Minor Hurling Team of the Year
Congratulations to Sam O’Farrell who was one of four Tipperary players named on the Electric Ireland Team of the Year for 2022. Well done to Sam – a richly deserved award.

Under 11 boys had an amazing week last week with the highlight being a bus trip to Páirc Uí Chaoimh where they played in a football blitz against teams from Cork and Kerry. The boys dropped into Newtownshandrum for a hurling match on the way back and gave a great account of themselves. A super day was had by all, thanks to John for driving the bus, to Niall for organising the trip and to Kieran and Brian for coaching and supervising on the day.
U11 Boys on their day out in Pairc Uí Chaoimh and Newtownshandrum.
Following on from the big trip to Cork the boys played two hurling matches in Nenagh on Saturday morning against Kilruane. Despite the damp weather the boys hurled brilliantly.
It would be hard to top the adventures of last week but we will certainly give it a try as this week the boys are taking another trip this time to a stadium closer to home and to Tipperary hearts, you may have guessed it, this group are off to Semple Stadium on Wednesday to play in a Munster Go Games blitz. The boys are hugely excited about this trip as they will get to play on the same pitch as many of their heroes.

Under 17
Under 17s had a great run out against Toomevara on Monday 25th July. With holidays still affecting squads, Nenagh were short several players but were well supported by Under 15s who stood up to the challenge magnificently. After a very positive start Nenagh raced into an 8 point lead only for Toome to claw it back to 4. There were spells of superb hurling in the game with both sides promising better days ahead. In the end a draw game with 2-17 each was a fair result and both sides will relish further encounters before the championship is over.
Their next game was against Newport last Monday evening in MacDonagh Park. With numbers again tight, the boys hurled very well and ran out winners on a scoreline of 2 – 16 to 8 points.
U17 training continues every Monday and Wednesday at 6.50 pm unless there is a match.

Cúl Camp week at Nenagh Éire Óg
The Nenagh Éire Óg Cúl Camp ran last week and what an amazing week it was. The camp opened in the back drop of our senior players winning the North Tipperary Championship, many thanks to all the players who brought along the Frank McGrath cup on Monday and spent time with the young Cúl Campers. Following on from this our very own All Ireland winning minor captain Sam O’Farrell brought along the Munster Cup and the Irish Press cup so the children were very busy getting photos with all the winning cups and autographs from all of these wonderful stars from our club whom we are very proud of.
We were thoroughly blessed with the weather for the week, it helped to made the camp one of our best to date. Cúl camp Olympics was the order of the day on Friday for the grand finale and what better way to conclude an amazing week but with 99’s for all of the children and coaches.
Thanks to Niall and the team of coaches for all they did in making the 2022 Nenagh Éire Óg Cúl Camp the resounding success it was. Our next camp will be in August, running from the 10th to 12th from 10 to 1 each day so if you are interested in attending secure your place soon by texting Niall on 087 408 6439.

Trailing by 7 points at half time and losing Barry Heffernan to injury early in the second half and Conor McCarthy to a red card with 10 minutes remaining, the lads showed great heart and determination to come out on top by two points in a great battle. Feile Handball
Saturday June 18th saw Nenagh Handball Club players play in the All-Ireland Handball Feile U15 Section in Tinryland, Carlow. After many nights training, challenge matches and under the tutelage of Eamonn Spillane they didn’t leave the scene empty handed. Having been beaten by the very strong and eventual winners in the first match, they regrouped successfully playing with great skill, determination and shrewdness to win all their remaining duels securing bronze medal position. With four out of the five players still underage next year this experience will no doubt lead to even greater progress in the future. Congratulations to all the players and gratitude to Eamonn Spillane for his time and coaching expertise.
