent years.
The club has made a big step forward this year and hopefully will push on again next year. A lot of credit goes to the chairman and his committee, but also to the trainers who put in a huge effort every week. Most of the credit must go to the girls and their parents for giving up so much of there time and also the patience in attending training and matches which are being arranged or changed at short notice. We had a great victory night in Buddies when current All-Star Trish O’Halloran presented our three County Final winning panels with their medals.
Thanks to everyone and we hope everyone has a nice Christmas and are already looking forward to 2009.
Camogie Club notes - 1st Dec 2008
Under 8’s: Our U/8’s are now finished for the year. A big thanks to Bridget, Cora and Greg for the hard work put in through the year.
Under 10’s. The girls are now finished for the year. A big thank you to Pat, Tom and Mairead for all the work put in and thanks to everyone who helped out during the year.
Under 12’s: Our very successful year is now over and we must congratulate every one involved with the U/12’s, parents, supporters, helpers, trainers and the girls themselves for having such a wonderful year. We hope to see everyone involved back next year and hopefully a few new faces to help out as well. Once again, thanks to Martin, Liam, Denise, Louise and Mike for everything they done this year.
Under 14’s: At long last our U/14’s can get a well deserved rest. Our Double County Champions have had a very long but very successful year. The girls can be very proud of everything they done, going unbeaten all year. We hope this is only the start for some of these girls and that everyone of the panel will be back in the field next year. Both panels got presented with their County medals by Trish O’Halloran, Tipperary’s only All-Star and who knows, maybe someday these girls might emulate Trish’s achievements. Big thanks to Mike, Rebecca, Cora, Emma and Martin for their efforts this year.
Under 16’s: Our year is now over and we thank Conor, Enda, Kate and all the girls for the effort put in throughout the year.
AOB: Our Chairman Pat Sheridan, Secretary Louise Ryan, Treasurer Tom McAuliffe and members of the Committee put a lot of effort in what was our most successful but also the hardest year in the running of the club. As it showed this year, the Club is very stable and going in the right direction and we thank the committee and trainers for their time, effort, patience and hard work. They can all take a well earned rest and re-charge the batteries for next year. There are a lot of photos from this historic and successful year on the Nenagh Eire Og website as well as match reports. They are worth a look.
Camogie Club notes - 24th Nov 2008
Under 12’s: Our year ended with the Presentation of County final medals to our successful U/12 team last Friday night. Under 14’s: Our fantastic U/14 team won their 2nd County Final of the year last Sunday week. We played Moneygall in the County B League final and started without the services of regular Captain Jessica Maher. The girls said they wouldn’t let her down and they didn’t beating a strong Moneygall side 4-2 to 1-1. The 1st half was very even and again it took Ciara to make the breakthrough. The highlight of the half was when Zoey raced from her line to block the on rushing forward, disposes her and clear out the side. That lifted the girls and in the first 10 minutes of the 2nd half they scored 2-1 without reply. Ciara scored her second after good work by Gemma. More pressure by Judy resulted in Stephanie scoring our third. Aileen then tipped over a nice point of her weaker side. Shannon added another point before the score of the game. A Moneygall clearance was half blocked by Coleen and the ball flew up in the air. As it dropped on the 21, Shannon doubled on it to the back of the net. Moneygall fought hard to the end and rewarded with a late goal before the end. The girls can be very proud of everything they done, going unbeaten all year. Both panels got presented with their County medals last Friday by Trish O’Halloran, Tipperary’s only All-Star and who knows maybe someday these girls might emulate Trish’s achievements. Big thanks to Mike, Rebecca, Cora, Emma and Martin for their efforts this year.
Under 16’s: Our year is now over and we thank Conor, Enda, Kate and all the girls for the effort put in throughout the year.
AOB: There are a few odd size hoodies left and if anyone is interested contact Tom. Anyone interested in ordering Jackets or Hoodies contact Pat or Tom asap as this will be the last order this year. Our presentation night was last Friday in Buddies. Our 3 County Final winning teams were presented with their medals by current All-star Trish O’Halloran who we thank very much for attending and giving a lovely speech. Thanks also to Finbarr, Mary, Joe, Pierce and all the staff of Buddies. Our Chairman Pat Sheridan, Secretary Louise Ryan, Treasurer Tom McAuliffe and members of the Committee put a lot of effort in to Friday night and they deserve a lot of credit for how successful a night it was and already the girls can’t wait for next year. There are a lot of photos from this successful year on the nenagh Eire Og website as well as match reports. They are worth a look.

Under 12’s We had the U/12 County B league blitz last weekend. This was our first time competing in the B competition. The Girls played Kilruane first and were slow out of the blocks and found themselves two goals down. Good work by Mairead and Aine got one back but that was it. We played Roscrea next in a game we had to win to stay in the competition. The girls played really well and Alision McGraths two goals were the important scores. We then played the County final against Kilruane but our luck ran out despite playing really well our forwards could not break through the much bigger, stronger Kilruane backs and we lost by two goals. This panel has had a great year and well done to all for their efforts during the year. We hope to see everyone in Buddies next Friday for the medal presentation night.

We had a fabulous win against New Inn in the County Semi Final last Monday week. We started very well but it took a Ciara McGrath goal to settle us down. Two further points by Ciara were cancelled out by two frees by New Inn's excellent centre back. Great work just before half time resulted in a lovely Aileen Duggan Goal. The 2nd half was very tough and we seemed in control until they were awarded a 13m free which they scored. With only a goal in it, things were getting edgy until Judy Mulqueen broke inside and scored a cracking goal to relive the pressure.
Final Score Nenagh 3-2 V New Inn 1-2.
