Under 14 County final - 5th August 2010
The U14s played their much anticipated county final on Thursday last against favourites Moneygall in the Ragg. It was to a fantastic game full of skill and endeavour with both teams giving their all. Nenagh started the brighter and Elaine Slattery was just wide with a great shot. She then forced a great save from the Goalkeeper which resulted in a 65. Coleen O Brien showed her skill by opening the scoring with a great goal after one of her trademark runs from the wing forward position. The first half ended with the game on a knife edge with Nenagh 1-0 to 0-0. the second half saw Moneygall getting more into the game with their influential centre back Mairead Teehan scoring a wonderful individual goal to even the scores. Nenagh were pressing hard with wides from Grace O Brien Zoey Gratton and Holly O Brien but it was Moneygall who went ahead with another goal to make it 2-0 to 1-0. Both Defences were completely on top and scores were at a premium. The Nenagh management made a few moves which would prove to be influential on the game bringing on Lisa Darcy and Sarah O Conner and Moving Alanna Morris to mid field. It wasn’t long before Alanna Morris was beginning to make probing runs from mid field and one of these runs ended up with her finishing brilliantly to the net to send the game into injury time and the large Nenagh crowd into ecstasy on the sideline. Injury time showed the fantastic shape the girls were in from the great training they had received from their management team. Sarah O Conner was causing the Moneygall full back line serious concern and Nenagh scored Points from Grace O Brien and Alanna Morris and after a disallowed Alanna Morris goal the coup de gras was provided by Sarah O Conner who scored the last gaol of the game. Nenagh won 3-2 to 2-0 against a valiant Moneygall team. The team have worked really hard all year and winning silverware is what they deserve for their endeavours.
Under 16 Blitz - Saturday 7th August 2010
On Saturday August 7th, our Under Sixteen camogie team travelled to Dundrum to play in a blitz hosted by the Knockavilla Kickhams club. This was the first time the Under Sixteen team played together this year as the girls have been busy playing with the Under fourteen and Junior B teams. In this regard it proved a very important exercise as the Under Sixteen championship is due to begin in the coming weeks. We played four games, winning two and very unfortunate not to get a result in the other two games. First up was Thurles Sarsfields. This was a highly entertaining game with Thurles winning on a score line of 1-02 to 0-02. Aileen Duggan and Ciara McGrath got the Eire Og scores. We played Limerick side Cappamore next and in this game the girls started to hurl to the best of their ability. We conceded an early goal but this did not deter the girls. Danielle Harington started the fight back with a well taken point from thirty yards. This lifted the entire team and soon Colleen O Brien finished a great move with a very well taken goal. Danielle Harrington then gathered possession on the forty and raced through the heart of the Cappamore defence before handpassing the ball over the bar. Aileen Duggan followed this up with another point before Colleen O Brien scored her second goal of the game with a bullet from a ground stroke. Final score Nenagh 2-03 Cappamore 1-00. That result gave the girls a lot confidence ahead of their next game against a combination of New Inn and host club Knockavilla Kickhams. Again we conceded an early goal but refused to panic. County Under Sixteen star Ciara McGrath led the comeback with a great point before Danielle Harington raced through and crashed the ball into the corner of the net. McGrath followed this up with a pointed free and Holly O Brien finished the scoring with a point. Final score Nenagh 1-03 New Inn / Knockavilla Kichams 1-00. We played our neighbours Burgess in the final game. This was a winner take all match with the victors qualifying for the final. We played outstanding hurling in this match restricting Burgess to just one attack from which they scored a goal. For the entire match we were camped inside the Burgess half and somehow failed to find the net. Aileen Duggan got our only score, a point from forty yards. We created numerous chances and but for great goalkeeping, brave defending and unfortunate wides we would have won. Final score Burgess 1-00 Nenagh 0-01. The day proved an enormous success and while we did not win, we achieved all our goals. Every member of the panel played and it was important for the Under Sixteen team to get much needed match practice together. We played very well in all our games against “A” opposition and most importantly the girls enjoyed the day. Thank you to Knockavilla Kickhams for successfully hosting and organising the blitz.

Panel: Colleen O Brien, Rachel Maher, Stephanie Browne, Catriona O Connor, Alannah Morris, Alice D’Arcy, Zoe Gratton, Aileen Duggan, Ciara McGrath, Gemma Morris, Danielle Harington, Holly O Brien, Shannon Moran, Judy Mulqueen, Jessica Maher, Paula Ryan, Sarah Quigley, Lisa D’Arcy, Sarah O Connor, Aine Long, Cara Mulqueen.
County U12B county Final report. 27th May 2010
The U12 team captured the county U12B title on Thursday with a comprehensive victory over a determined St Cronins of Roscrea team. In fact it was Roscrea that drew first blood with a great individual goal from the wonderful Chloe Kirwan. Nenagh were rocked back in their heels and it looked like the favorites tag was going to be a heavy load to carry for Nenagh. In the next attack parity was restored when Leah Sheedy creased the ball to the net. Nenagh now had got their composure back and for a short while it became the Grace O Brien and Chloe Kirwan show with Grace O Brien scoring 3-4 to Chloe Kirwans 1-1 to make the halftime scoreline Nenagh Eire Og 4-4 Roscrea 2-1
In the second half it was obvious that Nenagh had decided to put two markers on Chloe Kirwan and Hazel McAuliffe and Clodagh Ryan stuck to their task nullifying Roscreas main threat while Grace O Brien ran riot in the second half scoring a further 4-5 to make her final tally an amazing 7-8. Maeve Coffey and Hazel Coffey finishing the scoring with great individual scores. In goals Sarah Quigley is proving to very safe the fullback line of V Tynan N Ryan and K O Connor were very efficient at protecting their goalkeeper the half back line of R Bourke A Dillon and E Percy have great skill the mid field of H McAuliffe and L Darcy worked tirelessly for their team the half forward line of G O Brien ( 7-8) C Ryan and M Coffey (1-0) proved to be very clinical and the full forward line of L Sheedy ( 1-0) A Hallinan and Fiona Hennessey have proven all year that they have the goal scoring capacity and cuteness needed for any team to win any championship title. The team were superbly augmented by a huge panel of players and the subs were H Coffey (1-0) R Hasset S Morris S kennedy S Griffen A Byrne C Phelan A Kennedy C Costello C Browne R Browne B McGrath N Sheridan K Manicle B Boland L Kelly R O Connor B McKenna S Shanahan. We were lucky enough this year to field two teams and the all the girls have worked hard and have improved immeasurably under the Guidance of K O Brien N Coffey and M Ryan. A special mention must go the Lisa Darcy who showed real courage to come back to play a leading role in mid field despite having to overcome a debilitating eye injury this season.
County u16c Final report. Nenagh Eire Og 2-0 Holycross 2-5 - 6th Feb 2010

The long awaited county u16C Final took place on Saturday last in The Ragg Camogie pitch. The game was played in a heavy fog so it was hard for both teams to perform to the best of their ability. The first 15 minutes was the scene of intense battle with both sides trying to get the better of each other. Nenagh had the first chance of the game with a 65 going just wide. She then had a brilliant goal bound shot stopped by the Holycross defense. Holycross responded with a goal and a point in quick succession. The battle for ascendancy in mid field was fierce and it was one of Nenaghs mid fielders Mary Dillon who showed why she is Captain when she got to a ball she had no right to and beat the Holycross goalkeeper with a ground shot. Holycross responded with two points from frees to make the half time scoreline 1-3 to 1-0. Unfortunately Holycross started the second half on fire with a goal and a point in quick succession. Nenagh responded with a long range Cíara McGrath goal. Holycross finished off the game with 2 points to make the final scoreline Holycross 2-5 Eire Og 2-0. The Nenagh girls were devastated afterwards but in fairness Holycross were the superior team on the day. Both teams showed Honesty Integrity Skill and Determination and were a credit to their clubs for their Endeavour. Some of the Nenagh girls played with injuries and others despite being involved with other sports just hours before this, shows the absolute courage and commitment of the team for each other. Nenagh will have learned a lesson from this defeat and we will be the better for it. Thanks to the large support as always and to the management of Conor O Donavan Enda Costello Ger Morris. County u16 Semi Final report. Nenagh Eire Og 6-9 Cahir 2-3 - 14th Nov 2009
Nenagh finally got to play their long awaited county semi final on Saturday morning after the heavy rain led to the cancellation of the game last weekend. In fact the pitch was in remarkable shape after the overnight rain even though it was heavy.. Nenagh got into their stride very early when Ciara Mcgrath pointed from a free in the first minute. Gemma Morris doubled the score after Aishling O Brien brilliantly scooped the ball into her hands as she ran towards goal. Two further points from Ciara Mcgrath made it 4 points to nil as Nenagh took a firm hold of the game. Aishling O Brien then scored a great goal from the ground to make it 1=4 to 0-0. Two further points from Ciara Mcgrath one a free made it 1-6 to 0-0. Aileen Duggan then scored a long range goal and added a point to confirm the fine game she was having. Ciara Mcgrath made the half time scoreline 2-8 to 0-0.
It was a strong first half performance but it was aided by a strong breeze so Nenagh needed to keep their concentration in the second half. Cahir started the second half with a well taken goal by their centre forward after a great solo run. They soon followed with a point. Nenagh needed to steady themselves and Aishling O Brien did just that with a great goal.Ciara McGrath made it 3-9 with a point before Aileen Duggan scored another great goal. Coleen O Brien doubled on her sisters shot towards goal to make it 5-9 to 1-1. Aishling O Brien goaled another great ground stroke to make it 6-9 to 1-1. Cahir showed they were still in the game when they went up field and scored a goal and two points in quick succession. Nenagh won they game 6=9 to 2-3 making it to the county final against either old rivals Holycoss or New Inn who had their game called off in the same pitch Nenagh had played on minutes before! This was a perfect team performance with everyone from 1 to 20 giving their all it will be a hard team to pick for the final.. Nenagh belied the early morning start with a blistering performance from the throw in. The team was well balanced and now look forward to the final. We would like also to wish a speedy recovery to Lisa Darcy who suffered an eye injury recently. No doubt Lisa’s great spirit and character will help her in her road to recovery.

U12B County League - Nenagh Eire Og 1-3 Holycross 0-0 - 3rd Oct 2009
Nenagh Camoige club took another big step forward in our brief history when we won the County U/12 B League Final against Holycross last Saturday in the Ragg. We have played Holycross a lot in big games over the last couple of years and all games have been full of skill and excitement and it was the same again on Saturday. Having suffered the disappointment of losing the Championship final to Holycross a few weeks ago in a classic match the girls knew they had to produce something special which they did in fine style. Changes were made from then and also the Semi-final against the Silvermines and from the start Nenagh looked alot more balanced side. They game started at a great pace and this pace was kept up for the full game which is a credit to work put in by the trainers. Both teams had chances early on with Rachel, Michelle and Clodagh going close. When Holycross attacked Grace, Cara and Anna were able to read the danger and effect some fine clearances. Nenagh struck the first blow when a good ball in by Lisa was kept alive by Maeve and Elaine finished to the net from close range. Both teams kept pressing and Nenagh escaped just on half time with a good save by Sarah and brave defending by Mary and Niamh kept Holycross out.
Alicia came on at half time to add more pace to our attack and the girls stepped it up another gear for the second half. Scores were very hard to get but with Grace and Rachel dominating we really kept the pressure on Holycross. We had some wayward shooting at the start of the 2nd half but a first time ball by Sarah O'Connor found Mairead who turned her marker to fire over a great point. Holycross came back again in search of a score and a strong run by their No.8 was halted and cleared by a combination of Emma, Niamh and Mary and from Rachel's reliving clearance, Michelle split the posts. Amy White was now on and her speed made a big difference in the closing stages. Alision also came on and good pressure by her on the full back allowed Elaine in to tap over a really good point. Holycross never gave up but our defence and Goalie who have only conceded one goal in their last 6 matches where giving nothing away and when the final whistle went the score was Nenagh 1-3 Holycross 0-0.
Credit has to go to both teams as in both games the skill level and excitement was excellent. A bit thanks to our trainers Tony, Mairead and Liam and all their helpers for the hard work and patience put in with this panel. To lose such a close, hard game like the final a few weeks was hard but to come back as well as this panel have shows how special and talented they are. Thanks to Nenagh Credit Union who came on board this year and all the girls got presented with polo shirts. A noisy parade around the town was followed by a meal in the Hi-B and Thanks to Martin and his staff. This is the end of the year on the playing side and to look back and see like last year we only lost one match the whole year show how much the girls and the club are improving but everybody has to keep pushing on to make sure days like Saturday happen every year. Training will continue for a few more weeks and plans are in place for a end of year celebration party. Well done to all.
U12B County League - Nenagh Eire Og 3-6 Silvermines 0-4 - 26th Sept 2009
Nenagh travelled to the Ragg last Saturday to play Silvermines in the U12 B league semi final. The first half was a fairly even affair but in the second half Nenagh began to apply wave after wave of pressure and ended up convincing winners with the final score of 3-6 to 0-4. Scorers on the day were Maeve Coffey, Rachel Maher, Grace O’Brien and Michelle Collins. We will now face Holycross for the second time this year in a county final and hopefully we will emerge victorious this time. These girls are a really hardworking group and we wish them all the best in the forthcoming final.
Under 12 County final - Nenagh Eire Og 0-5 Holycross 0-7 - 12th Sept 2009
We travelled to the Ragg last Saturday on what was a lovely sunny afternoon to play our U/12 County Final versus Holycross. We qualified for the Final after beating Clonoulty last Tuesday evening by a goal and a point scored by Meave Coffey. The team showed two changes from mid-week with Lisa Darcy and Elaine Slattery who were both sick in mid week coming back in for Meave and Alicia Hanlon. This decision looked to be a good one in the 1st half as both girls scored very good points. We started well and Elaine scored our first point but Holycross's excellent No. 9, who caused us problems all during the game, started making some really strong runs from mid field which led to some frees being awarded and after ten minutes they were up by 3 points to 1 point. All credit to our wonder goalie Sarah Quigley who made some fantastic saves. The girls then hit a purple patch with a great point from Lisa and two from Grace O'Brien to put us back in front. In this period we had 3 really good goal chances from Clodagh, Mairead and Alison with Alison being the unluckiest not to score and at half time the score was Nenagh 4pts - Holycross 3pts.
We had beaten Holycross in tight games over the last couple of years and they came out in the second half determined that it would not happen again. They took over around half-back and mid-field and we found it very difficult to get the ball to our inside forwards. The backs were outstanding again, they kept repelling the attacks but they were getting no break from wave after wave of Holycross pressure. Sarah, Niamh and Mary made sure that no goals were scored but Holycross did get two frees to go back in front. The Holycross goalie did make a good save from Ali before Ali was replaced by Meave. We got back level from a point from Grace but we keeping no pressure on their backs and the pressure kept coming. Emma, Kara, Anna and our Captain Rachel kept driving the ball back out. We did come back strong near the end with the Holycross goalie making a great block from Meave. In the very last play of the game we won a 30 meter free and we threw everything into this last chance however, the whistle blew and the game was over! Final score Nenagh 0-5 Holycross 0-7.
This was a brilliant game of Camogie and one we can feel proud to be part of. The girls gave everything to try and retain this trophy that we won last year. A lot of girls were part of that panel last year and nearly 70% are part again next year. A lot of credit to Liam, Mairead and Tony for their efforts all year to get the girls this far, as like our U/14s the girls had won all there games up to the County Final. Thanks also to all the Supporters who turned up in large numbers to cheer us on.Thanks also to Mike, Louise, Philip and Martin Ryan John McKenna Ger Morris and Tom McAuliffe for their invaluable help also.

It was a busy week for the club with the Under 16s traveling to Newport on Friday with a very depleted squad missing 5 of the senior players for what was to be a tough encounter. The first half was a tight affair with Newport going into the break 3 points ahead. Nenagh introduced some of the u 14 girls in this game and along with their more senior team mates they really dug deep and began to impose themselves on Newport particularly in midfield, gradually taking control of the game running out 4-7 to 3-4 winners. Well done to all involved we are at Home this week against Shannon Rovers.

Under 14 County final - Nenagh Eire Og 4-4 Newport 5:0 - 19th June 2009
The under 14 team played their county final on Friday night against Newport. We came a way with a lucky draw as Newport were the far superior team on the night. It was our unwillingness to lose that forced the draw. There is a lot of work to be done this week with the girls if they are to beat a very good Newport team next Friday Night. The final score was Eire Og 4-3 Newport 5 goals. Eire Ogs scorers were G O Brien 2 gls T Murphy 1 gl P Ryan 1 gl S Moran 2 pts C O Brien 1 pt. The replay was fixed for 7 o clock next Friday night in The Ragg. We will need as much support as we can get to cheer on the Girls for this epic battle. The girls have shown that they have the guts for the battle please support them.

U/12 County B League Final - Sat 15th Nov 2008
It was another great weekend for our Club. On Saturday we travelled to Roscrea for our U/12 county B Blitz. Due to postponements over the last few weeks, we were happy to be playing even thought we were missing a few girls. We played Kilruane first and the girls were understandably rusty and were two goals down at half time. The second half was much better and after good battling between Aine and Maireid the ball finished up in the back of the net. We were then very unlucky with some chances and had a goal by Colleen ruled out and brought back for a 21, which went wide. The match ended 2gls to 1gl and left the girls stunned, as this was their first loss in league or Championship all year. We played Roscrea next and we changed a few girls around. This worked well and the girls gave a much-improved showing with Alison McGrath’s two goals being the main difference between the sides at the end. Also Sarah in goals made some great saves, but you could also see the girls were beginning to find their form again. Some of these girls will have a very bright future in camoige if the keep improving as they are at the moment. Due to that win and other results we were in the Final against Kilruane. This was a great game of camoige with the Nenagh girls giving it their all. While they had lots of possession they could not make the breakthrough and went in at half time a goal down. At half time the girls said they would give it they’re all in the 2nd half and they did. They had lots of the ball but still could not break through against the much bigger and physically stronger Kilruane backs. Kilruane got another goal and there was know way back for our girls who fought right to the end. Well done to Kilruane on their win and on the day we just could not match them for size.
All the U/12 Nenagh Panel deserve huge credit for the year they had. To get to One County final in a year is hard enough but to win one and lose out narrowly in the 2nd just shows how hard these girls have worked since last March. They can be very proud of themselves because the Club and their parents are. Once again a huge thanks to Martin and Liam for all their effort. We hope the girls and their parents know the amount of work they both have put in this year for the girls to win the County Final. Also thanks to the parents for their patience and help in what has been a very long year.
U/14 County B League Final - Sunday 16th Nov 2008
This historic team just doesn’t know when its beat. After becoming the 1st team from the club to win a County Final, they now have followed it up by doing the double. We travelled to Moneygall last Sunday to play Moneygall in the B League Final. We were missing a few girls but the biggest loss was our inspirational Captain Jessica Maher. The 1st half was very even with most of the play in the middle third. Our half back line of Amy and Alice Darcy and Captain for the day Claire Collins was very much on top. Mid-field pairing Ciara and Alana were also winning a lot of ball but the Moneygall backs were playing well and while we did have our chances, we didn’t make them count. A few scoring chances had gone wide before a great ball in by Ciara found the back of the net. Their fullback looked to have it cut out but good pressure by Judy stopped her getting a touch. Moneygall finished the half stronger and scored a point from a free. One of the most important moments of the game came just before half time. Moneygall broke through one v one with Zoey who not only stopped a certain goal but also disposed her and cleared the ball. This gave our girls a huge boost to be going in at half time 2pts ahead and not a point down.

Paula Ryan replaced the injured Laura Doherty at half time. That boost could also be the reason Nenagh started the 2nd half so well. We dominated the first 10 mins and put 2-1 on the board. Ciara scored a cracking effort from 25 yards after great work by Gemma who herself had an outstanding 2nd half. Aileen tapped over a point off her bad side after strong work by Stephanie. The pick of the goals came when a Moneygall clearance was half blocked by Colleen. The ball flew up in the air and as it was coming down Shannon doubled on it from the 21 to the net. Our backs were playing really well with Janette, Cathriona and Paula making some great clearances. Alice, who has being brilliant all year was having the game of her life, made another great run and drove the ball in. Judy and Colleen kept the pressure on inside and when the ball broke Stephanie cracked it home. Ceri then replaced Judy and Aine replaced Colleen. A nice ball by Gemma found Shannon who turned and put over a nice point. A few niggly frees crept in from both sides as the girls got tired and it was from one of these frees, Moneygall scored. It dropped in around the square and despite the best efforts of Janette and Zoey to clear it finished in the back of the net. They nearly got a 2nd soon after but Claire got in the way and the danger was cleared. The last few minutes were played around mid-field before the ref blew the final whistle to bring an end to a remarkable year for this U/14 team.
This game like the Drom game was won due to our work rate and better balance over the field. These girls have being training for the last 10 months and hopefully this year shows that hard work really does pay. Martin, Cora, Emma, Rebecca and Mike are very proud to have worked and trained with these girls and we hope they think the same. Claire Collins received the trophy on behalf of the team and gave a lovely speech thanking the Club, Sponsors, Supporters, County Board, trainers and also our absent Captain Jessica. Final Score: Nenagh 4-2 Moneygall 1-1.

There was a very good crowd again from Nenagh to support the girls and we hope to see everyone in Buddies next Friday 21st at 8.30 for our Victory night out where we will be presenting medals from our 3 County Final Successes. It will be a great night and family tickets can be got from Pat, Tom, Louise and Mike.
U12 Camogie County Final - Friday 12th Sept 2008 - Nenagh 4-5 Annacarthy 0-1
Last Friday was another great evening for our club when our U/12 team won their County Final in Drom. Despite all the changing of the game(3 times in 2 days) and the long wait(11 weeks since our semi final) a huge crowd turned out from Nenagh and surrounding areas to support this very talented team. This was a game Nenagh were never going to lose even before they stepped out on to the pitch, the commitment, focus and will to win was there for all to see.

The game started with Alana Morris winning the throw in and that’s the way her match went as any ball that came near her she won and drove it back down to our forwards. With Alana and Paula Ryan dominating at mid field there was a constant supply of ball going in to our forwards. A few minutes in after great work by Aine Long and Alison McGrath the ball broke to the impressive Colleen O’Brien who crashed home our first goal. Our girls were on top and were unlucky to not be more in front as there goalie made some good stops from Taylor Murphy and Mairead Sheridan. Our backs who gave nothing away all night were put under a bit of pressure but the outstanding Rachel Maher who was marking their danger girl kept snuffing out the danger and driving the ball out. Niamh Ryan and Mary McKenna made some vital clearances during this period but Annacarthy did manage to score a point from a free. From Sarah Quigley’s long puck out the ball broke to Colleen who went on one of her strong runs and sent in a lovely ball to Holly O’Brien who turned quick and scored a lovely point. Another followed soon after when Alana cleverly stayed out of a ruck and put the breaking ball over the bar. This was just reward for her dominating display and was unlucky not to have scored more. Another Annacarthy attack was cleared by Zoey Gratton, another who has matured in to a very good camogie player and one Tipp selectors of the future will be looking at. Just close to half time, Nenagh again camped down in the Annacarthy 21, and this time the ball was passed to Colleen who drilled home a great goal. Half time Nenagh 2-2 Annacarthy 0-1
The 2nd half started the same as the first with Alana winning the throw and starting a Nenagh attack. She really played a Captains role in keeping her team going as they tired in the second half. In this half our centre back line of Amy Heffernan, Rachel and Roisin Starr really got on top and really kept the pressure off our full back line. Rachel running out at full speed, taking the sliothar and driving it back down the field was a joy to watch. Kara Ryan Mulqueen replacing a tired Alison at full forward and she started the same as Ali finished, chasing and putting pressure on the full back at all times. This was the type of pressure that led to our third goal, which Holly smashed home after great chasing by Kara and Maireid. Elaine Slattery and Michelle Collins came on to replace Taylor and Niamh and they got straight in to pace of the game working as hard as the girls they replaced. Annacarthy tried hard to come back but Rachel and Zoey kept all the girls on their toes to make sure no mores scores were conceded. More strong work by Rachel and Alana got the ball to Aine Long who was playing her best game of the year, who in turn fed our chief scorer Colleen to rattle home her third and our fourth of the game. Sarah O’Connor replaced the hard working but exhausted Mairead and Cliona replaced the very dependable Roisin to add fresh legs in the middle of the field. We missed a few chances near the end with Elaine, Kara and Aine unlucky not to get on the score sheet. Another fine clearance from Rachel to Alana is where the game ended and allowed our huge following to rush on and congratulate our newest County Champions. County Chairman Lar O’Brien and David Greene who sponsored the u/12 competition presented the plaque to our outstanding Captain Alana Morris. Final Score Nenagh 4-2 Annacarthy 0-1
Team: S Quigley, M McKenna, Z Gratton, N Ryan, A Heffernan, R Maher, R Starr, A Morris(C), P Ryan, C O’Brien, A Long, M Sheridan, H O’Brien, A McGrath, T Murphy. This is our 2nd County Final win this year and a lot of credit must go to the Club, the committee and the trainers and coaches for the way the Club is now heading in the right direction. Martin Ryan and Liam McGrath have put in huge work with these girls helped by Denise Morris, Louise Ryan and Mike Ryan. This was not a easy year for the management team and these girls but hopefully this result might help. The 11 week wait put us at a disadvantage but due to the hard work and matches in training and some challenge games, the girls were raring to go right from the off. There is a big panel with lots of U/10s who got great experience of what it takes to win a County Final and all of these girls will hopefully win one while there on the pitch in the near future. We have to say a huge thanks to everyone who came and supported us on the night. It really lifted all the girls to see so many familiar faces in the crowd shouting them on.
We want to thank Careys Glass, Paddy Hoare, Rocky Sullivan and David Fitzgerald Contractors who sponsored the team for the final. Once again Pat, Louise and Tom had everything spot on for the girls. We thank Collins Bakery for their lovely cake. We would like to thank all the parents for their help and patience and hope the smile on the children’s faces at the end was just reward for a very long hard year. After our noisy parade around the town, it was back to the Hi-B for a celebration. A huge thanks to Jane, Martin, Denise and all the staff of the Hi-B for looking after the children and adults so well despite the numbers being a lot more than we predicated. We are now in the B League which will be taking place soon and who knows it might not be the end of the silverware yet.
U12 Camogie
-County Q/F Nenagh 6-1 Newport 0-4
- County S/F Nenagh 2-1 Holycross 2-0
This week just kept getting better and better for our club. After our U/14's winning our first ever County Final Last Sunday, Our U/12's Have now qualified for another. On Tuesday night in nenagh they took on Newport in the County Q/Final. While they won this by 6-1 to 4pts, the game was a lot closer than that. It took a lot of hard work by Mary, Rachel and Roisin at the back, Alana and Paula around the middle and Coleen, Aine and Holly up front to take us over the finishing line. most of the forwards scored with Zoey and Taylor scoring goals at important times. After the match we were asked to play our County Semi-Final on Thursday night and we thank Matt Lillis and the hurling club for making the pitch available at such short notice. In Between our U/8's and U/10's all went to Ballina on Wednesday evening for challange games. All teams won tight games with the U/8's most impressive with alot of girls like Rebecca McGrath following in there big sisters footsteps. On Thursday at 6 in Nenagh we then played Holycross in the U/12 County Semi-Final. Thankfully the awful weather that day had cleared before the match started. It turned out to be a very close exciting game of camoige which at the end we won by a single point. This was hard luck on Holycross who put in a great effort but Sarah in goals had a great game and also Cara, Amy, Alana, Rachel and Aine out the field made sure we hung on to our lead to the end. We started well but hit a few bad wides. After good play by Coleen and Mairead, Holly scored our 1st goal and Alana followed this with a point from a free. While we were on top at this stage we hit too many wides to make the game comfortable. Coleen then scored a cracker of a goal but instead of pushing on the girls let Holycross back in to the game. Sarah had made two great saves before holycross scored a goal which the backs should have had cleared. half time Nenagh 2-1 Holycross 1-0 The 2nd Half was very exicting and hard to watch for parents and selectors alike. Again, Nenagh missed a few chances before Another save from Sarah lead to a 45. Holycross excellent centre back went low and the ball flicked off a hurl in to the back of the net. 12 minutes left, 1pt up and against the wind, we were under pressure. At this Stage Michelle was on and Martin and Liam introduced Elaine and switched some girls around. This helped get some control back on the game but we kept hitting wides and could not get another goal. The backs were playing great with Mary, Paula and Rachel making some great clearences. Grace came on and Zoey went to Centre Back and again both changes helped the team. Holycross had one last chance but between Sarah and Amy we cleared it and as Paula was taking the ball out the final whistle went to huge relief and excitement. This was a great win and credit most to go to the girls, who for some was there 3rd match in 5 days. Also to Martin, Liam, Denise and Louise who have kept these girls working all year. There is a very big panel of 28 girls and it is impossible to play all of them, but it is a credit to the lads that everyone has played a part in some of the games this year. We need everyone to attend training from now to the final and to inform a trainer when you will be on holidays. Thanks to everyone in the Club for a great week.
U14 Camogie County Final - Sunday 22nd June 2008 - Nenagh 6-5 Holycross 1-4
These girls made history last Sunday in Dolla by becoming the 1st team from the Camoige Club to win a County Final. There was great relief, joy and a few tears when referee Martin Griffin blew the final whistle and ended our wait for this first title. It was a very windy Dolla that greeted the girls but the pitch was in excellent condition considering the weather over the weekend. An injury concern to Shannon Moran meant it was the same team as the semi-final with Coleen O'Brien staring wing Forward. Jessica lost the toss and Holycross chose to play with the wind in the 1st half. This is where the game was won as the the team from one to sixteen in that half defended, hooked, blocked, chased everything that came there way. Holycross were first to score with a fine point and followed that up with one from a free. Our girls were playing well against the wind with Gemma Morris as sweeper clearing a lot of ball. Ciara and Stephaine were wining there share of ball in the middle of the field and after some fine work by Ciara and Ceri, we got they ball up to Judy whose shot was half blocked but captain Jessica reacted quickest and slammed the ball home. This gave the team a great boost and everyone upped there game with Alana, Alice and jannete very prominent in defence. Shannon had to replace the injured Aileen Duggan. Holycross tagged on two more points before half time but due to the hard work of Amy, Cathriona and Claire they never created any goal chances although Zoey was very alert to any danger. half time score Nenagh 1-0 holycross 0-4. The girls were relaxed at half time but they knew the job was only half done and were very focused on what was to be done. One good half hour and they would be County Champions.

A little pep-talk at half time sent them on there way. Gemma was now back at wing forward after her great 1st half and Shannon was in the corner. holycross started the 2nd half well but Alice, who marked there star player all day, and janette started to drive balls back 60 yards to keep the pressure off. As so many times this year when we needed a score, Ciara popped up with a cracking goal and a point. This eased the tension and every girl till the end of the match pulled out all the stops. Stephaine, Colleen and Ceri kept the ball moving in and Judy, Jessica and Shannon caused loads of problems inside. Shannon then got a lovely goal after good work by Ceri and Gemma put over a lovely point. Ciara then pointed a free and we started thinking about the trophy, but, Holycross showed what a good team they are when the broke up the field and scored a goal. This spurred our girls on again and further goals by Ciara and Shannon were surpassed but a wonderful goal from Gemma Morris. Aileen was now back on for Coleen and Laura Doherty for Amy Darcy. Judy grabbed a point before being replaced by Aishling King. Caitlin Shoer replaced Gemma and to cap the day Janette Collins came up the field to score two great points. Just reward for the great game she had. We also have to praise the girls who didn't get to play but who worked just as hard and had played in other games this year, Lauren Glennon, Aoife Hynes, Amy Heffernan and Aine Long. The Club has worked very hard for this day and every one who was part of it for the last six years can take a little bit of the credit. The people lucky enough to work with these girls this year were selectors Martin, Cora and Rebecca. Trainer Mike Ryan and Coach Emma Ryan wish to thank these girls, there parents, the Club and everyone who helped make these girls dream come true.
We want to thank our Chairman Pat Sheridan, Secretary Louise Ryan and Treasurer Tom McAuliffe for all there excellent work to make sure the girls got everything they needed. Thanks to our sponsors Valerie and Bob O'Brien from Bob O'Brien's Garage in Springfort cross, Tom Gallahue and Seymour Construction. Thanks to David Moran for the New Water Bottles and a Big Thank You to Finbar, Mary, Pierce and all the staff in Buddies for a wonderful party afterwards. Also to Collins Bakery for cakes and buns and they whole thing made someone's birthday all the more special. We wish Holycross all the best and thank them for there sportsmanship. We thank Martin Griffin who showed what a fine referee he is and thank the Silvermines for having Dolla in great shape. We also want to thank Patsy Carroll for all her help and patience in arranging matched this year.
U/14 v New Inn- Mon 2nd June 2008 - County semi final
On Monday we traveled to Thurles to take on a very strong New Inn team in the County Semi Final. It was a Lovely warm evening, great for supporters, of which there were many, but hard to play sixty minutes in. Our girls started great and owned the ball for the first 10 minutes but had no score to show from it until Ciara scored a great goal to settle us down. Two great points from Ciara were cancelled out by two frees by New Inn's excellent centre back. We got a great boost just before the break when Aileen Duggan crashed home a great goal to leave the half time score 2-2 to 2pts. The second half was a very tough battle with some great passages of hurling. Our County girls were outstanding but the hard word work of the rest of the team especially janette, Alana, Ceri and our captain Jessica tipped the balance in our favor. The scored a 13m free to leave a goal in it with 10 mins left. But just when we needed it after great play by Ciara and Colleen, the ball broke inside and Judy Mulqueen latched on to it for a great relieving goal. The Final Score was 3-2 to 1-2. This was a great win which was all down to the hard work of the entire panel and hopefully we can go one better than two years ago and win our first County Final. We thank everyone who helped and supported the team on the day.

What a weekend for our camoige club. On Saturday last Alice Darcy and Ciara McGrath lined out for the Tipperary U/14 A team in a an 8 team inter county blitz in Cork. From all accounts the Two girls were outstanding all day but really stood out against Wexford to get out of there group and in the semi final against Galway. While they lost the final to Cork, the girls and the club can feel very proud of their efforts on the day.
U/12 v Portroe - Sat 24th May 2008
We played Portroe in Portroe last Saturday on lovely but windy morning. This was our first Championship game this year but the girls had been doing really well at training and in some practice matches. The first problem was picking the team as we have such a strong panel its hard to pick the first 15. We won the toss and played with the wind in the first half. They attacked from the start and scores came regularly during the first half. The pick of these was a Colleen O'Brien goal with a well struck shot from 25 yards out. At half time the score was 6-1 to 0-0. The 2nd half was against the wind and the game was a lot more even but with Alana and Rachel winning a lot of ball in the middle of the field, it helped keep the pressure off the backs. the scores were harder to get in the second half but with the injection of the subs the team lifted again. Elaine scored a lovely point which was the pick of the second half. we scored another goal and a point before the end to leave the final score 7-3 to 0. While all our big names played well, we had very good games out of Rachel, Sarah, Lisa, Roisin and Mairead and all the subs done really well when they came on. This is a good team and if the girls stay working hard who knows what might happen over the next few weeks.
Best of luck to all the girls on the Convent Primary school team who are to play there County final on either the 5th or 6th of June and also to Alana Morris who is attending Tipperary Primary School trials at the moment.
U/14's defeat Newport in County Q/F - 20/May/2008
Our U/14's played their County Q/F against Newport in Newport last Tuesday night. We went there with High Expectations as this is a very good team and we weren't disappointed. While it was dry, It was a cold windy evening which the girls found hard to adapt in the opening 10 minutes. Once they settled down in what was a very physical first half they dominated. Ciara McGrath opened the scoring with a goal which was followed, after a number of wides, with another by Judy Mulqueen after good work by Alana Morris.
While we were hitting a lot of wides the girls kept the score board ticking over with points by Aileen Duggan And Jessica Maher. The last score of the half came form a free by Ciara after a foul on Ceri Healy, which left the half time score 2-3 to 0. After a stern talking to the girls played much better in the second half against a very strong breeze. With scores hard to come by some great defending by Alice Darcy, Claire Collins And Cathriona O'Connor meant Zoey Gratton in goals had very little to do. With strong play around the middle of the field by Ciara and Stephanie, they kept the pressure on the Newport backs. Further goals by Shannon Moran, Judy and Ciara eased any pressure and a great point by Team Captain Jessica Maher finished the scoring. While this was a good hard fought win the girls will know that the must play a lot better if they are to win the County semi-Final and reach only our second County Final. The County Semi-final V New Inn is penciled in for next Tuesday. Time and Venue to be Confirmed. Final Score Nenagh 5-4 Newport 0-0
Team V Newport: Z Gratton, Amy Darcy, Jannette Collins, Cathriona O'Connor, Alana Morris, Alice Darcy, Clare Collins, C McGrath, S Browne, Gemma Morris, C Healy, S Moran, A Duggan, J Maher(C), Judy Mulqueen.
Subs: Colleen O'Brien, Aishling King, Caitlin Shoer, Laureen Gleenon, Laura Doherty, Aoife Hynes, Amy Walsh, Amy Heffernan and Aine Long.
Best wishes to all in the County Semi-Final.
Our under 12's had two good challenge games last week against Burgess and Newport. Even though it was not Burgess's strongest team the girls ran out easy winners on the night with good displays from Amy Walsh, Paula Ryan, Alana Morris, Holly O'Brien and Alison McGrath. On Friday night they traveled to Newport and once again came away with a good win. Even making a good few changes Didn't weaken the team in any way, which is a good sign for the upcoming
Our U/14's played Portroe in a Challenge last Thursday and had a comfortable win. We had good displays from Claire Collins, Amy Darcy, Gemma Morris, Shannon Moran and Jessica Maher. The are now playing Newport on Tuesday 20th in the County Q/Final. Best of Luck to all involved.
